UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Melanie, I can't wait for you to read the rest of the books! They're all amazing.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Ok, I'm reading a couple of things right now... I just finished I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier by Crystal Rose which was a very funny m/m read. It's a 4 star read I think.

Now I'm reading Crave (The Fallen Angels, #2) by J.R. Ward and Fallen From Grace by Laura Leone

message 3403: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Dhes, definitely looking forwards to all of them!

Well, I'm rereading Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) by Pamela Clare : I have a hard time reading books out of order, lol, even though I read this one in January!! So many books in between then and now that it's already fuzzy, if you can believe it!!:-D

Oh, I am so sorry for the miscommunication, Melanie. I didn't even mean you b/c I saw you rated After the Night by Linda Howard high. I meant other GR friends, who like dangerous heros but didn't like Gray, and rated the book down. (Their right, of course.) You are accurate; he is an asshat; but I felt he was justified in his asshattery.

I own most of catherine Anderson books, and have these...I need to read them! I THINK SHE IS GREAT AUTHOR!

Laura (filoviridae) | 783 comments I was going through more of my mom's cast-off books on Sunday and what did I luck into? She had the Comanche series minus #1 which I picked up cheaply on Thriftbooks.com.

message 3408: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Right now I'm reading Time and Chance and listening to Remember Me?.

The first one is going slow because I soo like Henry II but I know bad things happen and I don't want to know!

message 3409: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 871 comments I just finished To Find You Again by Maureen McKade last night. Hope to get a start on Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham sometime today between entertaining 5 kids off from Easter break, taking them to the movies and going out to dinner tonight for my brother in law's B-day.

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Laura & Heidi - Oh, you girls have got to read the Comanche series!! Soooo good!

Lisa Kay, no offense taken! I've also seen people rate good books(IMO) low because of the hero's "asshattery", lol..

What's that I hear? Free shipping with thriftbooks? since when?

On my end, I read Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles yesterday and loved it (my computer was down though).. Great "Romeo and Juliet" theme! Looking forwards to the second book, which came in the mail today:-D

Laura (filoviridae) | 783 comments Melanie wrote: "What's that I hear? Free shipping with thriftbooks? since when?...."

I've only recently started using thriftbooks.com, but it's free shipping within the US, $2.99 to Canada & UK, and $4.99 to the rest of the world.

I love the word 'asshattery' btw...too funny!

A year or so? It's in the US only.

message 3416: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Ah well, I'll have to wait till this summer when I move to the US.. Good, because I definitely do not need a new book site, lol! I'm already wrecking enough havoc on BWB and BD (talking of which, I think I might cave again.. 17 books in my basket just waiting to be bought.. with BD, that is! otherwise, 63 with BWB..)

Megan | 546 comments Currently reading The Twilight Saga The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer , In the Blink of an Eye Dale, Daytona, and the Day that Changed Everything by Michael Waltrip , Polar Reaction by Claire Thompson , and listening to Tempted (House of Night, #6) by P.C. Cast on audio book at work. Sadly I don't really like most of them and can't wait to finish them so I can move on, lol.

Megan | 546 comments UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "I got burned out and put off by the House of Night series."

me too! lol. I have never had a book drive me insane before, but I'm pretty sure Tempted (House of Night, #6) by P.C. Cast will. The main character pisses me off more than my husband ever could, and thats saying something HAHA

My coworker and I had just finished Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins on audio book and was going to start Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins , but the library only gave us disks 1-9 and shorted us the final disk. We had a mild panic attack, lol. So we had to start Tempted instead.

message 3420: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I think I own Tempted... was that the first hard cover book? But I never read it. Really... that series just took a nose dive.

message 3423: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Well, TMOT was far from being my favorite, although it was cute.. Bet Me or Crazy for you are probably my faves: she's very funny, and her books are a great sweet & fun read, especially when you're feeling down:-D I've reread the two I mentioned about a dozen times each!

message 3424: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

I liked Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie Charlie All Night by Jennifer Crusie Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Crusie Fast Women by Jennifer Crusie Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie . But not everyone like the last three. Charlie All Night is short and sweet but some people complained about paying so much for a short book.

i liked "bet me" a whole lot better than the latter.

i reviewed it, if u want to check it out.

message 3431: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Not a series Dhes! Each book is a stand-alone, but I think two of them are "linked" (well, the MCs are brother and sister, but you don't need to read one to read the other!)

D.G. A friend recommended me that book, Dhes and I was so happy to find it as a freebie for Kindle.

Right now I'm reading Time and Chance and listening to Ella Enchanted. The narrator sounds like a 12 year old girl, though, which is really weird (the main character is supposed to be 15.)

message 3438: by Melanie (last edited Apr 24, 2011 04:33PM) (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments I just finished All Night with a Rogue (Lords of Vice, #1) by Alexandra Hawkins and was kind of disappointed in it. Firstly, I didn't think the characters were built up enough, the sexual relationship that springs up between Sin and J seemed rushed, (view spoiler) and secondly, Sin was an ass! A shallow, undeserving a**, while Juliana was a weak miss who just fell into his arms.

Nonetheless, I didn't hate the book: I actually thought the plot had a lot of promise, and there were a few worthwile angsty moments I enjoyed.. so 2.5-3*, but I'm glad that for once I didn't go ahead and buy all AH's books!

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Starting Caine's Reckoning (Hell's Eight, #1) by Sarah McCarty .. I need a good book after the last couple mediocre ones! Well, no.. Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston was fabulous, but I was expecting better from Trust Me on This by Jennifer Crusie Ice by Linda Howard Riley (Sensual Romance) by Lori Foster All Night with a Rogue (Lords of Vice, #1) by Alexandra Hawkins

message 3440: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (shellye77) I just finished Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham on nook, have Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon about 1/2 way finished on audio, and am about to start The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook on nook. I'm kinda nervous about it, hear a lot of great things, so I hope it lives up to expectations!

Silvana~Duchess of Avonlea~ | 13 comments I would recommend my last two HR Never a Gentleman (The Drake's Rakes, #2) by Eileen Dreyer After Dark with a Scoundrel (Lords of Vice, #3) by Alexandra Hawkins .

message 3443: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm reading His Ordinary Life (Hearts of the South, #2) by Linda Winfree It's angstier than the first book, but I'm enjoying it.

message 3444: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Silvana - As I mentioned, I wasn't a fan of the Lords of Vice #1 - Would you recommend the second and third (which seems like the best) books? I don't want to buy them if I don't think I'll enjoy them, lol!! (I know, duh)

Finished Caine's Reckoning (Hell's Eight, #1) by Sarah McCarty which I gave 4* to: I understood Desi, but the romance seemed to go two steps forwards, one step back.. And I want to know what happens with the "big" villain!

Just finished Little Miss Innocent (Silhouette Desire, 1200) by Lori Foster , 3*, and starting Untouched by Anna Campbell which seems good (my first Anna Campbell, so I have high hopes!)

Silvana~Duchess of Avonlea~ | 13 comments Melanie wrote: "Silvana - As I mentioned, I wasn't a fan of the Lords of Vice #1 - Would you recommend the second and third..."

Melanie, I skipped the first book in Lords of Vice because of bad reviews and started with book three which I did enjoy. I’m currently reading book two because the heroine has an ailment I have yet to encounter in an historical romance. So far I would rate it a 3 star even though I find characters likeable and the plot somewhat original. With that said I would not put Lords of Vice in the same category as say Lisa Kleypas -Wallflower series or even Julia Quinn’s -Bridgertons series, but maybe alike it to Jennifer Ashley work. I hope that helps.

Alas, I will continue my vigorous search for a hero comparable to the ever charming and devilishly sexy Viscount St. Vincent. Oh Sebastian, how you continue to elude me. Lol
