Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Hi all!

Currently waiting for painkillers to kick in, but will do my best to take in all the rules once my head doesn't feel like it's being squished to a pulp any more 😆

message 6: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments I'm happy to compile completion posts at least for the first month or so. I still have no clue when stuff is going to hit, but until it does, I have plenty of time 😁

If all goes to plan we hope to move around June, but it all depends on hubby and work (he's self employed and needs to take it when it's there!).

🎪 Calling All Carnival Performers! 🎪

The Carnival Master is ready to spin the Wheel of Fortune and reveal your first adventure—but first, your team needs to check in!

As soon as your team has checked in, I’ll give you your first wheel spin results! Books can be started anytime after this announcement, but cannot be finished until the Challenge Start Date (1-April, midnight your timezone), so the sooner you check in, the sooner you can dive into your Reading Rides, Food Vendors, and Genre Attractions.

Hi all!

I’m currently on a road trip but of course had to make time to check in. I’ve got a friend visiting until Sunday so I’ll be busy for the next few days. She leaves before the challenge officially starts 😭 and then I’ll be in post-visit/holiday funk so I’m sure I’ll find solace in my books. 🤣

message 9: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 998 comments Hi Everybody! Looking forward to playing with you guys :)

I feel like our team name should be something like:

Lazy River Readers
or
Lackadaisical Literates

or something... :P

Reading Ashley’s post, it sounds like we check in as a team to get our first wheel spin results. I’m not sure if this requires our entire team to check in here or if anyone of us can just go ask for a spin.

message 11: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments I think the idea is the teams checks in individually first, so she knows everyone is accounted for and doesn't need to be topped up with reserve players. Or that's my guess anyway, lol.

message 23: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Woohoo! I actually have a self-help book lined up for April 😆

message 24: by Sammy (last edited Mar 25, 2025 01:27PM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments How do we want to do this? Do we want a SS to plan/organise ourselves (another team has a fab one they are letting others use), or do we want to try and hash it out in the thread? Obviously we have the spell-out and word finding tasks where we can't read for the same ones, so some way of keeping track of who is reading for what will be helpful.

message 25: by MN Lisa, Mistress of Mayhem with a Method (new)

MN Lisa (lisa713mn) | 1790 comments Mod
Feel free to take a copy if you choose the SS route.

Columns J and K will populate based on other things. For example, J will populate when a completion date is entered.

Once the full post is done and the link put into column G, column K will populate.

Just make sure to update for your team name on A1 of each tab.

Let me know if you have questions!

message 26: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Thanks Lisa! 🥰

message 27: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Ok, I copied Lisa's SS and tweaked it for our team. But if you guys prefer not to use an SS, that's ok too.

message 28: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments I am always going to vote for a spreadsheet. Since we can finish the three at different rates and spin again for that subsection, I think posts might get more confusing.

message 29: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments Also, I am good for the spell-it-out that once everyone gets their one letter to just let the other letters be filled, as people read at different rates and not try to make that section even as we can always get another word.

message 30: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments Sammy, it is view only. Can you make it so anyone can edit?

message 31: by Laila Jane (new)

Laila Jane (axlilxlala) | 154 comments I agree, I will always vote for a spreadsheet. Especially for a challenge like this with so many moving parts. Since books can’t be completed until April, I’ll probably fill in some of my books closer to then since I’m focusing on finishing my March books right now

message 32: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Apologies, I thought I'd opened it up, but obviously not 😆

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Lexi wrote: "Also, I am good for the spell-it-out that once everyone gets their one letter to just let the other letters be filled, as people read at different rates and not try to make that section even as we ..."

Sounds like a plan. especially as everyone will have life happen at different times, and just going with the flow makes far more sense for the spell out!

message 34: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments Yay, thank you. I’ll add my planned books after work today.

message 35: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 998 comments Spreadsheets all the way :)

message 36: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments My books works for two words so I put both down in case someone wants one of the words

No idea what tasks I can cover. I still have a good friend in town and won’t be able to plan April reads until Sunday or Monday.

message 38: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa), Bibliotherapist (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 1333 comments Mod
How are you all doing, lazy readers?

I'm okay. Reading slowly. I stayed home from work today so I'm hoping to get some reading in this afternoon, if this darn sinus headache will let me.

message 39: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments I'll probably be done by this evening. But no rush for anyone else. I have a stack of books I need to get through asap 😆

If you guys can do me a favour and drop a comment here in the thread if you finish a book and you're the last in that attraction to do so, then I will get the completion post made up. I will probably start the posts later this evening and then it'll just be filling in what's left as and when they're done.

message 40: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa), Bibliotherapist (new)

Sounds good, Sammy!

I didn't read anything today because of my stupid sinuses and allergies :(

message 41: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments I feel for you!

My evening plans were scuppered because hubby decided to skip out on band practice.
He doesn't seem to realise it's rude to get between a woman and her book. 😆

message 43: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Typical. I only have 1 book left 😆

Was going to finish it this evening, but I'll drag it out until tomorrow.

message 44: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments I was going to finish mine tonight as well so I will wait until tomorrow so that will be two of us. I also only have one left unless someone wants to share a letter from the spell-it-out.

message 45: by Laila Jane (new)

Laila Jane (axlilxlala) | 154 comments Finished a book for the Food task, which was the last one for this attraction.

I did notice that 2 people used the word Bold for their books, but according to the rules no repeating. Are one of you able to change it?

message 46: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments Good catch, fixing mine now

message 47: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 778 comments I fixed it by changing Sammy's. I hope, Sammy, you don't mind. I used the amazon preview for page number. It is a much longer book and had multiple of the words.

Lexi | 778 comments Trying the links from the spreadsheet but leaving the official check in for Sammy. I am in a virtual meeting at 3 AM here so I don't guarantee I am functioning well

message 50: by Sammy (last edited Apr 09, 2025 04:19AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3765 comments Don't mind at all Lexi! For some reason none of them were showing up for me on Amazon besides bold! (possibly a regional rights thing?)

3 am meetings not fun! Hope you found some time to sleep somewhere along the line!

Just looking at the above, there is no way of identifying who read what. I'm guessing that's needed as everyone needs to read 1 book for each thing?

For reference:

Loathe to Love You - Laila Jane
The Dark Lord's Daughter - Lexi
The Mammoth Hunters - Teddie
The Traveling Cat Chronicles - Teresa
Oathbringer - Sammy
