Ah, thanks for the clarification. I'll read that book AFTER I read the second one (it has been rusting in m TBR pile for a LONG time). :)

Also, Mandy & Heidi, agree that the cover of the third one in that trilogy didn't do justice to the story.

message 2167: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Yup, Sugar Daddy is very different. The first half reads more like contemporary fiction. :)

I just finished Skin Game which was very good. Now I don't know what to read...maybe I'll continue with the The Thirteenth Tale, which I started listening on the commute or the Turner book which I need to finish.

I am VERY intrigued by Foster so I have a feeling I'll like that book even better. Luckily I'm #1 in the wishlist for Skin Tight at PBS (I just had it on hold) but as soon as I finished SG, I unheld it. Hopefully somebody offers it to me in a week or so!

Season for Miracles and Some Enchanted Season by Marilyn Pappano are two of my favorite Christmas romances. Although it was never marketed as a Christmas romance per se, Gaelen Foley's Lord of Ice is a really good romance that takes place during the holiday season.

They aren't romances, but if you like a sweet, heartwarming family story, A Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kincaid is quite good, and if you like tearjerkers, The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere is excellent too.

Hope you find something good to read, Heidi.:-)

message 2181: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Glover | 576 comments Finished Whispering Rock (Virgin River, #3) by Robyn Carr yesterday and am a bit aggravated with the author.

At the end of the book, folks were calling Brie Mike's wife and I TOALLY missed the wedding!?!?!? Did I fall asleep during the read and not realize it.

ANother thing, she focussed way more on the secondary characters than she did on the main ones. And I don't like the way she makes those teenagers sound so adult. I know teenagers, I was a teenager . .they don't act that way!

I'm going to read the next one A Virgin River Christmas (Virgin River, #4) by Robyn Carr , but I'm done. I can't deal with it anymore!!!

I'm starting Sin and Sensibility (Griffin Family, #1) by Suzanne Enoch today. I love her books.

I'm sorry its slow for you!! I'm betting like D.G. said, you'll find it more entertaining in the second half. Lots happens!

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments Bekah wrote: whats classy to you atumn?

did it come out wrong?? because it was the least of my intentions.

"romantic erotica is a slippery slope. One person's "ahh" is another's "ugh."

well, what i meant by that is that i like erotica with romance in it. (i have had the displeasure of reading erotica where there is just plain narrative sex, but no romance, care... maybe too shallow.) but then again, there is an audience for everything, and im trying to broad my horizon as far as venturing to new authors. (which u have helped. thx ;) ) so thats why i keep asking how is the book, and if it i would like it. this place has show me a great variety to choose from thats for sure!!!

but i do hope that didnt come out as deprecating. if so, i apologize.

((((((((huuuugs))))))))))))))

ps: so is the book good?? because that cover looks amazing Lol

message 2195: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Ok! Taboo (Albright Sisters, #2.5) by Jess Michaels !

I too do not like the erotica that just has sex sex sex with no romance or feelings. Because of this, I personally do not care for menage. This particular book is about revenge really. Its one of those where the hero is so completely in love and consumed by the heroine and heartbroken over her leaving that he exacts revenge(of the sexual nature) However, there are a lot of intese emotions going on and I found it hot. There is some anal play, though I don't remember to what extent..I've just come to expect that of erotica

If you like that premise, this book: Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas is very similar without the erotic bit, but filled with lots of angsty intense emotions. It was a great read!!

I can't really say slow cause it's obviously a coming-of-age story. But it's coming off slow to me cause it's not what I was expecting. I understand why Kleypas did it but I'm not sure if it's all really necessary. I'm tempted to skip this and go straight to Blue Eyed Devil but I can't bring myself too. LoL I'm just gonna shut up and keep going. lol

Thanks for the feedback guys!

That's the problem I had as well... Sugar Daddy is actually my least favorite of the Travis series for that reason. There was something else about it that led to me feeling that way, but if you're not finished I don't want to ruin anything.
