Now that I’m on the desktop site instead of the app, I see you’re planning on reading Ariadne! I had that on my TBR for July as well but don’t think I will get to it this month. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!

25% Update (Hour 6)
Almost done with Ariadne Chap 28 I'm now very much thinking this book should have been titled Phaedra. Her story seems a lot crazier. Lol. And I think this is a place in the story where people who DON'T know the myths are going to have a much more interesting experience than those of us who do. Because I know how this ends, but if I didn't, I would be very interested in finding out. I'm still really enjoying this take on the story though.
And in Chap 29, even though I do know a lot of the myths I don't think I know what happens between Ariadne and Dionysus. I know what the Maenads do in their worship of him, but I don't know how Ariadne will react, or how she finds out, or even what this book is going to say their rites are.

Started She's Not Sorry a story behind the mysterious accident of a girl named Caitlin, did she jump or was she pushed? It's just getting better so will be continuing this one.

Also Started Not in Love but too early to comment. It's all science-y and stuff

I read Ariadne a year or so ago. I was reminded in some ways of Circe's experience as described by Madeline Miller. There are some similarities that made me think. . . . Enjoy!

Haven't read it yet. Been postponing reading books with mythologies. Lmao. But it's on my list

50% Update (Hour 12)
Finished a book! Ariadne by Jennifer Saint
--Even though Phaedra was definitely the more complex character and had the more interesting voice, I think that by the end Ariadne showed the most growth. Phaedra kind of slumped backward a bit, even commented on by Ariadne when she said that she could see the same 13 year old who was head over heels for Theseus when she spoke in the presence of Hippolytus. And Phaedra's 180 in the moment of Hippolytus's rejection was very juvenile-feeling. Whereas Ariadne goes from letting everything happen to her to finding the strength to pull away from Dionysus, despite still loving him (or at least, who he once way). As I said before, I really liked the voice of the narrative overall, even though the first half of the book was pretty weak in terms of character and tension. So I think overall, especially given the last half of the book I'm going 3.5 stars.

Good to hear about Ariadne, Christene! I do know most mythological stories but have no memory, so sounds like I will enjoy this too.
