I am reading
, I have read it before and is a great book, very quirky!
I've heard that Holes, the book, is better than the movie, Suzanne, and I loved the movie!
I loved the film as well, I got it on DVD the same time I bought the book. I am glad one of my reading challenges has nudged me to reread this one. Have you read any of the sequels?

Oh Heidi!!! You are in for a real treat with Surrender of a Siren! It was fantastic!!! I melted, no combusted into flames, in chapter 16!!
Dhes, I was wondering..... I thought I had missed that you already read Ten Ways.. I can't wait to read that one but I need to buy it first!

Reading Midnight Pleasures by Eloisa James
I finished yesterday the first book in the Stud Club trilogy and I ended up liking it. I'll write a full review. Now I'm reading
Oh D.G. I ove Sarah Addison Allen! How are you liking The Girl Who Chased the Moon? I didn't think it was as good as her others but I still loved it!

Nor me Mshj, I have only read the first one and I found it a little dry. But Constantine was the best character, but his book is right at the end!

I'm reading the Slightly series on and off at the moment and that is better (except the first one).
I am currently wallowing in Mary Jo Putney though- I love her plots- plenty going on for someone like me who has a low attention span. I have only go one more to read in her fallen angels series- so good!

I'm agreeing with you on this one. I'm only partway done but the writing is rather dry. I'm not liking the Hero very well. There is not much to recommend him, his conversations are rather bizarre. I'm hoping he redeems himself in the end. I like Con also so probably will read them all.

I'm in the group that is finding this series just OK. Most likely I'll finish it but I'll read any future Balogh books if they come highly recommended. I think she jumped the shark.

I would highly recommend this one- I think that she works on some interesting ideas and writes well but because she tends to overwork a single theme in each plot her books are sometimes rather flat:
Edit: I see you've already read it- sometimes it's best to leave an author for a while and come back to them in a few months to appreciate them again.

I've read 18 books written by Balogh in the last 7 or 8 years and in my opinion her latest two series haven't been as good as her earlier stuff. I've given her enough time I think - I never read a writer's backlist back to back - and her writing still feels stale to me, as if she's repeating herself. I think she'll benefit by writing a different genre or a different time period to challenge herself. I'll be reading her old Regencies that are being re-released because they're really good but unless she tackles something different, I'll pass on her books.
I'm really getting into
D.G. that is good to know. Maybe I will look for some of her older books in the future. I did like the first book in the series though First Comes Marriage.

I'm happy to pick up some of her older works second hand but I won't be rushing to finish the Huxtables or the Simply series.
She's got some phenomenal books. My favorites by her:The Secret Pearl (you'll just need a hankerchief here...I cried buckets with this book)

I just started a book where the heroine owns a knitting shop. The author used this phrase several times - 'blocking a shawl' - but never described what that meant so I had Google it. I'm tempted to dnf it just because of that...

"NOT my favourite. However the partial use of a Russian setting and lots of cultural references to Russia are interesting- I enjoy books with a travel element. There is a big age gap betwwen H and H which I know I shouldn't have an issue with but I did find difficult. LK does try to explain that as the heroine has had a tough time she is far older than her years. There is a fair bit of action and there is a hint of the village that the Wallflower/Hathaway books are based at.
I loved the follow up- Prince of Dreams (but everyone else hates it!!).

Bekah, Mary Balogh is one of my filler authors, her books are decent but not spectacular, but I like that she has a long backlist.Suzanne - love the Troubleshooter series
Mshj - I had lots of issues with Midnight Angel and Prince of Dreams, just plodded through them cause they are by LK.

I am excited to read it and I will do my best not to compare it to BDB as well! I am craving (lol pun intended) a bit of JR Ward at the moment but I need to wait for November as I have on some challenges!
