Desperado (lethallovely) Well of course! I can be nice upon occasion! I'm not just the lit perv everyone thinks I am, you know! I have emotions & goals & dreams & stuff! *tear* Okay, I'm done. Back to looking up naked pics on Craigslist.

Gokce G | 7 comments Thanks Danielle, oh I love the pretty gowns :)

Thanks LethalLovely, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and obsess over books as I read along :)
Lol, I already love the banter!

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments Wow! Lady Huntress - a small world indeed. Cant get much less romantic than public health I suppose, (anal glands??) but proves my point - intelligent people read romance...but there are so many misconceptions out there.
When my boss found out I had a romance published his instant response was to sneer and say 'Not a Mills and Boon I hope.' Little did he realise I'd been turned down by Harlequin!

You're very welcome, Gocke. It's nice to know your already liking this group.

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments Notice what I did with your name there - Lady Danielle (oops!) But I think Lady Huntress is rather fetching, dont you?

message 557: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (last edited Nov 06, 2010 03:28PM) (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I like Lady Huntress. Nice ring! I didn't mind doing the anal glands. I know that sounds weird. I felt like I was helping the pet. I was also strange in that I preferred doing healthy pet exams and vaccs to dealing with sick, dying pets. Now, I don't have to worry about dying patients. I don't miss that at all! I do miss doing spays and neuters, though.

message 558: by Grace (new)

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments I love all the animal stuff, dealing with pets and owners is fine, its the 'internal politics' ref the partners that's a killer. Does my head in!
'Lady Huntress' is a great name...in fact I may just have to use that at some point down the line. Always on the look out for evocative names.

ohh im not discreditingwhat ppl or myself sometimes describe some novels as "cliche". I have a hard time finding one that i really like because im very limited in the genre itself (some historical, some contemporary thats about as far as i go) although i LOVE THEM!!!!! capial feeling!! ;) Im so glad we can find something as powerful reading itself to bond.. !! xxxxxx

happy reading! ;)

OH my!!! thats Exactly me.. well im Bio-chem/MD and have always described myself "with a mind of a mad scientist and the deep core soul of an artist" and so so hard to live up to that!!! hmmm u have no idea how good ur post made me feel im not so lonely here..!!! :)

message 562: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Atumn, you are not alone. I've always been amazed as my duality as a person. :)

Grace, I left practice mainly because of the business aspects. And it was a huge emotional drain on me. Definitely wasn't the right fit for me, although I had clients who loved me (not to sound arrogant).

message 563: by Grace (new)

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments Know exactly what you mean about the emotional drain. I adore animals, have 5 cats myself, but there comes a time when you have to let go. Sadly some people think that by throwing money at a problem you can make a pet live forever...and then get angry when you cant make it happen. Part of the grieving process I know, but comes close to mental bullying at times.

message 564: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments And then there are the ones who assume that their pet should be treated for free, just because. It's a business, and you can't just give away services all the time, even if you want to.

message 565: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 871 comments My goodness, I'm way outta my league here with all you science peeps. I'm just a stay home mom who works 10 hours a week as a barber(my job pre children)....and yes, barber, not hair dresser.

message 566: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Heidi, you have the toughest, most important job!

message 567: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 871 comments I guess so...but sometimes feel my brain isn't exercised enough, guess its why I read.

message 568: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments I get that...currently I watch my niece and she's 18 months and I totally feel that way at the end of the day. It's nice to come on here at least and use whole sentences!!! :-)

message 569: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 871 comments LOL...My kids certainly use whole sentences now...(ages 10 and 11), somethimes too many setences...LOL But whent hey were little man, I was crazy! Just a year almost tot eh day between them in age.

message 570: by Grace (new)

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments Heidi - I tryed cutting my boys hair once, foolishly thinking 'How hard can it be!' Answer - a lot harder than it looks. An 'emergency' trip to barber later I've never been even vaguely tempted to try again.

message 571: by Heidi (last edited Nov 09, 2010 11:48AM) (new)

Heidi | 871 comments Hahahaha, I ahve been cutting hair since I was about 13 or 14...the soccer and football teams used to come to my house and sit in the kitchen and wait their turns to get their hair cut. Thats how the whole barbing thing began. I worked with an old time barber for 5 years(out of high school) then trained my cousin to take my place when I left to be a mom. The old barber passed away last year. Now I am back working just the 10 hours a week. Together my cousin & I run the shop. Its alot fo fun!

message 572: by MashJ (last edited Nov 09, 2010 11:57AM) (new)

MashJ | 733 comments It's nice to hear you scientific ladies talking. I get pretty guilty about not doing the home mum thing too sometimes. I'm in the world of finance and sometimes when the numbers get really big and the deals get horribly complex (and depend on my understanding of tax law to get em right) I really like to come home to some escapism.

I have to admit to being a feminist in "real life"- I couldn't hack the idea of not supporting myself. I am determined that my daughter (7 yrs) will be aware of all the opportunities open to women and hopefully that she will make the world her oyster.

message 573: by Grace (new)

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 68 comments Just goes to prove we all need a little (historical) romance in our lives!! For me the historical part is important because it gives more of a distance to the modern world. How about you ?

message 574: by MashJ (new)

MashJ | 733 comments Yep for the historical element- I can only read contemporary novels about other countries so that the travel element gives the distance.

Reading "aga sagas" or "chick lit" about events in the home counties or London gives me the heeby jeebies. I can't read contemporary pure romance either even if based overseas- I usually want to give the women a kick up the proverbial to get themselves sorted out.

message 575: by Heidi (last edited Nov 11, 2010 08:06AM) (new)

Heidi | 871 comments I just love history that why I love the Historical aspest. I truly think in a previous life I lived in Victorian times! LOL

message 576: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Heidi, being a mom is a tough job. Kudos to you. I certainly wouldn't be able to hack it as a barber, either. We all have different gifts. Mshj, I am not a big fan of business, so my hat's off to you as well!

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments Lady Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "Atumn, you are not alone. I've always been amazed as my duality as a person. :)"

Oh, thats very nice to read .. i feel alone as mushroom in this world with this oversensitivity .. and calculating brain.. it drives me nuts i tell ya.

i think i could understand why you stepped aside from practicing ur profession. In honest truht, i love animals so much.. i wouldnt be able to bear the emotional share that comes with it.. animals are just.. so pure at heart. its hard to wrap around the idea of letting them go. Oddly enough, is a process i go through every day with ppl.. but im more detached or more realistic? anyhow! my respects! i have my rescue dog.. and i think it was the other way around. i admire such noble souls.. animals and the ppl that go on the field do it because their heart is into into it.. Not much to say about MD`s sadly... so little ppl REALLY DO care for patient care.. i feel like a salmon swimming upstream **sighs**

(sorry for getting carried away once again. i enjoy this jive way too much :) )

happy reading girls!

YES. and to be honest, no one on my book does it as well as LK. I think she is like a phsycologist the way she crafts the personalities and their journeys. its definitely an "out of body experience sort of speak? hehe" but yeah i agree with u on that one. contemp. is the other kind that i read, but i have to be careful with it because sometimes triggers me. (im single, and with so much emotional luggage to embark into real love waters.. )

well, im not mom. so, i dont have much words of wisdom in that dept. but one thing i tell u, and that is that is good that u acknowledge the need for balance for Independence as well as the need and importance of love and its emotional connections. Now, that balance is something that once again only u can navigate a way there. ur daughter is only 7, so its a good age work on that..

best of lucks!!! (((((huuggs)))
