C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soiless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter.

It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor that transform ordinary men into near-invincible warriors. Men trade kingdoms for Shardblades. Wars were fought for them, and won by them.

One such war rages on a ruined landscape called the Shattered Plains. There, Kaladin, who traded his medical apprenticeship for a spear to protect his little brother, has been reduced to slavery. In a war that makes no sense, where ten armies fight separately against a single foe, he struggles to save his men and to fathom the leaders who consider them expendable.

Brightlord Dalinar Kholin commands one of those other armies. Like his brother, the late king, he is fascinated by an ancient text called The Way of Kings. Troubled by over-powering visions of ancient times and the Knights Radiant, he has begun to doubt his own sanity.

Across the ocean, an untried young woman named Shallan seeks to train under an eminent scholar and notorious heretic, Dalinar’s niece, Jasnah. Though she genuinely loves learning, Shallan’s motives are less than pure. As she plans a daring theft, her research for Jasnah hints at secrets of the Knights Radiant and the true cause of the war.

The result of over ten years of planning, writing, and world-building, The Way of Kings is but the opening movement of the Stormlight Archive, a bold masterpiece in the making.

Speak again the ancient oaths,

Life before death.
Strength before weakness.
Journey before Destination.

and return to men the Shards they once bore.

The Knights Radiant must stand again.

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments WOOHOO REREAD FOR THE WIN.

I'm so excited to be rereading this! Getting back into Roshar with Shallan, Kaladin and more! I shall probably read this pretty quickly!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments It's such a great book. I'm really excited to give it another read as well. And Kaladin is my favorite, so I'm prepared to cry just as much this time around as the last.

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments My favourite character is probably Szeth. I don't know why some people don't like him, seeing as he is just such a good character with awesome character development!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments I really like Szeth. I'm interested to see what happens wig him in book 3. That should be interesting.

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments What I am really excited for is seeing the cover of the third book. I hope it has Wit on it or maybe Adolin or Dalinar!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments I just want the third book. Even though I know it probably won't come out for another two years.

message 8: by Max (new) - rated it 5 stars

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments It's coming out next year. Each two years, a book comes out! :D

I know right now they say that, but I'm not so sure. It was four years between the first two.

And I'm not sure why this is only saying I've added this and not rated it...

message 10: by Max (new) - rated it 5 stars

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments Lol I am just a little fact person haha. It was four years til Book Two because Brandon was writing A Memory of Light and that took up a lot of his time since it wasn't his original work so it'll definitely come out next year. :)

message 11: by Max (new) - rated it 5 stars

Max Francis (max_franciss) | 372 comments Haha it's so hard to resist starting it right now, but I am going to hold off until I finish Warbreaker or Half Bad.

message 12: by C.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments Haha. Yeah, I know he was doing all of that. And I really hope it does come out next year. There are already two of his books coming out, three would be great! :D

Sibil | 2361 comments Can I join this? :)

message 14: by C.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments Yes. You certainly can. :)

Sibil | 2361 comments Yay! Yhank you :)
I just have a couple of question:
1) I have the italian edition, it's a problem?
2) What is the pace of the reading? :)

message 16: by C.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments Nope, not a problem. I'm sure there will be some differences due to translation, but nothing major. And we're just reading at our own pace. I'm rereading this so I'm planning to read around 4-5 chapters a day.

Just post thoughts whenever you have any and we can discuss together. :)

Sibil | 2361 comments Ok, thank you again! :)
This book was waiting for me for months and months and months, so I'm so excited to read it, finally!!!!

I missed him so much! *_*

I can't finish this book for the end of the month and I'm very sad, but I am loving it! (Not that I had doubts, Sanderson is always awsome!)

message 48: by C.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 3665 comments Yes, the interludes were interesting and I could see some connections on first reading, but they connected a lot more the second time around.

Sibil | 2361 comments Can I keep commenting here until I finish the book, even if may is finished?
