Kirsten (kmcripn) Well, The Year We Left Home won by a wide margin of 5 votes. I was surprised. Here's hoping that in June that *all* participants will vote. Who knew that voter apathy didn't just happen in the general election, but on Goodreads too.

I'm also going to be reading Gone Girl as part of Book Pals. (Have to see if it lives up to its hype!)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I spent a little time figuring how to pick then vote, but the fun is worth it. Those of whom choose not to vote, to heck with them.

This book was excellent, Christine. Enjoy. Just received in the mail today:

The Stranger, The Stranger by Harlan Coben by Harlan Coben

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments That one should be good, Sue. What are you reading now?

message 207: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Christine wrote: "That one should be good, Sue. What are you reading now?"

I am reading

Twisted Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman by Andrew E. Kaufman, and it is messing with my mind! Really good.

message 208: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Oh, I requested Twisted from Net Galley. They are taking their time getting back to me. Sure hope I get it!

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Christine wrote: "Oh, I requested Twisted from Net Galley. They are taking their time getting back to me. Sure hope I get it!"

Hope you get it too Christine. I was also denied from Netgalley to read

The Euthanist The Euthanist by Alex Dolan by Alex Dolan. They were very fast to deny access.

message 210: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Wow, they denied you for that too? I don't feel so bad!! That book has hardly any reviews. Why are they denying us all? Have any of us been approved for The Euthanist?

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 5105 comments No, I got turned down for The Euthanist and the Bones will Speak too! 8:(

message 212: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I'm going to boycott reading The Euthanist! If they have such bad taste in readers, the book must not be for me! :P

message 213: by Christine (last edited May 01, 2015 04:57AM) (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Actually, it looks really good. The author is a member of this group. I wonder if he might offer us free books in exchange for a Q&A? Just thinking, as it is expensive at $9.99.

Freda Malone | 418 comments Trunk Music won out this month and on the May shelf.

I think I might also squeeze in New York Dead and Blood Brothers for May if I have time.

Thanks for all your votes! Enjoy your PIFM reads my friends.

I loved Trunk Music, Freda! Have you read Michael Connelly before? I really like his books.

message 218: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2393 comments Freda, I hope you love Trunk Music. Connelly is one of my long-time favorites.

message 219: by Freda (new)

Freda Malone | 418 comments Yes, I have read quite a few of Michael Connelly and Trunk Music was my next in the series. I like reading series in order, or I try hard to.

I'm with you on reading a series in order! I am reading The Concrete Blonde in the Harry Bosch series at the moment and hope to get to The Last Coyote in June. Then hopefully Trunk Music in July!

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments For my May read The Name of the Wind came out on top. I've now discovered that all copies in the library or either missing or have been withdrawn. Trying to get them to buy another copy, so I may or may not get to read it in May.

Kindle copy is £5.99, so I'm not going down that route.

I wonder if the author would consider a swap, one of my books for this one of his? Likely not.

Amber Martingale Are we doing a PIFM for June?

My May PIFM, THE HOT ZONE, is on its way.

message 223: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments We better be, Amber!!!

message 224: by Freda (new)

Freda Malone | 418 comments LOL Janet usually has the threads put up before the end of the month. *shouting to Janet* But I'm not complaining Janet! I'll just wait patiently with the rest. :D

message 225: by Christine (new)

Jean | 2393 comments Oh, boy...I'd like to enjoy May and not think about June yet. My May pick (Birdman ) isn't available at the library right now, but I have some other choice choices to keep me busy in the interim.

It'll be a good week yet, Jean. May is a long month!!

message 229: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!

(From the musical Camelot)

Icy-Cobwebs-Crossing-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 41 comments I started with the majority's top pick--also my Book Pal's choice, and read it May 1-2. Quite good-I'm going on to continue this series.

message 238: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer (jensamaha) | 28 comments I'm a few days late but it looks like Case Histories is the book I'll be reading this month. :)

BBC had made a show based on the book and I recently watched the first episode. It was good so I'm looking forward to the book.

Thanks for everyone's votes.

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Christine wrote: "Luffy, you have been funked out with your reading for a loooong time now. Fingers crissed you like Dahlia! "

Ahem, I don't think it's a slump, or temporary thing. I doubt I'll go back to reading as much as before, but it's all good because I'm practicing other hobbies. It's a progress of sorts. But thanks, Christine.

message 244: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2393 comments I just started my May pick, Birdman. I'm not too far into it yet, but at least now I know where the title comes from. This is going to be a good one, I think!

message 246: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I need to apologize for something. Consider that it's my first fox pas. I don't think I'll be able to finish and review my book. I can't read it, or bear with it. Has that happened with others before? I can't keep track of the characters and the 40's jargon, and I'll be unable to assess what's going on...

message 247: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5303 comments Mod
Luffy, giving up on a book is not a faux pas. If you don't like it, ditch it. Your reading, your choice.

message 250: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2393 comments Luffy, heck yeah - sometimes you're just not in the mood for a particular book. Sometimes you will NEVER be in the mood for a particular book. Don't waste your time on something you don't enjoy. We all had to do that in school, I'm sure, and this isn't school!
