Hi guys! What were your fave books of the Challenge?
I’m also curious what were your fave tasks? Were there any tasks you found difficult which made you happy when you found a book to fit it?

So this year I read basically all graphic novels except for the first book I read.

It feels nice to have come full circle because I reread 2 graphic novels that I read in past Challenges, 1 from last year and 1 from I think 2022.

Here are all the graphic novels I read:






I enjoyed them all except Primer and I would highly recommend the rest of them. I’m obsessed with the first one and thoroughly impressed with the last one. I definitely need more sequels to all of them👏🏻

I re-read The Dark Talent, which is awesome.

I especially enjoyed The Unforgettable Logan Foster and Princess of Glass.

Omg Princess of Glass!! I read the first book in that series, I feel like maybe you recommended that to me but I can’t remember now.
Anyway I loved the first book! Would you say the second book is as good as the first book? I know it follows a different fairy tale/love story but there’s still a connection to the first book

I read 2 graphic novels and 2 books for this challenge. I found some of the prompts hard to find graphic novels I could get from Libby quickly, also was kind of worried about finishing my last book since I spent time with family especially on the weekends so I forced myself to read most of the day and finish it. I like breaking up my hobbies and the story got more emotional than expected.

Graphic novel
this book was interesting, I got excited seeing a service dog with a vest with a background character in one illustration, Service dog content has been appearing on my youtube lately so I know a bit more about them. Doggie has nothing to do with the story only appears on one page.


This has to be my favorite of the 4 books I read and the last book I read for the challenge. Definitely recommend this it was timely with all the AI talk thankfully I have not seen anything like what goes down in this book discussed because it is problematic. The most similar thing appeared after I finished it there's apparently an AI generated "Actress" getting backlash, for good reason, right now.

I also recommend reading the other books by
Elle McNicoll. I will be working through them this and next year.

I discovered The Shape of Lost Things I really liked it.

Yeah, Princess of Glass was at least as good as the first. It's about one of the other sisters, a few years later, and a Cinderella retelling but it's very different from the traditional version.

And The Train to Impossible Places was great, too.

@Aurora have you got Hoopla as well? Does your library offer it? I’ve not used Libby before but I love Hoopla and it has a very big graphic novel library! It’s got loads of comics and has added manga in the last few months as well. I highly recommend Hoopla!

Yes my library does Hoopla, I use it for some things. I read comics and graphic novels, I read Raven from Hoopla.

I’ve only read two books for this challenge but it ended being both of my favorites! I highly recommend both of them!

They Called Us Enemy
Such a good memoir. It is very heartbreaking and it talks about a time that is not talked about in history. The POV of it being from a young kid in this dark time is so pivotal in the story and makes it so much more impactful. This should be required reading.

Stargazing
This book and The Prince and the Dressmaker has cemented Jen Wang as one of my favorite graphic novel authors. Stargazing is such a heartwarming story exploring friendship, identity, and cultural traditions. I loved the friendship and I was rooting for our main character even though they were flawed. I wanted to read it again after finishing it. I loved it and I definitely need it in my collection.

Also I’m sorry Kadi that you didn’t like the sequel to Primer. I still want to read it and try it. I meant to read it in this challenge but I’m glad I went with these two because they were very strong

@Ilsen you might like the Primer sequel more than me! It made me think that my reading tastes have changed since I read the first one, so I approached it with a different perspective probably.
Also I've had They Called Us Enemy on my TBR for years, I'm glad you enjoyed it, definitely want to read it too!

Yea I reread the first Primer book in July and I loved it so I think I will like the second one! But that always sucks when you read a book and it’s not as good as you remember it!

Oh, I finished the Land of Roar trilogy -- that was really good.
