LOL If it'll help C, when we finally get around to the dreaded Mary/Elizabeth BR's... I'll read a Mary book WITH you... and then we can read an Elizabeth one together :P
We can make a whole rotten go of the dreaded sisters BR sometime next year Jen and Lyn. Maybe Kate and Aly will want to join in as well?
I just bought The Queen's Mistake by Diane Haeger. I've recently become a major fan of Katherine Howard and have been looking everywhere for books on her.
I recently bought,The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette,
The Queen's Mistake: In the Court of Henry VIII,The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn
Along with 2 other non-historical books. :)

I really enjoyed The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette and The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn! Great choices!! You'll have to let us know what you think of The Queen's Mistake.
I've just started reading Death and the Chapman, which is tangentially related. Set in England 1471, it is implied in the first few pages that our hero will cross paths with the Duke of Gloucester (later Richard III, of course) at some point. So far, so good.
Went to the used book store and broughtNicholas and Alexandraand The Queen's Lady.I am starting to get really interested in russian royalty. Many of royal families around 19th and early 20th century can be traced back to Queen Victoria.
I've just started The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn and recently bought I, Elizabeth. I am quite obsessive about these two ladies lately.

Thanks Priya. I will check this one out. Have you read Alisa Libby's book about Katherine Howard? It is The King's Rose./ I just finished it so I am on sort of a Katherine Howard kick right now.

Nicholas and Alexandra is one of my faves. In fact, it is the first book that I ever read about the Romanovs.

I want to read both of these... I'm quite obsessive about those two ladies ALL THE TIME lol

Sabrina, you may be familiar with this one already, but in case you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend Legacy by Susan Kay, which IMHO is the best novel written about Elizabeth Tudor. Margaret George also has an excellent one about Elizabeth coming out next month, though hers only covers the later part of Elizabeth's reign, from the Armada to her death.

Excellent - I might have to bounce some questions or thoughts off of you while reading the book; if you don't mind. I haven't read many books on them yet, but have done a ton of research online. Have you ever been to theanneboleynfiles.com? I find that one to be fun and probably spend way too much time there.

I have and it's a fantastic site! I'll definitely try to answer anything you want to know, but if I can, someone here will certainly be able to :)

Everyone that I know who has read Legacy has raved about it. I still need to get to that one.
AND the Margaret George one on Elizabeth is highly anticipated by many in both this and the Tudor group.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of the Elizabeth book, Lyn, and I think it is Margaret's best one yet, which says a lot. Elizabeth was a very complex woman and both Margaret and Susan Kay capture that very well. I also really liked Norah Lofts The Concubine, about Anne Boleyn. And Karen Harper's series about Elizabeth, of course. Norah Lofts also did one called Madselin, about a young Saxon widow forced to wed a Norman lord, which I liked very much. It was very realistic and gritty even, nothing romanticized but very compelling and credible.

Norah Lofts is one of my favorite authors from way back (showing my age, now). I need to do nothing but read to catch up on all these books, lol. Margaret George is one of my faves, too. If you consider this one her best that is certainly saying something. I can't wait until it comes out.

Thanks to your list of recommendations, Sharon.
I just finished Robert Low's Oathsworn series. Excellent. I really enjoyed it. It is an extremely well-researched trilogy on the Viking Age.
*bops head* Not trilogy. *must drink coffee*They are The Whale Road, The Wolf Sea, The White Raven, and The Prow Beast. Really good novels not read in the US as much as they should be.
Thanks for the recommendation, J.R. I am going to check them out and I would like to read more about the Vikings.
Ok, I'm just this once going to mention one of my own novels because for four days I'm having a giveaway on Smashwords. It's a historical but not a royal set in Scotland (*shock*) 1296. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... And use coupon JN34T to get it free.It ends 23 March, 2011. I promise I won't mention my own novels again. *blush*
