Empaths?

Does anyone know of any books that have to deal with Empaths? I want to do some research on them but also I want to get the feel of what some authors have already done so does anyone have any books that have an empath as a main character?

The only books that come to mind for me are the Star Trek: The Next Generation novels that have Deanna Troi, the Enterprise's Betazoid counselor, in them.

I don't remember the book ever focusing on his sympath side that much. I thought they would explain it more, but it didn't.

His whole character revolves around his sympath side. You mean she never explains all the details/existence of sympaths? I figured that was because he was only half. He's still vamp.

Yes, I thought she would go into more detail about his sympath side. Like his thing at the end of his penis. WTF? It's like a clamp or something. How about why Xhex had those clamps in her body. I know it' because of pain, but why? I thought we'd get a better explanation.

LOL. It's more like a hook actually. It's based on a cat's anatomy, I think. I guess she just threw that in there. xD

Oh, I think we'll learn more about Xhex in her book, but the clamps were mostly to keep her distracted so that her more malicious urges were subdued (sympaths are not nice people, LOL.) You know, when a person's in constant throbbing pain, it's draining and distracting and definitely doesn't leave any energy to hurt other people.

The only thing else that I can think of with Empaths is an old episode of "Charmed" where they have to deal with an empath! lol

You can think of it as an evil empath. They tend to want to exploit people's weaknesses, e.g. fear, pain, etc.

oooo interesting. So empath feels peoples emotions whereas a sympath feels peoples bad emotions and amplifies them?

Kind of. They both feel bad emotions, but the sympaths basically enjoy them, or at least find them fascinating to watch, LOL. That's why they're exiled. They're sociopaths. I don't think sympaths have the power to amplify emotion though. Not entirely sure. I'd have to check the book.

Haha, I am just that good. LOL. Actually, it wasn't hard. I already kind of categorize them by character type, werewolf, psychic, etc. LOL.
