Book: Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery Read: 9/13/23 Rating: ★★★★ 2023 Pick-It-For-Me Relay Msg #74 Picked by: Zeljka Review: Very sweet story of another outspoken orphan girl taken in by unmarried siblings. I can't decide if I like Emily of New Moon better than Anne of Green Gables. But that's high praise coming from me.
Book: The Spirit Thief by Rachel Aaron Read: 3/16/24 Rating: ★★★.75 2023 Pick-It-For-Me Relay Msg #87 Picked by: Pixiegirl105 Review: Thank you, Pixiegirl105, for the recommendation to read The Spirit Thief. It was mostly enjoyable though a bit slow in the middle, but now that the scene is set, I've got high hopes for the rest of the series. I love the characters and that is what I enjoy most in a series.
Book: A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan Read: 8/1/24 Rating: ★★★.5 2024 Pick-It-For-Me Relay Msg #24 Picked by: Chaela Review: First half was slow and I would've DNFed except I don't DNF. The 2nd half was much more interesting and I enjoyed the end. This would've worked for a retelling. Rose's extreme non-confrontational behavior irked me. Rose's parents shocked and disturbed me. I didn't know what this was about and wasn't really in the mood, but the end was interesting. This book would actually be a good discussion book for a YA book club.
Book: Exit Strategy by Martha Wells Read: 9/27/24 Rating: ★★★★.5 Msg # 42 Picked by: Tony Review: Another great Murderbot story, but they are just too short. It was great to see the gang together again: Murderbot, Dr Mensah, Ratthi, Pin-Lee, and even Gurathin.
MarlaRenata: This relay seems to have died somewhat. There have been fewer participants and long stretches without a response. So, for now, the mods have decided to close this challenge. It was a fun ride!
Pony: I really wish you all wouldn't close it. Even if it doesn't get a lot of traction, I really enjoy having this challenge as an option for picking books. I was genuinely looking forward to having it here this new year. I think it's such a good idea.
Rowley: oh gutted i was also looking forward to this this year, though im still struggling through the last book picked for me
Tony: I also enjoy the Pick-It-For-Me-Relay. I enjoy the choices that are made for me. It's often a book I tend to overlook in my To-Read list and end up enjoying. I don't have any problems having to wait a little bit either. BTW, I am looking forward to reading Taya's pick for me, White Fang by Jack London . :)
Book: The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima Read: 2/27/25 Rating: ★★★★ Msg #48 Picked by: Rowley Review: Fascinating conclusion to the Seven Realms series. The uncertainties dragged in places but was filled with many dangerous situations and possible adversaries.
