I just read... And it was...
I just read Lover Beware and I loved it. I was afraid it might just be smutty because of the title, but the stories were all really entertaining. I originally got it to read the prequel to World of the Lupi, but apparently I didn't need to read it since she reworked it all in book 1.

I just read
and I enjoyed it. I liked it a little better than book 1, but I'm not obsessive about it.
I cannot seem to motivate myself to get started on book 4 of Percy. Blah.

Is that the one in the Hellhounds book? I actually read 1 1/2 stories in it and put it down. I will check. I'll post why I felt that way. First, I'm not big on smut. I love series like the Night Huntress, but they seem to have one good sex scene and then the others fade to black. This one I felt that the sex had as big of a part as the plot and it got redundant. The other thing that bothered me was parts of the romance itself.
***SPOILER***
I get that Aislinn didn't feel that Gabriel actually loved her for most of the book. But twards the end, where she became the Shadow Queen I felt like I was reading a fan fic. He tells her he loves her (which he should have done way sooner) and does her up against the wall and bang, everything is perfect (relationship wise). I also thought it should have ended there. It felt like the book had two endings.
***END SPOILER***
Besides those gripes, I really liked the rest of the book. The whole idea of their world was interesting and I liked the characers.

I have heard a lot of people are turned off by this series by this book or just think it is ok. When I first found it I read the first 5 at once, so it is hard for me to judge it by itself. I do know that with this series I can't read at my normal really fast speed, there is just so much going on I have to slow down. Plus with this series once you have read them if you go back and re-read you realize just how much stuff you are being told that maybe won't have a pay off for a few books.
I would say keep reading, they get better. It is kind of like the Kitty books, the first one is so much about setting up the world, but they get better.

I also read Wings and liked that one as well.

Carrie you described it well. It really has an innocence to it.
I just finished Never Let Me Go and this is one of the most depressing book I have ever read. It almost makes you want to off yourself after reading it.

Oh dear that doesn't sound good Darcy.

I love Georgie, but man she gets herself into trouble. =) She causes some unrepairable drama in this one.
I have one question: Why isn't this book longer???? (whimper and whine)

Well I won't be reading that one!

Hmmmm, unrepairable drama, eh? I probably won't continue with the series then. She really drove me nuts in the first book, so I was hoping she'd smarten the hell up in the next ones. I really liked Carter though (I know he had a small part, but I felt drawn to him more than any of the other characters).
It might be fixable. But I'm not sure how. If you don't like book 1 I doubt you'd like the rest of the series. The damage issue is more of one of those things you don't plan and everyone's pissed at you later kind of things. I don't know how to phrase that any better without giving plot away.

Cast, having worked with teenagers, puts in what teens actually know about as opposed to what we think they should know. Even good teenagers that are capable of self-control hear more smut in the halls than you'd imagine. I can't believe what I hear in class. I know who has crabs, had an abortion, can last the longest... and that's when they're actually on task and busy. I can't imagine what I'd hear if they had down time. Some days I wish for ear plugs for me or duck tape for them.

It's hard to find books for the kids between the childrens' section and the YA section. P.C. is definitely writing for high schoolers. (And all of us adults that read YA.)
Oh, and Darcy... I think, but am not sure, that you're supposed to read all the divine books together and the YA together. I'm not sure if Elphame's really book 2. I guess you'll have to let us know. But all the Divine books deal with the same characters. She doesn't really specify on her site the reading order.

I liked them all in varying degrees. The Summoning made me angry because of the extreme cliff hanger ending, but I forgave The Summoning after listening The Awakening which I liked a lot. Still a cliff hanger, but I was expecting it so no biggy.
I'll read more of the Circle of Magic series after listening to Sandry's Book. The book was well written.
I'm becoming a fan of Shannon Hale. The book of a Thousand Days was interesting and was definately based on a fairy tale.

I enjoyed it. It affected me a little differently than the previous books because it had a more serious issue than just the attempt to get out of whatever trouble Mercy finds herself in. I was able to read it slowly rather than rush through it. (I'll elaborate more as to why once more of you have read it.)
I'm not sure if it's my favorite Mercy, but I was glad to be back in her world. Although, it's missing one of my favorite characters.

Haha. "...in a way." I like that.
I thought it got a little better toward the end, but it wasn't one of her better books.

I have to agree that this wasn't one of my favorites to read.
Her two standalone books are probably her worst. Sweet and Deadly was even harder for me to read.

I thought it was okay. If I could I'd give it 2.5 stars. Since I can't I ended up giving it 2.

I really liked this book, even though it made me cry my eyes out at the end, and I would recommend reading it if you are looking for a heavy read that really leaves you thinking. DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE USE OF SWEAR WORDS IN BOOKS, AND YOU DO NOT LIKE IT WHEN THERE IS UNDERAGE SEX, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

I would recommend reading my review if you want my in-depth thoughts of this book.
Darcy wrote: "Some that I have finished this week are
, theses were cute, on the lighter..."
I almost picked up Blonde With a Wand today, but the book makes it impossible to tell which book comes first. I wish all books were as good at listing their series in order. I've found a few series I'd like to try only to realize I can't tell which one is book 1.

Heather, Blonde with a Wand is the first one, then Chick with a charm. I did discover that there is a trilogy before that has characters that pop in but I hadn't read them and it doesn't matter. I think if you would have read those ones it would have just been nice to see characters you know again.
Good to know.
Angela - I found the covers to be turn offs too. If it hadn't been for multiple people pushing me into the books I don't think I would have looked at them twice.

Magic Bites, Halfway to the Grave and Succubus Blues were all books besides the Harris that I almost didn't read because of the covers. With Kate Daniels and Night Huntress everyone recommended them so much I picked them up. I didn't want to, but I gave the Georgina Kincaid a chance after having read Mead's Vamp Academy.
They're all in my top 10 series now. Night Huntress being my favorite at the moment.
