Veronica Dale | 8 comments Today is “little Christmas,” the feast of the original Santa Claus, St. Nicholas. A good day to start a giveaway of the first two books of my fantasy series Coin of Rulve! Here’s what it’s about:

When fire and blood aren’t enough, when one is alone but still standing, what does heroism look like? Five stars for the first two books of the Coin of Rulve series.

---“A potent mix of fantasy, romance and intrigue.” D. Donovan, Midwest Book Review.
---“The twin brothers are on a collision course, each of them tortured by the other’s absence throughout the first two books. I can’t wait for Book Three.” Gretchen Rily.
---“Dale’s characters are extremely poignant, and their battles with both internal and external demons are memorable and page-turning.” The BookLife Prize

To celebrate the upcoming Time Candle, the third volume of my Coin of Rulve series, I’m giving away the first two books to help readers catch up with the story.

Blood Seed, book one: Eighteen-year-old Sheft suspects there is a connection between him and a deadly entity that haunts the nearby Riftwood. So when he and Mariat fall in love, Sheft must decide whether to share with her the devastating realization of who he is discovering himself to be, or to embark alone on the dark journey his destiny demands.

Dark Twin, book two: Having been subjected as a child to a dark lord’s mind-probes, Teller barely remembers he has—somewhere—a twin brother. When the beautiful Liasit begs Teller to use his power of fire to free her enslaved people, he faces a crucial test. Of the three names among which he must choose, one will break his heart, another will break his will, and the third will condemn what is left of his soul.

The giveaway starts today, December 6. To enter to win Blood Seed, click here. https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
To enter to win Dark Twin, whose giveaway opens tomorrow December 7, go here

Christopher Lee (christopherleeauthor) | 14 comments Greetings Fantasy Readers and Authors,

I am Christopher Lee, wordsmith, copy writer, rebel philosopher, and general pain in the ass. I recently self-published my debut novel on Amazon. Nemeton: The Trial of Calas

The new cover still hasn't update here on GoodReads....

Nemeton is Book One of the Hallowed Veil Series and it follows a number of characters living in the antediluvian, mythic past.

For millennia the Nemeta have kept the fragile truce in the antediluvian world. A peace built on an ancestral curse upon mankind's primal link to magic. After six thousand years, Man has tired of enduring subjugation. Kings and peasants clamor. Thrones tremble at whispers of war between the primeval foes of Man and the Fae.

Amidst her studies of mythical artifacts, a young Seræphym uncovers designs to reverse the hex. A scheme that implicates her own people as heretics. Faced with the apocalyptic consequences of magical war, Samsara must choose between her freedom or that of her people.

Even if it means eternal service to the order that threatens to exterminate her kind. http://amzn.to/2Bj6VeN

I do hope some of you consider taking a look! I would be glad to look at anyone's work and give an honest review as well, though my schedule is filling up fast!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Robert Enright | 1 comments Hello there :)

I recently required the rights back to my Urban Fantasy book from my publisher, due to their lack of investment and horrendous editing and have decided to go self-published with it! (Wish me luck!)

My book is called DOORWAYS and is the first in an ongoing Urban Fantasy series about another world that runs parallel to ours. Here is the blurb:

There is more to the shadows than just darkness

The Otherside is located at the fringes of our world, hiding in plain sight and existing within our shadows. Shielded from humanity, the Otherside is watched over by the BTCO, a highly secret government agency, whose members all possess 'The Knack', a genetic anomaly that allows them to see this other world.

Franklyn 'Bermuda' Jones is the BTCO's finest agent, the only human to have passed to the Otherside and returned. Gifted with the ability to physically interact with both worlds, Bermuda reluctantly stands between both worlds, pining for the life he had to leave behind and the daughter he can no longer see. Teamed with Argyle, an enigmatic Otherside warrior, Bermuda is assigned the case of a missing woman who has vanished under mysterious circumstances.

As Bermuda delves further into the disappearance, he uncovers a threat that could destroy the truce between two worlds...and finds himself in a race against time to safeguard humanity's very existence.

The book has been re-edited and has a nice new cover. Also, the sequel is due out in March 2018!!

Anyways, always happy to chat or discuss books! (Am a big reader and am currently revisiting The Passage trilogy!)

Rhonda | 8 comments Asper by Rhonda Smiley 16-year-old sorceress, Milla, loses everything in an instant—her father, her home, her life as she knows it—over a sacred scroll that can merge Asper with Earth.

Ignited by grief, fueled by anger, she sets out for vengeance, but discovers she’s no match for the murderous queen who seeks to rule both worlds.

Determined, Milla flees through a portal to Earth where she can master her craft without being hunted, and return for the kill. While there, she bonds with 17-year-old Parker who, despite his conniving ex-girlfriend, believes in her.

But when a spell her father cast to bury her memories begins to wane, glimpses of a past she never knew start surfacing. A past so unthinkable, it derails her future.

Should she still do what she set out to? Or risk everything—Earth, Asper, Parker—for the sake of hope?

R.S. Merritt | 88 comments The Zournal Series

A 6 book series that follows a group of wanna be warriors who morph into a dysfunctional fighting force over the course of chasing their vengeance through a Zombie infested USA.

Told in a "journal' style. Hence the Zournal, I know! Clever right? Ziary just didn't have the same ring to it!

The first book is 99 cents. Cheap cause I'm hoping you get hooked and want more! All 6 are on Kindle Unlimited. Most of my reviews are around Sarcasm, Gore, and a bit of Drama. Except for at least one guy who obsesses over comas... He hates me.

If you're not 100% sure where comas go either then join me for an awesome trip!

Conrad | 1 comments Question from a Fantasy newbie: Am I writing Fantasy?

Having spent a very long career as professional playwright, I’m now—God help me—writing novels. Perhaps because plays aren’t regarded as “literature” (who reads plays?), there has never been the questions of “genre.” It works or it doesn’t work: comedy & tragedy, sure, but for a century everything’s been in-between. Whereas, the first thing an agent or publisher wants to know is, “Which bookshelf does it fit?” But I’ve always knocked my forehead on the slats between the pigeonholes.

I’ve always had the bias that Fantasy involves sorcerers, witches, fairies, magical worlds, and have read some good things in that realm, but never felt close to it. Recently I’ve come across stories designated “fantasy” that have a metaphoric extension into the paranormal, but it doesn’t have to be taken literally, can be felt as the central character’s psychology.

So my question is really about marketing, I guess. Our new novel (I write with my partner), GALAHAD’S FOOL (pub. date 6/1/18) is a realistic portrait of a puppeteer who’s trying to create a solo show a year after his wife/partner has died. The story traces the six months of his writing, building the puppets, hassling with his costumer, and performance, and his gradual coming to terms with his grief. Complication: what he plans as a comic spoof turns sharply personal, and he labors to birth a raw myth of love and loss. Sometimes we see him in the grubby process of writing & rehearsing; sometimes we enter the weird, dystopian story itself—and we seesaw back and forth.

I’ve been pitching this as “literary fiction” because I fear that if I call it fantasy I may gain readers who’ll wind up feeling cheated because it doesn’t fit the mainstream definition. “Urban fantasy” conjures up pixies in Chicago (in my mind, at least), whereas Albert’s Arthurian characters are all in his head. Any thoughts?

Stevie Causey | 3 comments My first book is called Ring of Fire

An epic fantasy saga readers are comparing to A Wrinkle in Time, The Alanna Chronicles, and Princess Academy. A tale of magic, mystery, and discovery.

Humans have been at war with Mystics ever since they first landed in this new world. So befriending an elven prince is strictly forbidden. That's just fine with Kala; after all, it was Mystics who killed her parents.
At least, that's what she's been told. But 16 year old Kala is in for a surprise when a botched kidnapping reveals that everything she knows is a lie. Her parents weren't killed by elves, or witches, or anything else magical. Not only that, but they were actually in league with the Mystic Alliance - a group determined to overthrow the human king.
Now Kala must decide whether she will follow their legacy and betray the people who raised her, or turn in the elf who just saved her life.

I am excited to have recently published A Flame in the Night, the first in my new YA Fantasy series, Legends of Aewyr.

A Flame in the Night (The Legends of Aewyr #1) by Holland C. Kirbo A Flame in the Night

In the land of Aewyr, the dark god Maal and his monstrous army of zuhl and malum intend to destroy the world and claim it for his own. Maal steamrolled the continent of Theranyn. He seeks next to conquer the continent of Perravia. The Perravian kingdom of Ceredwyn anxiously monitors the evil forces brewing on the horizon and prays for a savior.

The immortals stand as mankind’s last hope against Maal, but even the immortals have their limits. New hope arises in the form of a young woman, Lakyn Trahearne, who discovers through tragic circumstances that she possesses unexplainable, unimaginable powers she has no idea how to control, much less wield. The immortal Reuel is assigned to train her. He both infuriates Lakyn and strengthens her, while everything about Lakyn stokes Reuel’s buried pain and rage. Still, he can’t stay away, and together, they are electric and explosive, a precarious combination given Lakyn’s unstable powers.

Nothing and no one has stopped Maal’s steady advance, but Lakyn's powers have awakened. The gods have never granted such power as she possesses, even to immortals. When Maal’s forces threaten the Ceredwyn royal family, Lakyn and Reuel must set aside their friction to protect the ones they love. If she can control the untamed powers within her. If one young woman can stand against the darkness that threatens them all.

Peter W Blaisdell | 8 comments Hi All,

The Lords of Oblivion is an action-oriented fantasy. There are no vampires, but the hero is 15 centuries old; no werewolves either though the hero keeps a real wolf for a pet; only two Druids, but they make great enemies when they’re accidentally transplanted to the modern world. There are numerous apparitions, but only one important ghost and she haunts the protagonist’s Tesla; and the world that the hero tries to save isn’t some magical kingdom, but instead modern San Francisco which is itself pretty mystical (link below).

But don’t take my word for it…

The novel was reviewed by The Small Press Bookwatch one of the Midwest Book Review’s monthly on-line journals. Midwest Book Review is a well-established source of quality comment on books and the writing profession. Here is their critique:

“Deftly written by Peter W. Blaisdell, “The Lords of Oblivion” is a simply riveting literary fantasy/magical realism novel about a lethal conflict that starts in the Dark Ages and ends in modern San Francisco, all in the space of one conjuror’s lifetime. Impressively original and consistently entertaining from beginning to end, “The Lords of Oblivion” is especially and unreservedly recommended, especially for community library Science Fiction & Fantasy collections. It should be noted for the personal reading lists of dedicated fantasy fans that “The Lords of Oblivion” is also available in a digital book format.”

Brian Lang | 14 comments Superhero stories are all the rage these days, and each one begins with an origin story. How did Tony Stark become Iron Man? How did the Guardians of the Galaxy first team up? What drove Bruce Wayne to become Batman?

My new series--completed in a single year as part of a writing challenge--tells the origin story of King Arthur. But it's clear from the earliest pages to the end that while you'll recognize the seeds that became the legend, the truth behind the tales is something altogether different. Did he truly pull a sword from the stone? Hold together a nation vs. the Saxon horde? Marry a woman his own best friend had fallen in love with?

The Knight's Journal I - IV recount the true origins the bards have embellished of the legend.

Books II and III of the King Arthur Origins series are on sale now for Kindle.

J. Ellyne (j_ellyne) | 11 comments J. Ellyne
I write erotic epic alternate history fantasy , and have published five novels of a series published on Amazon at
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=dp_bylin...
and on all other online retail sites worldwide.

My books are available on Amazon for Kindle or paperback and at all other Ebook retailers in .epub format.

All five of these books are available free to group members in exchange for an honest review. Message me if interested.

Maginaugh (The Fair and Fey, #1) by J. Ellyne Maginaugh
An exotic young princess from a faraway world comes of age and experiences extreme dangers, passionate love, and loyal friendships in this first of five books about her life and struggles.

Maahilund (The Fair and Fey, #2) by J. Ellyne Maahilund
Sashegh, the exotic young princess from a faraway world, has become a mature woman. After leaving Maginaugh somewhat unwillingly, she sailed across the ocean and found a new home where her people attempt to rebuild the advanced culture they had on Maginaugh.
If you enjoyed the steamy love scenes in the first book, you will be happy to find the love scenes in Maahilund are even more erotic. If the battle scenes in Maginaugh kept you on the edge of your seat, you will find the bloody battles between the Demons and the Elves of Maahilund to be even more riveting.

The Elves of Arthannegh (The Fair and Fey, #3) by J. Ellyne The Elves of Arthannegh
This book, The Elves of Arthannegh, is a true epic, twice the length of the first book. It tells of the beginning of the ending of Elves in our world and the beginning of the beginning of the Arthurian Legend (the romance of Uther and Igraine), all happening in the same realm at the same time. There are several wars: Britons fighting Romans, Saxons fighting Britons, and Elves fighting Orcs. The Elves are involved in all of this. Vainamoinen reappears too, also with a new name, Merlin, and gives advice and visions of the future to both Elven and British friends, manipulating them for his own purposes.
Underneath all the plotting, warfare and bloodshed are two warm romantic love stories. One is the story of Uther and Igraine, the other is the story of Vilya (Sashegh) and the woman she has loved for thousands of years and with whom she always seems to reconnect. The tie between the Elves and the Britons is Igraine who, according to the Arthurian legends, was half-Elven. Because of her, the Elves and the Britons become allies and fight the Saxons and the Orcs together.

The Elves of Avalon (The Fair and Fey #4) by J. Ellyne The Elves of Avalon
This is the riveting fourth book of The Fair and Fey. It tells of the ending of Elves in our world and the first half of the true history of Arthur Pendragon, including his relationship with his sister Anna, aka Morganna Le Fey. They love each other but Guinevere steals Arthur's heart and Morganna and her son go to northern Wales to live with King Lot. The Elves and King Arthur form an alliance to battle both Orcs and Anglo-Saxons. This alliance is a carryover from the alliance the Elves formed with Uther Pendragon, Arthur's father, In Book 3, The Elves of Arthannegh.
An Elf named Vilya is the main character in both books three and four. Merlin is her mentor. They met in a previous lifetime, 8,000 years ago in Maahilund. Merlin went by the name Vainamoinen at that time and for a while he went by the name Gandalf in Middle Earth. Vilya helped Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon, in book three, the Elves of Arthannegh and after his death, she carried baby Arthur to Avalon at Merlin’s urging, to keep him safe. In book 4, many years later after many battles with Orcs, Demons and Anglo-Saxons, a few of the surviving Elves might return to Avalon but not Arthur, not yet anyway.

Two Worlds Changed, (The Fair and Fey, #5) by J. Ellyne Two Worlds Changed,
Arthur Pendragon and Anna Pendragon aka Morganna Le Fey. Elves, Wizards, Dragons, Demon armies, epic battles, epic relationships of love that never dies, It's all here in the final book of The Fair and Fey Series. The battles are more epic than in any of the other books and the sex scenes are more sexy. A must-read finale!
There are twelve famous battles Arthur won to unite Britain. In The Fair and Fey series the Elves are his allies, helping him win. Did you know that real ancient historical documents claim that Arthur's mother, Igraine, was half Elven? Evidently there used to be Elves in Northern Britannia and one of them was Arthur's grandmother. The Elves helped both Arthur and his father Uther Pendragon win their battles and they helped the Elves win their battles with Orcs and Demons -- well most of them anyway. The rest are where the "Fey" part comes in. "Fey" means to have a sad destiny. It is also the word that the word "Fairy" derives from -- an alternate historical term for Elves.
The battle of Camlan, in which other authors such as Mallory wrote of Arthur's death, happened after his 12th victory and as you know, it was a devastating and final defeat. The events that led to that battle, the battle itself, and what happened to Britannia after Arthur's death are covered in this final book of the series. These events in Britannia are only half of the story. All legends say Arthur was taken to Avalon after his death to see if he could be healed by Avalon healers. Didn't you always want to know if the healing succeeded? Well now you can, thanks to my fifth novel.

Ashley Uzzell Hello everyone!
I love reading and writing fantasy, including its many sub-genres. My book Once Upon a Pastry is about a witch, a baker, and a spell that will change both their lives. Set in a medieval-ish fantasy world, this story is humorous and fun.

James Sausville (paladinx333) | 2 comments The Hirem Bantazzar Chronicles is a new fantasy book series that just launched in March. The first three books are available on Amazon and they can be read for free on Kindle Unlimited.

The First Chronicle Of Hirem Bantazzar

Demons Never Prosper: The Second Chronicle Of Hirem Bantazzar

Holier Than Thou: The Third Chronicle Of Hirem Bantazzar
Holier Than Thou The Third Chronicle Of Hirem Bantazzar (Hirem Bantazzar Chronicles #3) by James Sausville

(Note: I find it difficult to write a summary of a book without giving away too many plot points. The following summary is intentionally vague as I did not want to give away any of the surprises in the books.)

Hirem Bantazzar was a young nobleman who was rather fond of sword fighting tournaments. His familial lands and all of his kin were wiped away by an act of great corruptive magic while he was attending one such tournament. Fearing for his life, Hirem fled the continent and joined a crusade of the Church of the Holy Enlightenment. (This is all told in greater detail in chapter three of book one.)

The campaign in the western desert of the southern continent does not go as expected and Hirem is forced to resign his commission. After returning to the northern continent a chance encounter with a mysterious magi leaves Hirem with magical powers. He discovers his new powers by accident and is rather horrified to learn of the magic that he now possesses.

Hirem seeks magical instruction and he is able to learn to use his new found abilities. Although his command of magic is sometimes tenuous at best, he is able to use his magic to fight evil and save the innocent. Along the way he gains several interesting magical allies.

There are currently six books planned in the series. The first three have been published and the fourth book is about fifty percent complete. I tend to write rather quickly so I expect to have book six out by the end of the year. If the series proves popular I have enough ideas to fill at least twenty books, so the sixth book will most likely not be the end.

I like to think of the Hirem Bantazzar Chronicles as the best fantasy book series that no one has ever heard of. I hope that some of you will enjoy reading them. I am in need of reviews on both goodreads and Amazon. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Barbara White | 4 comments Hello all!
Just published my first book. Available through Amazon for kindle or in paperback. It is a fantasy adventure book that I think has something for everyone. There is a bit of the classic mythical creatures but plenty of new races and creatures combined with magic, mystery, a touch of romance and a quest to defeat evil. Check out my book.
Shadows of Night

The Shadow Lords will return.
Sarah and David were orphaned at 2 years old on the same day when both Sarah's parents and David's parents died in a mysterious plane crash. Placed in an orphanage where they have lived for 12 years together, their lives are drastically changed when a confrontation with a school bully causes a frightening change in Sarah. Transforming out of rage into a creature with blue skin, talons and wings begins both of their journey into a secret, fascinating world of winged people where magic is normal and myth is real...but even in this wondrous new world there are prophecies of a returning ancient evil.
The Shadow Lords, whose dark magic and lust for power, can only be brought back by the blood magic of one particular pair. With the help of the Black Riders, whose goals are to free the Shadow Lords and their dark magic into the world, the prophecies are in danger of being fulfilled when it is found that that it is Sarah and David's blood the seek.
Thrown into a world where their blood is sought out for evil, there is still hope, as they are also the ones with the potential to destroy the Shadow Lords but first they must learn their own talents, magical strengths and power and they must join with five companions of their own kind before the Shadow Lords are released. They all must learn enough to lead the war against the Shadow Lords, Black Riders and their followers. Will they have the time, the skill, the strength, the power and the love to save them all?

Feel free to share and review . Thank you, I hope you enjoy and happy reading.

Simi Sunny | 185 comments Hey, KJ. I checked your book. It sounds a bit more like the Mortal Instruments series, but it very different. I hope this is better that. Are you familiar with The Mortal Instruments series, though???

K.J. Moullen | 5 comments hmmm.. interesting analysis. I am not overly familiar with the series however I do know they made a movie of one of the books. I looked up the series on Amazons and if get the reviews this series did I would be a happy camper. Not sure of the similarities that you see but thanks for the feed back :)

Simi Sunny | 185 comments You're welcome. And oh, I just assumed that you did. I don't wanna reveal it, if you're interested in reading the series. It's just that mom is trying to get away from the society that she lived because of the man he married, and the mom wanted to live a normal life with her daughter whike trying to keep the secrets away from her. But hey, like I said, I hope your book is much better than the series I read, because it was more drama than action.

Wake Up, O Sleeper by Jed Wright
Jack Wilson found himself riding in the back of a pickup truck wondering how everything could have gone so wrong. He looked up the road and caught a glimpse of the strange, enclosed city looming in the distance. His father had agreed to leave the safety of their secluded cabin in the mountains and travel hundreds of miles with him to try and find Lori. It had been over two years since he saw her last. Jack loved her desperately but had no idea how she felt toward him. They had prepared for months, planning out every detail--or so he had thought. Now Jack's father was dead, the plan was totally shot, and he was making it up as he went along with his life in the balance. He had four days to infiltrate the city, find Lori, and escape before he would surely be discovered and killed. He couldn't have dreamed how the next four days and a mysterious letter from his father would forever change his life. Wake Up, O Sleeper is a page-turning thrill ride that you won't be able to put down. The shocking ending will leave you asking: 'Am I awake or asleep?'

Melissa Grzanka | 7 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Melissa Grzanka. I'm not new to Goodreads, but am new in a sense that I am just now having a chance to really mingle and meet all you wonderful people!

I previously published my books under my maiden name of Melissa Collins. Due to some confusion with there being another author of the same name, it was decided to re-release my books under my married name of Melissa Grzanka to avoid any misunderstandings and accidental association of my works with the other author and vice versa.

My book series, The Myatheira Chronicles, is a planned five book series with the first four books available in print as well as on Kindle. It classifies as High Fantasy and is set in a world I created called Myatheira. Though each book is a separate story that follows a different main character, they are all connected and include the same characters who simply take on different roles in each story, going from main to supporting, or supporting to main.

I'll include a description of the first book in the series called The Vor'shai: From the Ashes - Young Leyna finds herself orphaned and abandoned, living on the streets of a foreign land, struggling to make ends meet in a world she is too young to understand. Taking any job that will provide her shelter, Leyna assists an instructor at a military academy, learning to wield a sword by watching the recruits. When food and lodging become too expensive and war encroaches on her home, she makes the decision to join the men in battle, hoping to conceal her youth and save enough money for a better life. A chance meeting with a brigade of soldiers opens the door for Leyna to become more closely involved in the coming struggle than expected. However, when the truth is revealed that enemy forces had a hand in the death of her mother, nothing will keep Leyna from seeking revenge. The inspirational tale of a woman who will sacrifice everything for retribution, Leyna's story sees her pushed beyond physical and mental boundaries on a journey of self-discovery in a quest to avenge the brutal murder of her mother and save her people from the hands of evil.

I would be very grateful for anyone willing to read my books and leave a review. Here is a link to the amazon page for the first book (though if you find it on Goodreads, please try to select the version published under Melissa Grzanka and not Melissa Collins, as the version under Collins is no longer in print) https://www.amazon.com/Myatheira-Chro...

Here is a link to my Goodreads Author page, as well, for anyone who would like to follow me: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy!!

my name is Norah J. Stone, and my first YA Fantasy novel, Hidden Revenge, Book One in The Kingdoms series, will be released June 16, 2018. It's already up for preorder on Amazon.

Here's what Hidden Revenge is about:

THEY TOOK EVERYTHING FROM HER ... BUT IT JUST MADE HER FIGHT EVEN HARDER.

For years now, the Lower Kingdom has been ruled by fear. Most people barely scraped by, and their Fae neighbors did their best to destroy everything human - they enslaved mortals, imposed death sentences for the slightest infractions, and outlawed human magic, depriving mankind of its best means of defense.

Lia's old life is gone. Along with her home. Her friends. Her family.

But Lia won't be beaten down. She won't be silenced.

No matter what it costs her, Lia won't rest until she gets her revenge.
