"Yeah, yeah," Caroline said, then she dragged Patrick out to help her get their suitcases up to their room.

"Do you need any help picking up?" Rebecca asked when she had finished her pie.
"Nope." Anabel said as she collected the dishes. "Why don't you go in the room with Zach and Brian and make sure they don't start wrestling in the house, alright? They love to do that, no matter how many vases they've kicked off the coffee table."
"Alright," Rebecca smiled moving into the other room.
Brian had Zach in a head lock upside down on the floor. They'd had the presence of mind to push aside the coffee table, but Zach's foot was dangerously close to hitting a rose vase in the middle of it as he flailed to get out of his dad's hold.
Without anyone seeing Rebecca flicked her wrist and the case slid to the other side of the table.
Zach finally got some purchase by shoving his foot into his dad's back and pushing him away, moving to twist around and pin his dad down instead.
Rebecca watched, amused. Also keeping an eye out that they didn't break anything.
Once finished Anabel entered the living room and sighed. "Alright, break it up, you two or take it outside." she said, smiling.Brian groaned and stood as Zach released him. "You, Ana, are no fun." he said, slinging an arm around her shoulders.
"It's not my job to be fun. It's my job to make sure you guys don't wreck my house." Anabel replied.
"Oh, it's your house now?" Brian said with mock surprise. "And here I thought it was our house."
"Well, start acting like an adult, love, and maybe I'll share it with you." Anabel replied.
Brian laughed, and kissed her cheek. "Deal." he said.
Rebecca pulled Zach down next to her on the couch. "You're a lot like your dad," she said quietly.
"What do you mean?" Zach asked, slinging an arm around her shoulders.
"That for one," Rebecca said, gesturing to his arms and then his dads.
Zach looked between the two. "Hm. Interesting." he said, playing with the ends of her hair.
Rebecca leaned into him, resting her head against his shoulder.
Zach turned on the tv and flipped through the channels as his parents also sat down.
Rebecca moved to sit on Zach's lap, leaving more seats open on the couch.
"Caroline! " Anabel yelled up the stairs. "Stop being a party pooper and get down here!"
Rebecca laid her head against Zach's chest and sighed happily, listening to his heart.
Caroline and Patrick came down and sat as well.
Rebecca ran her fingers through Zach's hair absently.
Zach and his dad laughed at this same things on the television, most of then stupid and not supposed to be funny, but they laughed anyway.
"You're lucky," Rebecca said to Zach softly.
"I know." Zach replied quietly, "But what makes you say that?"
"You have your dad," Rebecca said.
Zach nodded. "Yeah, most of the time."
"Better than what I've got," Rebecca shrugged, then whispered, "I think that's why she hates you."
"I know." Zach sighed. "But I can't help that."
"It's been a long day" Patrick said, standing up. "I'm turning in."
"Goodnight," Rebecca said. "It was really nice meeting you."
"You too," Patrick said, taking Carolines hand, and they went upstairs."You need to be nicer to her." Anabel told Brian once they'd left.
"I don't try to be mean! She literally twists everything I say. It's like talking to a genie." Brian said.
Anabel laughed. "You cannot let me carry on a serious conversation, can you?" she said.
Brian smiled and shook his head. "I'll try." he said.
Rebecca curled more into Zach, pressing her face into his neck.
Patrick yawned. "Traveling takes a lot out of a person." he said, standing. "I'll see you later," he added, rustling Zachs hair, "Nice meeting you," he said, patting Rebecca's shoulder. Then he headed up to bed.
Rebecca turned to see what was on.
It was an old sitcom that Zachs mother was very captivated by, though Zach had long ago tuned out and had started playing with Rebecca's hair.
Rebecca leaned hear head into his hand.
Zach ran his fingers through her hair.
"I love you too." Zach replied softly, his ears turning red.
Rebecca ran her fingers through his hair.
"Rebecca, you'll be a senior next year too, right?" Anabel asked during a commercial.
"Have you thought about what you're going to do after high school?" Anabel asked.
"Well, there's time I suppose." Anabel said, then fell silent as the commercial ended and her show started again.
Rebecca laid back against Zach, half watching the show.
When the show ended, Anabel said goodnight and went up to her room.
Rebecca turned so she was straddling Zach's lap. "That was not as bad as you made it out to be," she said. "And I think Caroline might like me."
"It's usually worse. I think you eased everyone's nerves a bit." Zach said, tucking a stray bit if hair behind her ear. "No one wanted to look bad in front you. You made quite the impression. If I wasn't already madly in love with you, I certainly would have been after today."
Rebecca smiled, playing with the hair at the base of his skull. "Glad I could help."
