February - Pick It For Me! Challenge
Julie, I hope you enjoy it all the way through. There is sort of a storyline that develops as you go.
Amanda, I finished You Slay Me and have to say that it was funny. That was a great distraction from everyday life. I am even planning on getting hold of the next one to see if it is just as funny. Thanks for the great recommendation.
Kasia, I just finished Soulless today and I totally loved it! I thought it was the perfect mixture of paranormal, urban fantasy, humor, action/adventure, and romance with a dash of mystery/suspense on the side. It was actually pretty much my ideal novel. :)
Thanks again for the rec! I'll definitely keep reading the series.

Hmmm, the vendor through Amazon is not in my good graces at this time. I ordered my book on February 1 and they shipped on February 2nd. Today is the 18th, still not here. Grrrrr!

Ouch, that sux! If it already surpassed the timeline they gave you for the delivery you can contact the sellers. Check first if it's coming from the UK, for some reason they always send the stuff by mail and that takes forever.
Gigi, I just finished The Duke And I today. I was kind of torn as to how to rate it. On the one hand, I did enjoy it and it made me smile. On the other hand, it was really predictable. Since I did like it enough to want to continue on with the series, I decided 3.5 stars was a good rating.
I did write a full review for it, if you're interested. :) Thanks again for the recommendation! I hope I enjoy the rest of the series and I'm always grateful to find good authors to add to my collection.
Leslie Jane, I finished A Stitch in Time and can't say that I liked it as it was too religious for my tastes. Either way, thanks for the recommendation..it's always nice to try something out of your comfort zone...whether or not you like it. You just never know.
I am so very determined to read the book I picked from my list that was given to me...even if the first bookstore isn't getting the book to me. I ordered another copy from another store, only one state over, so hopefully this ones doesn't get lost too. I figure I will have less than a week to read it. :)
I just finished A Rose in Winter. I really enjoyed the story. There were some moments where I thought "seriously?!" and wanted to scream at the heroine for being so silly, but the good far out weighed the bad for me. I'll be sure to pick up some more Kathleen Woodiwiss novels. Thanks for the recommendation Yz!
Rosy,Finished He Loves Lucy and I have to agree, it was a great book! I just have to give it 5 stars because I honestly can't think of a single thing wrong with it! I generally am not a big fan of contemporary's but this was just about my ideal romance novel. I think I decided I wanted to marry Theo not 100 pages into it. LOL Thanks for the rec!!!

They were the first historical bodice-rippers I cut my teeth on after I devoured everything Victoria Holt my library had to offer. I will admit, I tried re-reading some Woodiwiss a few years ago and couldn't remember what the big deal was, but I guess back in the 80s they just seemed so risque and heaving-bosom enough to me that I would smuggle them off my mom's "finished" shelf while they were still warm LOL!

I was afraid it might seem dated, but I thought it would still be a cool read. Plus Christopher Seton is a dashing hero all around. :)
Barbara, I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of My Demon's Kiss but I finished the other two (Angel's Blood and Mortal Temptations) about 2 weeks ago. I had a hard time becoming attached to the characters in Angel's Blood and tho I found it a cool concept I struggled to get through it. Mortal Temptations I like more, but again it was hard to follow the relationships in the book and the story. I like the guys (who wouldn't) and Patricia but was really thrown off by Rebecca. I thought the sex scenes rocked, but couldn't really get into the book. Thank you so much for your recommendations! I always love finding fun books to devour!

I'm sorry the book was predictable. There seemed to be a lot of buzz about the book. However, I'm glad it made you smile and that you're interested in the rest of the series. I'm going to go read your review.

Sara, Thank you for your recommendation of The Butler Did It - this was a delightful read! Michaels not only blurred the lines and rules of society - she pretty much eliminated some of them! I've already ordered Perry's story, so thanks again!
I also have Seduced By A Scoundrel, and will read that next month, but "Butler" came first, and once I peeked inside, I had to keep reading!

Hey Regina, just wanted to let you know am reading The Sword right now. I'm about half way through and so far am really enjoying it. Kind of reminds me of Lords of the Var: The Savage King by Michelle M. Pillow...well except for the curse part.Update: I really liked it, thanks for the recommendation! I just stopped by the bookstore to pick up the rest of the series books.

LOL...today is Feb 25. Today I received the book I am reading for the February challenge. It took two orders to two different vendors to get one book. I hope to have my current book, The Iron King, done soon so I can complete my challenge book by Sunday.

If you cannot finish it on time, do not worry about it. It's not your fault that you couldn't get the book until now. It's sufficient that you're reading the book that was recommended to you.
This goes for others as well. Please do not stress yourselves if you cannot finish the challenge on time. This is a fun way to get ourselves to try something different or have a wonderful book we've heard of but have yet to try. We don't want to add to your daily worries, when we perfectly understand how things sometimes happen to prevent us from doing something we had planned.
We only encourage you to try and read the book as soon as you can and perhaps let the person who recommended the book know how you felt about it.

Jennefer, I finished A Kingdom of Dreams. I've never read a historical romance. I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed this era. What a great story!!! I loved it. It was refreshing to read a romance where both main male and female characters were very strong characters. I'm definitely going to read more of Judith McNaught's books. Thanks for the recommendation!
Rachel,I finally got my copy of The Time Traveler's Wife from the library. However, there is no way for me to finish before the end of this month, so I will be including this with my March books.

Well, I started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but had a really hard time getting into it. I have heard great things about this series, so I will try again at some point. Meanwhile, I have gone on to one of the other recommendations: Slave to Sensation. I am really enjoying it so far and I am sure I will finish it by the end of the month. Thanks Michelle.
I finished
a few days ago but I'm just now getting around to updating.This title had been riding around on my TBR shelf for quite some time, so I was glad to finally have a reason to get to it. I gave it 3.5*/5.
The big reason it didn't score higher with me was the annoying "hindsight" habit the author had. Unlike a lot of people, I really don't mind a 1st-person POV. But when that POV is used, I definitely prefer for the narrator pick a tense and stick with it. It would be going merrily along in present tense (with the reader experiencing the action right along with the lead character as it happened), and then out of nowhere she would spout off with these conspiratorial asides to the reader (i.e., "I know what you're wondering, why didn't I do this or that?" or "If I knew then what I know now, I would have done things differently.") that just smacked of condescension to me. It would interrupt the flow of the story, and I'd have to take a moment to think, "Wait. What do you mean, 'then'. I thought it was 'now'." Maybe the author intended it as a teaser or something, to amp up the tension or inject a bizarre little cliffhanger or "uh-oh" into the action to pull the reader to the edge of her seat. Frankly, I just felt like it insulted my intelligence... and kind of spoiled the scenes for me when it happened.
Other than this little annoyance, I still really enjoyed the story enough to follow the rest of the series. And now that I know what perspective to expect, maybe it won't offend me so much if she continues those "in hindsight" comments in the next book.

I hope you continue with the series :D

Is it creepy-creepy or just sort of scary, Gaijinmama? I want to try the series, though am not much into YA because of my age.^.^

Thanks Rossy...No stress just the frustration of online ordering. If I do not finish it by Sunday, I will be home all week recouping from a little surgery. :)

I SOOOOO agree. It was sweet and I would have been a bigger book hound had those YA's been available in our time.
But that is okay...I'm reading them now and so enjoying them.
I have the sequel to Shiver on order at the library. Looking forward to it.

Rossy, the first scene is probably the one that freaked me out the most, a graphic depiction of being attacked by a pack of wolves. But the book wasn't gratuitously violent or bloody. It was a more subtle creepy feeling that built up all through it. And, without spoiling it, I just want to say that the parents in the story are just awful! Not abusive or preverted or anything, just horribly selfish, clueless, and immature. Seriously, some people should never have kids. Grrrrrrr. I'm not perfect by any means, but at least I think I'd know if one of my kids was, ummmm...you know, sleeping with a werewolf!

Well it sounds like this is a book i should get immediately. I'm going to see if i can buy them on ebook, that way i don't have to wait too long for Amazon to deliver.
Sorry Tammy, but I won't be able to read any of your recommendations... haven't been able to get any of them as they are all out on issue at my library. Thanks anyway. Having very slow reading months - only read 8 books this month!

I love the movie ;D I saw it... maybe 3 times(?). That's why I was so exited to finally read the book. I'm glad I read it, but I think the whole thing worked betted as a motion picture...

I download World War Z last night and am only on page 20 something and it grabbed my attention right away- I love how the author writes, it really draws you in to the possibility of this "out there" event.
