Calamity Montana Series by Devney Perry -> Starting September 8th, 2025

Duke Evans didn’t expect to interrupt a beautiful woman in a staring contest with a bison on his favorite hiking trail. He also didn’t expect to see her again after rescuing her from the surly beast. Only, she lied to Duke. She gave him a name as fake as her hair color. According to her driver’s license, her real name is Lucy Ross, the famous country music singer whose sudden disappearance has been a hot topic in the media over the past two weeks.

He’s not sure why Lucy lied about her identity or why she’s in Calamity. And she’s not talking. Instead, she offers him a bribe to keep her secret.

But Duke doesn’t want her money. He wants to know why this woman is on the run. And as long as the star shines on his badge, he’s going to find out.

So far I'm enjoying this. Its simple. It isn't hitting me like her other series but I think the famous trope doesn't really do it for me that much. Its a nice dynamic the sheriff and the country singer but its going to blow up somehow

Ifs moved quite quickly but I kinda saw it going that fast the chemistry is quite good between these two.
So I also fuess Travis is going to be the problem in this one. I just hope its not like in The Eden series..

That was a fast paced ending, although perhaps a bit predictable that Duke takes the bullet for Lucy. It's rotten that the label was so shady. I'm glad book two is about Everly. I did enjoy this and would say it's a solid 3.5 for me. (hide spoiler)]

I agree I think its an easy 3.5 stars. I'm very curious about Everly and Hux. Excited for that one.

(view spoiler)[ So agree with you both. Way predictable of an ending and wrapped up quick! I had no guesses it was a backup singer. How did she get access to her personal emails. I figured it had to have something to do with Scott, the sleeze. Wasn't expecting the bullet, I just knew he was going to save them somehow. Overall solid 3.5. Didn't enjoy as much as the Lark Cove Series but did enjoy it (hide spoiler)]

I think its like some weird default some authors seem to use to make someone scarier. I kinda think its lazy.

That was a really quick ending. I didn’t expect a backup singer. But once it was her, I knew she either had help from someone at the label or police station working her case. 3.5 stars for me too.

Can’t wait to get Everly and Hux’s story. I think maybe she married him to help with his custody case.
