What are you reading right now?

Yeah, the thing is I do like it, but I think the monotony has been getting to me. Also, though I will read it and sometimes enjoy it, I'm not a big fan of first-person POV. I think I'd like the book more if the perspective alternated between Claire and Jamie. Seeing everything from Claire's eyes kind of bores me, truth be told. I'm definitely going to go back and finish it once I take a little break, though.

Just started reading which I really like, have to have a hit of Kresley Cole, and also Which i wouldn't really recommend, it is okay, and I love Pride & Prejudice, but this book is just a bit..dull really

Vale, I'm really sucked into the Lords of the Underworld series now.

I've been thinking about reading Lords of the Underworld. I've never read anything by Showalter (but I know that KC loves her).

Outlander is tough because it is a very uncomfortable world to be in. (It is refreshing to read an Hr when everything isn't clean, though.) Especially in the later half of the book. I don't shy away from dark things like that, it's just that I can get so wrapped up in a story it feels like I'm there. When reading wars, rape, prisons and underground locations I can feel smothered and depressed.

I slowly read Incarceron because prisons makes me reaaaally uncomfortable. It's a great book (Hugh Jackman is doing the movie and I'll definitely go see that). Now I'm going to read the sequel and that will probably also take me a week.

I tried the first book from "Lords of the Underworld," but I didn't like it at all. I can't even remember if I finished it.

"Outlander" has been hard for me for multiple reasons. Gabaldon's style is a bit overly descriptive for my tastes, first-person POV isn't my favorite, and in the 600 or so pages that I've read so far, not that much has really happened. Some parts of it just feel so...monotonous. I have about a quarter of the book left, and I'm really hoping the action picks up toward the end here.

I've never heard of "Incarceron." I'll have to look it up.

apparently Gena Showalter and Kresly Cole are Bff's... they've been together from a young age. Sometimes when you read Showalter, you get to parts that seem completely "cole induced". Like in her atlantis series. I still want to give Showalter's Lords of the Underworld a try though.

Harper I didn't think the first Lords book was that successful as an intro. But I assure you, the series really finds its stride. I'd give it another chance. I think you might like Anya.

I could see Cole and Showalter bouncing ideas off each other. I think that there are a few similarities, but I feel that's more across the paranormal romance spectrum, and not necessarily between Cole and Showalter. Although KC is in my top five of authors, I do really like Showalter's books.

In the book Into the Dark coming out in May, there is an interview that KC gives to GS and it's hysterical! it shows that they truly do bounce ideas off each other, and it says the Nix and Torin will get their HEA in their own series :(

I'm currently reading Ecstasy Unveiled. The new one from Larissa Ione in her Demonica series.Has anyone noticed (well I don't know who's all read the series, but....) there's an uncanny similarity between Wards writing and Ione's. Not the plot or anything crazy like that. Just the way the words and sentenses are being structured....
Doesn't take anything away from the story.... It's great so far

Ilse, I didn't notice that with Ione. I felt more like that about Lara Adrian and Jessica Andersen being too similar to Ward, and not as good.

They're pretty good. Not as good as Immortals After Dark, BDB, or Demonica. The concept is a lot more basic. But, Adrian's a good writer.

I am reading Suzanne Brockmanns first book in the Troubleshooters series and am really liking it so far.

Am also re reading Lover Avenged.

Lara Adrian is on my to read list, i can't wait to get stuck into another PNR series.

I'm reading Ecstasy Unveiled now. I think so too. I'd thought it was just the medical stuff playing games with my mind.

I've heard that about Lara Adrian. I'm waffling on to get it or not. If it is fun I don't care about originality so much. Buffy comparisons pretty much ensure I'll pick something up, for example.

I thought that Jeaniene Frost was similar to Ward when reading First Drop of Crimson. As much as I love their books, I laugh out loud every time "rode like a bat out of hell is used (multiple times in Ward's case). Meat Loaf isn't what I want playing in my head when reading romance (too late).

I really liked Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. When I started reading it I didn't like how similar her world was to JR Ward's world. But the more I read it the more differences there were and Adrian's world finally became very original to me. You should definitely put it on your reading list. They were so good that I couldn't put them down!

I really like the Guardians of Eternity books. Shes not my favourite PNR writer, but i feel shes worth reading. Im trying to think of some similar writers.... possibly a bit like Nalini Singh or Gena Showalter - although different too! Hope that helps lol :)

Has anyone read Bad Moon Rising by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Fang and Aimees story. If so, is it worth reading? I kinda lost interest in the series and have read some disapointing reviews about it. In saying that I have all the other books in the series and see there is a new book coming out soon called No Mercy about Dev Peltier and one of the newly mentioned dark hunters, Samia, which sounds like it may be more like the first books in the series. Any thoughts?

Hi Bunzy and Suzanne; Nick came back from the dead like a character from "days of our lives". Apparently he ended up being some big shot Malachai (created from the 1st chaos of the world). Something or the other. Bad Moon rising was just a dissapointment for me, I spend so long waiting for the damn book, and I'm really pro wolf, but Fang and Amy's story dragged and was rushed both at the same time. I guess I lost interest in the Dark hunter world.... I dont see how Kenyon can revive that series. Apparently Nick's new series'gunna be more YA.

Is Secret Fire one of her earlier books? I have to say I don't really like those, especially the Viking ones as there seems to be a lot of forced sex. I prefer Johanna Lindsays more recent books, especially the Mallory series.

I am reading Lara Adrians Kiss of Midnight and it is good so far, not as good as BDB though, it seems like BDB lite sometimes. But am already in lust with Lucan, so, so far so good!

Yeah, there was a lot of rape going on in some of her older stuff. The Malory series is my fave by her.

I'm working on Halfway to the Grave. It's going slow because we're in the middle of moving, unpacking, and painting/cleaning/prepping. I feel like I'm going crazy and when I have downtime I find myself online instead of reading. My brain is fried right now.
