Hah, whatever, I'm agnostic, I dont know what to believe.

message 107: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay I see. Well, that's too bad. Maybe you should pick up a Book of Mormon! ^^

If anything, I'm just interested in religion, I'm not planning on following anything anytime soon. We all have our own little variations of the truth, I think that's what religion is. Nothing is ever right or wrong. Everything is grey.

Blind faith is not something I can follow. I'd rather believe in something that can show me otherwise.

message 109: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay That's what a lot of people say, but what's the point of faith if you know everything? The only reason we came to Earth in the first place was to get a body, and choose the right and believe in God. To be trialed to see if we are worthy to return to Him. What's the point of being trialed if we know everything? We'll obviously choose the right all the time if we've seen.

message 110: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
We don't know everything. That's why everything can show us otherwise. That's why I choose to believe in people. I don't believe that we're here to follow the right. I believe we're here to make mistakes and find out what's right for US. There's a massive difference.

message 111: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay That's really sad!! :(

I grew up in religion and have always been LDS my whole life, and as I grow up in the church, I know more and more that it's true, and now, it's not so much faith. I know that it's true.

message 112: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Well, that's right for you. It's not going to be right for everyone. It's the truth, for you.

message 113: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay I was replying to Courtney there.

I don't follow you. In Mosiah something or other, it explains why we're here according to my religion. Anyway, everyone here thinks they're right, so I see no point in arguing. Nobody's going to change their opinion any time soon.

message 115: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
I'm just saying why I feel we're here. I think everyone argues about this because they AREN'T sure that they're right. I don't think any of us are right. We each have our own version of the truth.

message 116: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay There is too proof!! First of all, I have the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Inside are records of what people have seen. They're writing exactly what they saw. How come we believe the Egyptians and their little hyroglyphics? Another thing; I've prayed and asked if the Book of Mormon was true before, and there was just this indescribable feeling of assurance and love. I've never felt anything like it before in my life.

message 117: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
There is proof for anything. You can always find the sources. You may be right, you might not. But it's right FOR YOU. And it's the truth FOR YOU. And I respect that. It just isn't for me.

message 118: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay You can say that, I guess. You don't have to believe if you don't want to, it's your choice. We were given free agency, you can use it however you will. But you can't say religion isn't for you. It's for everyone.

message 119: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay *sigh* I just explained that in the earlier post. I prayed about it, silly!!

message 120: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
No, it's for those who wish to believe it. And I am not one of them.

message 121: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay That's not what I said. I said that there's not ONE person or a certain people who religion is for. You never know, you might find that you believe in it yourself.

message 122: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Religion is for EVERYONE. It's up to people to believe it or not.

message 123: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Well, there are so many religions. And um, a lot of religions only favor some groups of people and not others.

message 124: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Because I do. I believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far is it translated correctly. I also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. Joseph Smith restored the truthfulness of the gospel on the Earth about one hundred years ago, and I believe that is true because I've prayed. I've also seen the power of God. One time, I forgot the garage combination and I was going to be stuck outside for an hour in freezing cold weather, so I decided to say a prayer to try and remember. Right after I prayed, a random combination of numbers popped into my head, and I tried them, and they were the combination.

message 125: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
It's the right religion for you. It's the truth for you. It's not going to be the truth for everyone. Religion may be for everyone, but not everyone will follow one, or follow it at all.

message 126: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Yeah, I know. It's pretty sad, for me, anyway. I believe it's the right religion for everyone, but not everyone is willing to follow it. Continue not believing in God, just try to be a good person, okay?

message 127: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
I've always tried doing that. I don't think one religion is good for everyone. Not everyone should be one thing. It never works.

message 128: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Well, we all came to Earth to prove that we could come back to Him. Not all of us will, though.

message 129: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Maybe they don't want to prove it.

I don't know why I think we're here, but I know I don't believe it's for that reason. It's something much more complicated and painful.

I feel the same. about blind faith. I'd like to know what to believe, I've grown up believing in God, but once i've learned some of the faults in the Bible, and the whole science debacle, i just don't really know. I want something that tells me what is real and what is not, even tho i know religion isn't about proof, it's about what you believe. i just don't know what to believe.

There's always one thing I will believe in though. Though it's hard to.

People. People including yourself.

message 132: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Okay, why should we believe in people? All they do is hurt each other and themselves. They do bad things. Why should we believe in people if they're corrupted?

message 133: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Because we know that people are real, and people are strong. People are worth it. They hurt each other and themselves, but they can also heal.

I don't think I can ever believe in something that is supposedly all knowing. Because nothing ever is.

message 134: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Except God. Because he created us.

message 135: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Yeah, in your opinion. I don't think anything is ever all knowing, and I don't believe anything can see everything perfectly clearly without any problems with desire or envy or anything.

People, people hurt others, and they wreck things, but they are real and they are miraculous. They can heal and they can cure and help and protect and make things better.

message 136: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay They can be pervy they can be disgusting they can kill, steal, and be people I hate. I hate people as a whole, did you know that? I hate people as a whole, but I love individual people more than anything in the world.

message 137: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Yeah, some people are absolutely horrible. But they arent just bad. No one is. We are all grey. We are not completely light or dark. I have faith in people.

message 138: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Interesting. I don't think we're all gray! I think some people are BLACK!!! And nobody is perfectly white unless they just got baptized...

message 139: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
I don't think anyone is completely light or dark. We are all good AND bad. In my opinion, that is. It gives me hope, because that means that no one is absolutely bad. And they aren't.

whoa whoa whoa wait. just bcuz ur batized sooo doesn't mean ur perfect and good. plenty of bad people have been baptized. plenty of amazing people havent.
okay.
sigh.
this discussion is going in circles

no the Apes turned INTO us thats y we have somany things in COMMON

people only made up the story of god cuz they wanted a theory to discribe things around them now that we know that earth is round we get that god is a MYTH (wait do u know that earth is round???)

message 142: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Ahem, really, this conversation IS going in circles.

My mother didn't want me to be baptized because she wanted me to experiment with religions and see which one is right for me.

message 143: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay That was a good idea for your mother. Now, to clarify what I said, I believe that when you're baptized, all your sins are washed away, and you're pure until you start to sin again. I don't think that because somone isn't baptized, they're evil. I think people who kill and do bad things for selfish reason are evil. I don't think that people are completely bad, or completely good either. I just think that some people are more righteous than others because of the choices they make.

How does the Earth being round say that God is fake in any way?? You don't know that God didn't manipulate the world and use science to bring about the creation of the Earth. Personally, I think that it took much more than seven days to create the Earth, and that each day is just a symbolism for a long time, but then again that's a matter of opinion.

message 145: by [deleted user] (new)

Earth being round has to do with the fact that it was a way of explaining things when most people didn't have an explanation. God was a nother way of explaining things.
ok lets just say god DID make earth evolve and wat not. God seems mighty mean if u ask me think about it he believes that girls are like slaves and that if someone does something wrong he neads to punish them if he DOES exist he should just mind his own buisness!!!! and think about this if god was able to creat this then wat about the universe the many galixies out there how is it that one guy made it???? o ya and answer me this how do u know that god isn't Gay??? maybe God liked a guy. the stories in the bible were made up anyway they never say that god isn't gay. the bible is just stories over time these stories presented hope to people who read them soon they convinced themselves that it was real and then religeons spread. think for ureself does this seam real or are u just thinking on wat ur parents say and wat ur church says? if u ask me religeon is full of hatred it's the reason y half the wars happen.

message 146: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay You sicken me. You dare even say you think God was gay?!?! It's one thing to say that you don't agree with someone's religion, but to say that God's... okay, wow. You know what? You make absolutely no sense. If religion is so full of hatred, then why is it that the nicest people are always dedicated in their religions? If religion is so full of hatred, then why is one of the commandments to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"? Another thing; do you think people were on shrooms or something way back when, when the Bible was being created? Do you think that they imagined seeing God? Do you think they all just happened to have God tell them the same things when they hadn't even seen what the other prophets wrote? You talk mighty big for someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Have you tried out religion? What makes you hate it so much? Even if it is fake (which I can tell you with a surety it's not)it's not like religion is bad. All it does is give people reasons to do good things. And I have enough proof to make me believe 100% that God is real. I've seen people's lives change, I've had my prayers answered, I've heard my stories about amazing things that have happened because of prayer, and you know what? More than anything else in the world, I know that what my church believes is true. I haven't convinced myself to believe; in fact, when I was little, I often wondered if my church was true. I wondered if every other church member of different churches were as sure about their church as I am about mine, and I don't think they are. I have the restored gospel, and I feel very blessed for it. I'm very lucky to have been born to the family I have been, I can tell you what.

message 147: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay And about the gay God theory... that makes absolutely no sense seeing as how Heavenly Father is married to Heavenly Mother, so, yeah. And Jesus Christ never had a relationship on the Earth, man or woman. Ok? Ok.

message 148: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Um, I do agree that religion is full of hatred, but it is also full of love. It depends on which scriptures you follow and who you are. I think religion is good in the sense that a lot of people have found hope in it and gotten better lives because of that hope. I just don't like religion in the sense that everyone thinks they're right, and they fight about it.

And um, Lindsay, Jesus DID kinda have a relationship with Mary Mangdelen, (sp?) well, he might've might not have.

message 149: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay He just cared a lot about her because he loved everyone. He didn't have a relationship with her.

me too. my mom as raised catholic, but had some problems with the religion, so didn't want me to be baptized, so i could find God for myself. My cousins on my other side tho, pretty much thinks we're going 2 h*** cuz we're not super religious like them.
