"You know if you're gonna be so scared maybe you should walk," Jacob said.

"Like I just said LET ME DOWN." Susannah said.
"Yeah I know," Jacob said letting her down off his back. "I was just messing around with you. Getting under your skin."
"Yeah, well you're too good at it." Susannah said as she started to follow him on foot."So, Jacob, if you have been in these woods so long, do you have any favorite things in them?" Zach asked.
"Yeah, I have two favorite things right here," Jacob said taking Kahlan and Susannah's hands. He knew it was kinda corny but he laughed at his joke anyway. Kahlan blushed slightly and laid her head on Jacob's shoulder.

Susannah just smiled as she walked. She liked the feel of his hand in her hand, but he couldn't have two girlfriends. She decided she would let Kahlan have him as a boyfriend, just as long as she got to keep him as a friend.
Jacob kissed Kahlan on the top of her head, then did the same to Susannah.Rebecca watched them wondering what Jacob would do.
Does he have to do that? Susannah thought. She was starting to like him. But he was dating Kahlan, and that was ok, but it was just a lot harder to stay likeing him only as a friend if he kept doing things like that.
Jacob looked down at Susannah. "You alright?" He asked seeing the look in her eyes.
Susannah looked up at him, "What? Yeah, of course."
"Ok," he said. He pulled her in close and wrapped his arm around her.
Susannah casually shrugged his arm off, and held his hand instead.
"What I can't put my arm around you?" He asked.
Susannah felt really bad when she said this, but she felt it was the right thing to do, and that she had to, so, feeling like the biggest jerk in the world she said, "No."
Jacob tried not to show the hurt on his face. "Oh... um... ok," he murmered.
Susannah kept her gaze focused ahead. She hated it. She really did, the fact that she had to say no. But, Jacob couldnt have 2 girlfreinds that would be...weird. And since Kahlan already showed what would happen if she got in her way, she figured it was just better if she kept herself distanced from Jacob.
Kahlan put an arm around Jacob's waist, and he put his arm around her shoulder.
"You know what guys? I have to go. I just remembered that my mom wanted me home early today because she wanted me to help her with her pottery. Wooopeee! (sarcasm) anyway, I need to go." Susannah said. She turned to Zach and Rebecca, "You guys can either walked back in the same direction we came to get out, or you can keep following Jacob." then she let go of Jacob's hand, and walked away, back the way they had come.
Rebecca turned and followed Susannah
"I'm going to continue to follow you guys." Zach told Kahlan and Jacob.
"I'll meet you back at your place later," Rebecca told Zach. Kahlan turned to Zach. "So how did you end up dating my cousin?" She asked.
Rebecca caught Susannah's arm. "Hey what happened back there I thought you liked Jacob?"
"Um...Well, I was under her control, then she fell in love with me, and the hold broke. At first I was pissed off, but she liked me, and it's really hard to hate someone who likes you, then, the more I knew her, the more I liked her." Zach said."I do." Susannah said as she stopped and faced Rebecca.
"Then what the hell just happened?" Rebecca asked.Kahlan smiled. "Yeah it's hard to control people who your in love with." She looked up at jacob. "Sorry again."
"Sure, sure. No big deal."
"He tried to hug you and you blew him off," Rebecca said. "Why?"
"Because...well, he cant have 2 girlfriends, no can he? But, he liked Kahlan first and I think its only fair if he stills dates her. I'll just like him as a friend. But then he put his arm around me, and it was a lot harder not to like like him, so I shrugged his arm off. I dont want him to have to choose, so I'm not going to become a choice." Susannah said.
"Well I guess," Rebecca said. "I mean technically she sort of loves him more then you. I mean there's a chance you'll find someone else she couldn't."
"Exactly. Things are just much simpler this way." Susannah said.
"Don't take this the wrong way but I know exactly how Kahlan was feeling," Rebecca admitted.
"I didn't like you at first. I thought you were after Zach," she grumbled.
Susannah sighed, then chuckled, "I am not after Zach, no worries." she said laughing at the ridiculous thought.
Rebecca laughed too. "Well I know that now. Now you like Jake."
Susannah stopped laughing, "What does this have to do with how Kahlan was feeling?" she asked.
"Well the confessor power is based on love, and I have a small amount of confessors blood. So while I can't confess people I can still cast a spell similar to confession. The other part of the confessor is that when they fall in love it's really strong."
"And...?" Susannah asked, not sure where this was going.
"I'm part confessor, so my love for Zach is really really strong. Almost as strong as imprinting. If anything ever happened that we couldn't be together I don't think that I'd be able to survive the separation."
"If this is how Kahlan feels, then what i'm doing is all the better. At least it's not for nothing. Kahlan will be happy, and as will Jacob." Susannah said.
"Hey I'm gonna go see if Zach's at his place yet," Rebecca said. "Wanna come?"
Susannah thought. "No. I lied that I had to help my mom with her pottery, but I feel bad about lying, so I'm really going to go do it."
Rebecca shrugged. "Alright, I'll see you around." Rebecca went off to Zach's place hoping to find him there. She had been away from him for a while already and was starting to feel anxious.
Zach was walking around his house, without really having anything to do. He hoped Rebecca and Susannah were ok. He hadn't seen Rebecca in a while. But then again, Rebecca was very capable of taking care of herself.Susannah helped her mom with pottert-just about the most boring thing she could have done.
Rebecca saw Zach walking around the house, silently crept up behind him, whipped him around, and kissed him. "Hey babe," she mumbled into the kiss.
Zach stood still for a second, trying to figure out what had just happened. When he finally realized that it was Rebecca kissing him, he kissed her back, then pulled away, "Hey. You ok?"
"Why wouldn't I be," Rebecca said softly pecking Zach on the lips.
"Come on," Rebecca said grabbing his hand and pulling him into the house. She sat down on the couch, pulled Zach down next to her, and kissed him again.
Zach kissed her back. "You know this is all we ever do, kiss. I think we should make it interesting. I ask you a question, you answer honestly, and you get a kiss, then you ask me a quetsion, and vise-versa?" Zach suggested.
"Okay," Rebecca said. "You first."
