Caleb nodded, extending his hand. "Caleb. Good to meet you properly. And I don't know if you see them when someone's murdered... I bet our teacher would know."
"I guess some things you don't want to know," Caleb agreed. He wanted to ask why she'd originally asked the question, but didn't. "There are good omens, too, though. Maybe we'll learn about those."
Medea watched their conversation with interst. "My cousin said he saw a Grim," she put in suddenly. "And nothing happened to him, but the next day, he read about a murder just around the block from where lived." She shrugged dismissively. She didn't really believe it. "It was probably some neighbor's mastiff, or a stray."
Avery tried not to mind Medea talking to the Slytherins. Ravenclaw and Slytherin had always gotten on well, anyway. But he couldn't help feeling betrayed by Caleb still. "That's interesting," he said.
Caleb nodded, trying to meet Avery's eyes. "Very interesting. I wonder if they only affect the people they want to."

Medea smiled at Avery, her eyes slightly shadowed. "Isn't it? Interesting, I mean. Do you know anything else about Divination, like the Grim? My father never put any emphasis on it..." She glanced at Caleb, too, mystified by how similar they looked. But Caleb was a Slytherin, and her opinion of Slytherins was more than a little sullied.
Caleb watched Lyra, feeling a twinge of concern. I hope she doesn't feel sick again.
Avery grinned. "My mum loved Divination in school. She taught me a bit about it... There're the usual ones that muggles picked up on... I can't remember much."

Caleb decided to list a couple good omens, trying to cheer Lyra up. "Well, there's the acorn; that symbolizes unexpected gold or something, and the sun is great happiness."
Caleb nodded. Her smile looked real, but... "Yeah, I'd rather have the sun any day," he said. "Though I suppose even that can't help you unless you choose to let it."

Annabelle got up and smiled towards the class, "Today we will learn how to work with tea leaves." Then tea leaf cups started flying onto the tables and lading gently.
((HI!))
Caleb watched with interest, pulling his cup closer to him.
Avery let his cup settle and peered inside.

Medea sighed and swirled her tea around, then followed the directions. She stared down at the tea leaves expectantly, then rolled her eyes. Wait, this is stupid. They're just tea leaves. She tried to pick out any patterns, but gave up and waited for the professor to give more instruction.
Medea glanced at Ivi, and a smile tugged at her mouth. Obviously the Hufflepuff girl had the same dubious outlook as she did. Medea bent over her tea leaves again, frowning suddenly. Actually, there was a shape there. It looked like some type of tree, and maybe a bird?
Avery swirled the tea around. "I honestly can't remember what's supposed to happen."
This is rather inconvenient, Caleb thought, looking at the empty seat at his table. Oh, well. He swirled the tea and looked in. ((Be back in the morning.))

((Aw, ok. Bye!))
Medea glanced at Avery and laughed. "Yeah, I have to agree." Then she pointed at her cup. "But look, there is something funny looking," she said with a sarcastic smile. She flipped through her book and finally identified it. "The arm, the myrtle tree, and the perching bird," she announced dramatically to Avery. ""New plans which bring about a meeting with someone who will become all the world to you."" She rolled her eyes and slammed the book down. Then she realized what she had just read to him and went red.

Medea glanced at her guiltily. She had sorta already done everything the teacher had just said. But then, it looked like most of the students had. She shrugged to herself.

Anni made a face as she drank the tea, it tasted nasty. Pouring out the remaining liquids, she blinked at the tea leaves, trying mentally to form them into some shape that might resemble something from the book. It just looked like a blob.
Looking closer between her cup and the book, she began to see perhaps a candle, gallows, gimlet... whatever that was... hemlock, and perhaps rosemary? Reading more of the symbols, she made a face. None of them, no matter what, seemed to bode well for her.
((Candle.—This is significant of trials, worries, or illness.
Gallows.—An omen of great distress and tragedy.
Gimlet.—You will be unpleasantly reminded of a disagreeable fact.
Hemlock.—The shadows of your past life have an inconvenient habit of appearing at the most awkward moments.
Rosemary.—Memories of the past will mar your future.))
((Poor girl, she's got troubles. Gtg.))

A blob. Great, just great. She turned it over and over, turning her head, everything, trying to figure it out.

Lizard, A Peaked Cap.—An expected visitor is not to be trusted."They aren't good."
Onions, An Otter.—Those in whom you trusted have betrayed your confidence and divulged a secret.
