Me too, Laura. Maddy drove me bananas and seemed so cruel sometimes, always 2nd and 3rd guessing everything. Drove me crazy! I would have liked the book more with a different heroine I think.

I can totally see how Maddy would be a frustrating, unappealing heroine. My husband IS Maddy, and so I know, deep down, how hard it is to be them. And I know exactly how Christian feels, because he can never measure up - just like I never measure up. Who can when Scripture is the ruler you're measured with?Fortunately for Christian, Maddy, in the end, was able to love him despite his shortcomings because she was finally able to see the real man... the human being that he, and everyone is, with all their shortcomings.
I'm not that lucky, and after 30 years of marriage, I know it's not going to happen. It's a tough thing to live with, knowing that the person who is supposed to love you, cherish you, honor you... doesn't. So yeah, this book really, really hit home and I don't dislike Maddy, I feel sorry for her, because her level of devotion isn't as arrogant as it is debilitating.
I will say I found it to be unlike any other romance that I can recall reading, but yeah, I felt Maddy came across as sanctimonious and unforgiving of Christian until the end when it was too late for me to want her with him. I honestly felt he developed as a character more and deserved far better than her.

It's not as though she wanted all this stuff landed on her and she did the best she could according to her beliefs.
Mshj wrote: "It's not as though she wanted all this stuff landed on her and she did the best she could according to her beliefs. "That's how I felt too. It's not as if she had asked for it...basically she tried to show Christian some kindness and she got way over her head involved in things that normally wouldn't interest her. I understood her beliefs were an important part of her and I admired that she tried to put her money where her mouth was. She was a deeply religious person so it made sense that she didn't take to all the 'worldly' things that were part of Christian's life.
I felt like any and all of Maddy's actions were totally in keeping with her character, and 100% believable. As I said, I live it. I know it's accurate, and that's why, even though some of her actions did seem cruel, I know that not only was she in the dark about what was wrong with Christian, she was also operating in the only way she knew how.

So, did you like the first NH book?? Were we right or were we right?
Melanie wrote: "So, did you like the first NH book?? Were we right or were we right? "LOL, you were sooo right! Like somebody said in another thread, I want to marry Bones and have his vampire babies, LOL!!
Oh and I'm reading
. This is HUGE book (700+ pges) so I'm thinking I'll only read it at home and take another book for my commute. Now to think which book that will be...
I just requested the second NH book from my library but I'm 7/7 in the queue and they don't seem to have as many copies. So as soon as I activate the library card from my second library, I'll request it there too - this one has even the audiobook version but I like to continue how I started. :) Let's see who makes it first!

I'm only about 100 pages in, but I like it too. I really like the heroine and Iain isn't bad either. :)

Bondage, Dom/sub, maso.... though I'm not sure on the masochism and she doesn't write that. From Wiki -
BDSM is a consensual lifestyle choice, or type of adult roleplay between two or more individuals. The compound acronym, BDSM, is derived from the terms bondage and discipline (B&D, B/D, or BD), domination and submission (D&s, D/s, or Ds), sadism and masochism (S&M, S/M, or SM)

[book:A Knight in Shining Armoris one of my FAVE JD's!! I love how she managed to interweave her stories together from the Taggerts and Montgomeries in AMerica to the one who married the Princess during WWII (or was is WWI? I can't remember . . .)
I finished More Than a Mistress/No Man's Mistress and am reading No Man's Mistress. LOVED Jane in MTaM!! There were some things that bothered me about Jocelyn though.

I started the Outlander series in audiobook and now I cannot read it any other way because the narrator is great. :)
I've been wondering about audio books on Kindle. Kindle has a text to speech option, but it sounds really robotic. I wonder, if you can listen on Kindle, how it sounds.
I am WAY too ADD for audio books. Sound, for me, is more of an afterthough unless I have something to look at. If it were just playing and my eyes, and mind, were free to wonder, I'd never figure anything out.
Reading Teresa Medeiros at the moment, finishing her backlist ... Love her. My yearly Lisa Kleypas re-reading will start soon (since we won't have any new book this yr. *sigh*).
Just read the first two chapters of
and all i can say is "oh! oh! ohhhhh!!" and not good oh's either!!

Funny the Tagger's family are named in one of her novellas.. but i couldnt put my finger on it, she referred to the same ones. Now, im going to have to re-read the last couple of chapters to get it right!!

I always wonder... does it goes faster?? i mean do you finish the book faster thru audio??

I'm also pleasantly surprised that there's some heat in these books. The only other UF series I read is Mercy Thompson and those are not very explicit. :)
