I would like to read The Brothers Lionheart even though it's not on my 2025 plan. I am trying to read more of what I want this year! I might even be up for a reread of Pippi Longstocking after :) I love that book.
I had to mail order The Brothers Lionheart - I don't own it & there are no copies in my library system.
Definitely will join in, although I am going to be reading in German as I find Astrid Lindgren in German better than in English.
Thank you so much for starting the thread Rosemarie! I'm really happy to see there is interest in joining in the buddy read!
I just started The Brothers Lionheart yesterday.
As mentioned above, I was also planning on reading Pippi Longstocking this year.
I have access to a few others through my library/Everand that I would like to add on during the year as I find time as well:
The Children of Noisy Village
Ronia, the Robber's Daughter
Mischievous Meg
Pippi Goes on Board
If there are other works that anyone recommends, I can look into ordering them.
I got one book in the mail yesterday. Did not have time to open it. But thinking from the size of it, it is the Pippi book!!

I finished The Brothers Lionheart yesterday and gave it 5 stars. My Review (hopefully that links the review correctly)
As life-long Lindgren's fan I can recommend my favourites: Seacrow Island, Mio, min Mio, Emil i Lönneberga and, of course, Karlsson on the Roof. But I am quite sure any of her books can bring joy to the reader. The Brothers Lionheart is also exceptional.
Lumi wrote: "I love Ronja, one of my absolutely favorites!"I'm looking forward to this one as well. It looks like there are a few tv adaptations too.

I've been looking for it, but it's a bit pricey to find. And sadly not available through my library system.
I'm going to get to Pippi Longstocking this month. I have not previously read any of the books in the series, but I did watch the 1988 movie The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, a lot as a kid.
I finished Ronia, the Robber's Daughter yesterday.
5 stars. Just like The Brothers Lionheart, I wish I would have known about this book when I was a kid. It would have been there with all my favorites.
Here's a link to my review of Ronia
I also read Pippi Longstocking earlier this year, but forgot to post it here it seems. Will reply later when I have some more time with a comparison of these 3 books.
Michelle I got a lovely edition of Pippi.
I have yet to read it. What happens when I actually put it in its home instead of in the TBR pile!

I didn't give Pippi Longstocking a formal review on Goodreads because I didn't actually enjoy it very much. It was just ok, and I appreciate it's place as a classic piece of children's lit, but it didn't resonate with me as much as The Brothers Lionheart (5 stars) had. And I don't think it holds up as well in modern times. I feel the same having now also read Ronia, the Robber's Daughter (5 stars), which I also loved. I definitely prefer the more fantastical/Medieval-feeling settings, and the willingness to tackle heavier topics in the other 2 books.
