June bugs and Summer Jitter Bug Reading Challenge
TO PLAY
Option 1
-- Do a traditional spell-it-out challenge by
selecting a word or words from the following bug or dance lists. Then spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name. As always, if the first letter of a title starts with 'A', 'An', 'The', etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word. FYI, you can opt to do a combination of any of the above
Example of a Spell-it-out:
T - Tom Clancy author or Patriot Games
I - Irreconcilable Differences by Kiki Howell
K - Knight, Theta in The Diviners by Libba Bray
Option 2
-- Read books which have covers with different bugs or people dancing different dances
Hint: tattoos of butterflies and other insects count
Option 3
-- Read books with plots or titles that relate to bugs or dancing (your interpretation)
For example:
- characters participate in different dances
- there is talk of bugs--say ants at a picnic, a person being stung by a bee, a person being bugged by a fly, etc.
- the name of a dance or a bug or the word bug or dance in the title
Option 4
Mix or Match any of the above!
Duration
June - August
Levels of Play:
- The Bee Bop; Read 1 - 5 books
- Ants in your pants; Read 6-10 books
- The Fly Swatter; Read 11-15 books
- The Mashed Mosquitoes; Read 16-24 books
- The Bug Catcher; Read 25+ books
