I think they meant she wasn't supposed to be a real option, or an elite. Not so literal
Yes, but she still was still in the Selection, but Erik is just there for Henri's benefit. Not trying to win Eadlyn. But, even though, America and Maxon aren't the type to follow the rules, the Selection is for the people, and trying to calm them. If they allowed Eadlyn to marry someone that wasn't in the Selection, that could cause a huge problem. Also, Eadlyn cares about her country, and at the moment, the Selection is creating slight peace. She wouldn't risk it.
I think that the idea of the Selection was having something cool and happy to get the people through a rough time. Just having events like it was meant to keep the peace, and having a marriage, to almost anyone, would do the same thing. I guess that's just in defense of my love for Erik and how, though Kile is great, he desperately wants to get away from the palace and life there.

Omg , why is everyone saying Kile Kile Kile, or Hale Hale Hale , it's Henri Henri, Henriii!! , forget the language barrier and I swear in the book Erik was putting doubt in her mind about the language barrier. He was a like, even if you get married you would be so distant bla bla bla.

OH MY STARS!! YOU PEOPLE ARE MAKING ME CHOOSE!! Torture. Plain Torture. I mean, I guess Kyle is nice :333 And Erik...Ummm and that other guy who doesn't speak english..But, how would they communicate. Wouldn't that just break Erik's heart? And the ending of the book though...O_O It was perfection. People I ship with Eadlyn: Kyle, Erik, and Henri
I have one question. Why do people ship Eadlyn with Erik? There are a few reasons why they wouldn't end up together.1. Eadlyn's selection was just to calm the citizens down
2. America and Maxon wouldn't allow her to marry someone not in the Selection, because it could cause the people to become unruly.
3. Eadlyn cares about the country dearly, and wouldn't risk the momentary peace that the selection was creating.
Why do people ship Eadlyn with Kile. I mean, I love him as much as the next person, but he absolutely hates the castle and life there. If he won the Selection it would be absolute torture he could never get away from.

I have heard many other fans stating that Erik rather likes Henri than Eadlyn. I am surprised that in this particular forum not many people consider about it. :D They are so sure about Erik and Eadlyn or Kile and Eadlyn that they don't think about other possible unexpected outcomes. ;)
Kiera is known for such unexpected plot twists and pairings, thus I am prepared for whatever couple she may think of. That's why, even though I like Henri, Hale, Erik and Kile, I don't support any particular pairing. In this way, I won't be disappointed no matter who Eadlyn will choose. I have a preference toward Kile and Eadlyn (this pair makes sense to me mentally, aesthetically and plot-wise), but I will just wait patiently to see the final conclusion.
Everybody says that they never end up with the childhood friend, but if you think about it, Kile never was the childhood friend. They hated each other before the selection, and were never friends. Also, if Kile did win the selection, it wouldn't be complete torture. Eadlyn said, I forgot to who, that even if he did win the selection, he wouldn't be the king exactly. So, if Kile did win, he wouldn't be forced to always stay, because he wouldn't need to rule the country. He could be free to become an architect.

Eadlyn's husband will simply be Prince Consort, not King. The same happened to Ahren. He married Camille who is the future Queen of France, so he is her Prince Consort now. :)
Yes, thank you for reminding me. So, Kile would be the Prince Consort, not king. Kile wouldn't be forced to spend every waking moment in the palace, and he would still be able to pursue his dreams. If he was the king, this would be a different situation, but he won't be the king.

I don't actually know who I will want Eadlyn to end up with. 'Cause at one moment I like Kile, another Henri even Ean (I like how mysterious he is. He has more to say if we only got to know him more) then Erik. At first I never imagined Erik having some feelings with Henri but thinking about the possibilities and re-reading the book last 2 nights. I was like, why not? It's not impossible. It really might be.
Though I still don't know how would I react to this scenario. Well, like Kiera said, she hopes that we will wait for her, then I will patiently wait for her. :D
I think Kile but I don't want him cooped up in the castle all the time. Just my thought. But you know it is all up to Kiera Cass. So excited for the book to come out.

I acually do think that I can understand why, with all the reasons (that I understand) to contradict all those facts. I mean, I understand your reasons (and I think Kile would be a more reasonable choice), but here my opinion to twist them :
1/ In the Selection, at the end of the book, she seems to develop herself and take it seriously, for herself, to find true love (or whatever it's called). And, I don't know where in the book she said it but there was someone in her mind, she thought about someone when i-dont-remember-who asked her if she cared about one guy. SOOOOoooo maybe she actually became infatuated with one Selection-guy ?
2/ Maxon and America cared a lot for their daughter (and sons - I mean, America had a stroke because of her son's choice). And that, even it's not in the laws of the kingdom, they will accept her "true love" even if it's not through the correct way of the Selection.
3/ It seems the country isn't very peaceful because of her. Because she doesn't look like her father. I think, that, perhaps, the population would appreciate Eadlyn to choose the one she trully cares about, even it's not one Selection-guy, just one trully related to. It can be a good plot twist and spice up a little the story.
What I'm trying to say is, that, we can always find a good reason to twist the story and the rules and imagine how Eadlyn can end up with Erik (and actually with EVERYBODY - we can't predict what the author's going to do). And in a fandom, we can ship everybody with anybody (I mean, people ship Dumbledore with Harry or Snape with, like, Ron ? - pretty weird for me but, all ships exist), even if it doesn't seem possible.
Moreover, I saw abovementioned that there will be a LGBT+ character in this last novel and... Yeah, even if I'm team Erik (then Henri), I would be totally okay and, well, happy if the LGBT+ couple is Henri/Erik or I don't know.
Kiera is the master of plot twist and weird couple, so I just have to wait and see what's going on.
Anyway, I just swim in my OTP ocean and wait for the last book. So happy to see all those theories guys :)

I think Eadlyn will end up with Kile at the end, but only if she gives up something for him, like maybe the throne because of his dream of traveling and seeing buildings and having a place that is his own. I remember her line of thinking when she learned how self-sacrificing her mom is to her friends and others. Eadlyn said she never thought she would have to do the same. So perhaps she'll learn to be self-sacrificing in the final book. From who? I guess we'll find out from the final book. On the other hand, I know that she tries really hard to be the queen her people expects her to be someday, but according to Ahren, Eadlyn's way of ruling would be harsh and as a person, she's narrow-minded. In order for her to be the queen she should be, she definitely would need to make some changes in her life, her attitude, & her personality. The one person who comes to mind for me to help her with that is Erik, provided his character continues to be good in the last book. His humility & other good qualities may rub off on her in the next book. With their complementing personalities, they may make a really good match in the end.
So there…it could be Keadlyn or Eadrik… I prefer the latter but will still be happy with the former too, however it'll turn out
I think there's going to be a giant plot twist, which I have seen coming, and Eadlyn will end up with Erik.
I really want Kile but i am afraid that it will be Erik after some moments between him and Eadlyn but I am totally team Kile.

Please please let it be Henri. He's is such a charm and feels like the Maxon of the story. In my opinion :D
Im going for Eric Or Kile i mean they are both definitly have a connection. I was going with Eric but then i thought what if Eric and Eadlyn get together. Isnt he a translator that means he would basically be stabbing the guy who talks finnish. Omg i totally forgot his name(the guy who talks finnish).But on the other hand Kile would be soo.. cute with Eadlyn since he would do lots for her and not to mention she thinks hes a good kisser (lol). I think i would be on more of Kile's side. So im team Kile. I wonder who she will choose. But i was also thinking of FOX. Dose she have feelings for him cuz she gave him another chance or did she just feel bad and is gonna sent him home at the last minute

I would definitely say Kile. But Erik is such a dreamboat and understands Eadlyn. What to do.... he's not a suitor but maybe Eadlyn can fall for him? Henri will always a have a special place in my heart, but I don't think it'll work out between him and Eady. But for now, it's either Erik or Kile.

I like Kile and I want him to win but I don't see the spark between him and Eadlyn. They're so cute together but I don't think Eadlyn will keep him locked in the castle for the rest of his life. So, Erik or Hale will probably win.
