"Bye," Jacob said giving Susannah a quick kiss on the cheek.

Jacob left to talk with his dad and Sam about any ideas they might have about what happened.
Susannah went to her mom's room. Something had been bothering her..."Hey mom?" she asked when she went in."Yeah?" Ms. Summers answered.
"Was there anything...different about Dad?" Susannah asked.
Jacob called for a meeting of the pack, and the elders. At the meeting there were all the main members of the two packs: Jacob, Sam, Leah, Seth, Quil, Embry, and Leah. Also presant was Billy, and Seth and Leah's mother how had taken her late husbands place in the council.
"Well...he had some black tattoos that snaked up his arms. Almost looked like flames." Ms. Summers said."I don't remember that." Susannah said, sitting on the edge of her mothers bed.
"You probably wouldn't. He died when you were young and he often wore long sleeved shirts." Ms. Summers replied. "He also wrote in a journal. I could never figure out what language it was in, but I still have them."
"Can I look at it?" Susannah asked.
"Sure." her mom said. "It's on the top drawer over there."
The council discussed a lot of the old stories and tried to figure out if there was anything that would be able to do what Balthazar did, only no one knew who it was.
Susannah took the book, and went to her room. Opening it, at first all she saw were a bunch of squiggles and symbols. After a second glance, however, the words started to make sense, even though she was certain she had never seen this language before.
The council figured that whoever it was would have to be a shape shifter and new to the area.
2-29-1993Susannah was born today. She has all the signs of a firestarter. Red eyes when she was first born, a flame shaped mark on her wrist, and red hair. the book said. Susannah glanced at her right wrist and there was a mark on her wrist, one she'd never paid much attention to. She continued reading. I don't know what this means. I don't want her to have to control her anger. I know that I've had some regrets when I've lost control of my anger and accidentally started a fire. But her mother is so gentle. I can only hope that this makes it harder for her to release her power.
The council discussed with Jacob possibilities of who could be the shape shifter. He mentioned Adrian and Balthazar but that he didn't believe it could be them but theyvsaid he should keep an eye on them. "I have one last question," Jacob said after everything had been discussed. "Is there anything in any of the legends about pyros?""Pyros?" Seth asked.
"People who can start fires with there minds," Sam explained.
Susannah flipped to another page of the journal. It's been two years and Susannah has yet to start a fire. I cannot tell if this is good or bad, but I hope it's good. The only problem is that today I saw her touch the flame of the candle on her birthday cake. I'm grateful that no one saw because she did not get burned and that would have caused question. Jason Shadow brought his son Christian over for Susannah's birthday. Little Christian shows signs of being a shadow spinner, and that's good because a firestarter is nothing without his shadow spinner. I know I'm grateful to have Jason as a friend if nothing else.
"There isn't in any of the legends," Billy said. "Why do you ask?""Because Susannah is one," Jacob said
Susannah flipped through the journal, learning things about her father that she'd never known. It was like the man she knew to be her father never exsited at all.
"You should try to learn as much about her kind as you can," Quil's grandfather said.Jacob nodded. "I'll do that."
Then Susannah stopped at an entry that greatly puzzled her. I fear for not only my life, but the lives of Susannah, Jason, and Christian as well. The shifters love the blood of the firestarter. It's what fuels there powers. And I have a feeling that Susannah could be one of the pure hearted, making her an even greater target.
The meeting finished and Jacob went back to Susannah's. It was getting late so he decided to take the window.
Susannah was reading through the journal, completely unaware of any of her surroundings as she tried to understand the man her father was.
Jacob quietly sat next to Susannah and wrapped his arm around her.
Susannah leaned into him before looking up at him and smiling. "Hey. Find any information?" she asked curiously.
"Not really," Jacob sighed. "Whats that?" he asked looking at Susannah's dad's journal.
Susannah moved it closer to him so he could see it. "It's my dad's journal. My mom had it, and when I asked her about him, she told me I could look at it, though she'd never been able to read the language." she explained.
"What's it say?" Jacob asked not recognizing the characters.
Susannah started reading what she'd read out loud to him.
"Wait I'm a shapeshifter," Jacob said. "And I'm pretty sure that I don't want to kill you. Also you used to know Christian?"
Susannah shook her head. "That's just it, I don't understand it. From what I can tell, my father didn't know anything about the werewolves, and I don't remember having ever met Christian before I knew Rebecca."
"Well you were really little when you met Chistian so that explains that and maybe the Cullens weren't here yet."
"Maybe..." Susannah replied. "But look at this. I've never paid much attention to it before." she held out her right wrist, showing the flame-like mark.
"It's the mark of... what did your dad call it... firestarters?"
"Right." Susannah said. "I just wish I remembered if he had one or not."
"Well my guess is probably. But what does he mean by purehearted?"
Susannah shook her head. "I don't know. He never explains it."
"Well I guess he wouldn't really need to in a journal. He already knows what it means."
"But he explains everything else." Susannah pointed out, turning the journal over. When she did that, a slip of paper fell out, written in the same language.
"What does that say?" Jacob asked.
Susannah read it aloud. "Dearest Susannah, if you're reading this, then it means that I've passed, and my greatest fear is coming true." she read.
"Ummm," Jacob said at a loss of anything else.
"You could be one of the purehearted, and that means exactly what it says. That you have a pure heart. But that makes you even more valuable to the Hinnu shapeshifters."
Jacob stayed quiet listening for anymore.
"Their power runs on the blood of the firestarter, but a firestarter who is one of the purehearted is even more rare."
"Well you're definitely one of those," Jacob said quietly.
"They can change into anyone and anybody, and are virtually undetectable. The only way for you to know one was coming is that their spirits come giving you a message that they're coming."
"That think," Jacob said. "The one that pointed to you and Zach that day after school I thought it meant the mord sith but I guess not. But Zach's not a firestarter is he?"
"No...but could he be a purehearted?" Susannah asked.
"I guess," Jacob said. "But who could she be? The person coming for you. Does the note say anything else."
Susannah shook her head. "I don't know."
"Well lets compile what we do know," Jacob said. "We know that you're not a regular mortal. We know that you're purehearted. We know that there are shape shifter's after you and Zach. We think we know Zach is pure hearted too. We know that whoever we're looking for had to have moved to this area after that day we saw that spirit."
"But that could be anyone!" Susanah said. "We got taken by the mord sith shortly after that, and anyone could have moved between that time."
"Well, it's getting late, and I'm tired of thinking about things that should be impossible." Susannah said, closing the journal, and putting the letter back inside it.
