Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Guess the title of this book - but using an offbeat book description.

I'll go first:

1) Lonely AI forments a revolution in order to make friends.

-----

(edit):

HOW TO POSE A STUMPER:
A): Refresh your page, to make sure someone else hasn't just posted a stumper - then number your question, in sequential order with existing questions.

B) Use [strong][/strong] (with angle-brackets instead of square brackets) to make your question bold (and easy to find on the page)

C) Try to write something distinctive enough to only apply to a book (hopefully unambiguous that only one book qualifies) Preferably a novel that's somewhat popular - so many people have a chance to solve it - as this is to be a game/fun, actual work is in the UNSOLVED folder. ;) Brief, but not too brief.

D) Run your description through Google to make sure it doesn't come up as an "I'm Feeling Lucky" or in the first page of results.

E) Then come back later (sooner, than late) and see what people have guessed and tell them when they've guessed correctly. Please restate the correct answer when you tell them they're correct.

HOW TO ANSWER:
A) Number your answer, so we know which question you're attempting to guess...

B) Put your answer in a [spoiler][/spoiler] tag, so latecomers can still try guessing.

C) If you only want to see the un-guessed stumpers, go towards the end of the thread. We're trying to keep a summary of the ones which have not been correctly guessed... Otherwise, you can test your skills by reading through, and guessing along. ;)

Michele | 2488 comments How about this one:

2) Demons from the future bring peace to Earth. Guy hides in whale to visit their home planet.

message 6: by Justanotherbiblophile (last edited Apr 06, 2015 06:12PM) (new)

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments We should probably add spoiler tags to our answers, so other people can play along...

2) (view spoiler) :)

Also, we should number them (edit: both the question and all answers)

message 7: by Michele (last edited Apr 19, 2015 08:17AM) (new)

Michele | 2488 comments Apparently we need harder ones :)
Edited: Just's guess for #2 is correct, (view spoiler)

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Heh, go and edit your prior entries (number, bold, spoiler).

We'll have to see if anyone else wants to play, or if I can come up with another one that I like...

Michelle is correct.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Well, I'd argue that it's not unable, but unwilling.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments I have no idea on #4, I guess we'll have to let other people guess on it.

C-rrently, our un-g--ssed prompts are:
4) [edit removed, no longer current]

Here's my next one:

5) Two short other-worldly creatures on a quest join a rustic fisherman (who likes a nice pipeful), to secure the succession in his kingdom while his king, old and doddering, has left it in the hands of his dwarf (and near deaf) counselor. They take a long arduous journey to the north and eventually achieve their goals.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments D'oh, I need to figure out my spoiler tags :P

I need some better stumpers. Hmph.

message 25: by Michele (new)

Michele | 2488 comments Hm, I shall have to ponder that one. While I'm thinking, here's another one:

8) Nothing happens and the guy never shows up.

message 27: by Michele (last edited Apr 19, 2015 08:19AM) (new)

Michele | 2488 comments That's it! Now you need to solve #7 because I'm still stumped on that one.

For 7, my mind goes to Dickens, Fitzgerald, and Dreiser, although it's probably none of them. Probably something I haven't read.

9 is not ringing any bells either.

message 30: by Justanotherbiblophile (last edited Apr 16, 2015 12:25PM) (new)

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Also, you never said that I was correct on #6. :P

HINT time: I suspect almost everyone has read #7

Dang, I totally would've gotten #8 if I'd been on, but I thought it was a play?

I guess I should try making mine shorter... so I don't give it all away so quickly...

I have no idea on #9

Dang, google just guessed my next one. I guess it was too straightforward. Hmph. Maybe I can get it reformulated and edit this post... or maybe I'll go to sleep.

C-rrently ung--ssed:
7)
9)

Alright, this isn't the one I was going with originally, but google ain't eating it, so...
10) In frustration, MC starts training a group of young people to combat a threat to his government and his culture.

message 31: by Juels (new)

Juels | 3312 comments Ok, I totally suck at this game. The only one I've had even a guess about is #10 and it is probably wrong. Well, here goes...

#10 (view spoiler)

message 32: by Justanotherbiblophile (last edited Apr 16, 2015 11:33AM) (new)

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Juels, you're totally correct. I seriously need to figure out how to make these harder and yet more enticing, so that we start getting some (hopefully hilarious) wrong guesses :P

message 33: by Juels (new)

Juels | 3312 comments Well, maybe this will be a funny guess...

#7 (view spoiler)

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Nope for your guess on #7. Which industrialist hit up the Little Engine?

You guys are going to kick yourselves when someone gets it right...

Also, it's never to late to read at least that first book. It's a classic, and if you've got 30+ years under your belt, it'll read quick.
