YOWSA!! I would have never thought this book could have a worst cover than this one Fallen from Grace by Laura Leone but I think I was wrong!

seton (lindaseton42) Love MIDSUMMER MOON!

I am currently reading Lord Stanhope's Improper Proposal (Stanhope Challenge, #1) by Cerise DeLand .

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments Yes, Midsummer Moon has a little more humor in it than her other books. I liked it a lot.

message 3062: by MashJ (last edited Mar 19, 2011 03:34AM) (new)

MashJ | 733 comments Yes- I loved it- 5 star I think - must've been a couple of months since I gave a five star. I think I pulled it off your favourites actually Seton!- knowing that we often have similar taste.

BTW- on the personality types- he is ENTJ (classic manipulator) and she is INTP (typical egghead).

Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale

message 3063: by seton (new)

seton (lindaseton42) It's hard to go wrong during LK's middle perios starting w/ MIDSUMMER and ending with MY SWEET FOLLY. Then she started getting burnt out and hasnt been the same since. Sigh.

That Cerise Deland I read reeked. I only mention it b/c I saw it on ur WL, Bekah ;-)

Off to reading my Harlequin crack now . . .

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Which are Kinsale's best books? I've read Flowers from the Storm, The Shadow and the Star, Uncertain Magic and Seize the Fire (which I surprisingly enjoyed, seeing as they're stranded on an Arctic island for months, lol).. Any others I have to read?

I just got back from London, and read Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright (3* - what's with the ending??)
and If You Desire (MacCarrick Brothers, #2) by Kresley Cole If You Deceive (MacCarrick Brothers, #3) by Kresley Cole both 5* reads that went straight to my favorites shelf... I loved that trilogy!

I also have this one book she wrote in medieval language? I only got 10pages into it before it started grating on my nerves - Actually, seton, it was For My Lady's Heart.. is it worth working through the language?

yes, the dialogue is in olde/middle english. it takes a while to get the hang of it but i thought it was worth it. Ruck was the perfect knight, honorable to a fault, but he shows that it's not a weakness when up against the more cut-throat melisande.

I'm not sure how similar our taste is but if you like a book with a bit of heft to it wordcount wise, an actual plot beyond the romance and strong capable female characters you could well love it.

It was really nice that it was set in the US too. This one was both well researched (or so it seemed to me) and an interesting location that is underused in historicals. It's strange really- you'd have thought that there would be more interest in "local history" settings but maybe people prefer escapism.

I'm digressing again- it's a wonderful book- report in when you've read it! BTW- it's a nail biter so don't start it when you've only got odd half hours available.

I'm starting to think about holiday reads now as I'll be in (sort of )Spain over Easter.

I've added that to my amazon wish list because I've heard such good things about it!!!

Is it adult, YA... sex, no sex, violence, no violence?

message 3087: by Autumn (last edited Mar 20, 2011 08:00PM) (new)

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments Its contemporary romance Dhes. its very deep story with many layers to peel. Even though is about a male escort, the plot revolves about the why`s and how`s hes been leading that kind of life. when he falls for the heroine is when the real challenge starts.. I have to say it made cry. the honest, matter of fact way the story is delivered just makes u feel for him,and her. it just raises a lot of questions about our capacity to love beyond our preconceived ideas, prejudice, and stereotypes .. i hope u like it.

ps: Dhes, how is Water Bound (Sisters of the Heart, #1) by Christine Feehan coming along?? or did u finished it already?? I bought it because of the female character. i love those kind of stories. is it somehow like The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley ?? the characterization i mean.

message 3096: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Mar 21, 2011 09:32AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I finished Water Bound (Sisters of the Heart, #1) by Christine Feehan and ended up loving it. It's a 4 star read because Ms. Feehan can be a bit wordy sometimes.

Rikki is autistic and her "quirks" were quite endearing, but I don't think it was done quite as well as Ian Mackenzie was. I'm not sure why... maybe it was just different, or maybe because she's a female I didn't quite feel the need to take care of her like I did Ian. Does that make sense?

But I did love her and Lev a lot.

message 3097: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yeah, I've decided that what it was. Rikki being a female didn't quite compel me the way Ian did, but I LOVED how Lev took care of her and loved everything about her, even her quirks.

Yeah, I know... I'm usually generous with my stars, but lately, having read some great books, I'm bringing up my standards... But Grace also really got on my nerves (except for her job, which I found cute), along with Natalie, and to some measure, Margaret... The only one I did like was Callahan, lol..

Sounds like I need to add Fallen From Grace to my TBR:-D and maybe read Water Bound since I have it:-)... Autumn, could you PM me to let me know if there is a rape scene though? I'm not crazy about that! Thanks!!!

I'm listening/reading Surrender by Amanda Quick
