I'm really enjoying it so far!! I thought the beginning was slow and didn't get good until the main characters met.

I was going to start Fallen by Lauren Kate next. But I think I'll switch that to Maggie Stiefvater. That way the three of us can discuss it if we want to. :-)

I finished it this afternoon. I had a bit of a problem with the fact the parents of all the high school kids were so totally oblivious to everything that was going on. I have read sevearl like that recently. I guess it's a common plot device for YA but it's beginning to bug me.

people ask me that all the time. i never have a problem keeping them straight because I read several different genres and formats. I never get confused between them. I guess I'm just good at compartmentalizing them all.

I have to agree with you about the lack of parental presence in ya books. I've noticed it in movies as well, and find myself thinking "what?!" The Twilgiht series is a good example. I guess its all part of the fantasy, LOL!

Yeah I guess that just shows me how old I am. LOL I guess teenagers dream about what it would be like to have parents who let you do whatever you want. But us grownups think completely differently I guess. :-)
I like the stories in YA and the various types of novels that come from that genre but I definetly have to do them in small does or they'll drive me crazy. LOL Or at least add some grownup books in between them.

Definitely a part of the whole "freedom and we don't need no stinking parents" mindest a lot of teens have that comes out in the novels. LOL

Well, I finished reading it. I'm one of those that loved the book. Religious stereotypes were definitely thrown out the window; which I didn't mind at all. Living in the bible belt, The Shack has actually been a hot topic about a year or so ago here, and I've even heard it described as "controversial", so I didn't know what to expect. My feeling is that those who are more traditional in their religious beliefs, may be more likely to not care for The Shack. I was near tears during certain parts. I'm not surprised in the least to see that there is talk of turning The Shack into a movie.
