Jess | 2 comments Im looking for a single book that i thought i still owned but it has disappeared... I actually remember the name of the book - Last Dance or The Last Dance - but cant find the author or the book.

• Set in the US
• i read it like 20 years ago and it already seemed a little dated at that time... so published in the late 80s - late 90s.
• the cover was pink, had a picture of a girl in a pink silk dress holding flowers i think? But just the torso. Head and legs were cropped
• told from several perspectives/different characters
• they are going to the last dance of their senior year in highschool i think, and its at some sort of country club/golf resort
• entire book takes place in one evening

(view spoiler)

Thank you!!

Capn | 3506 comments I think it could be Last Dance - there are some missing covers, but two of the reviews mention a fire.

It's book 2 of a series of 4: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1102...

"Kip should have told Mike to take a long walk off a short pier after the way he treated her before she organized the fire brigade. Beth Rose should have told Gary to stuff it. Anne and Con definitely needed to talk, they didn't need their first moment back together to be at a school dance. They should have gotten together beforehand. Gah, Molly deserved the dunking in the pool, but as someone else said, should have been arrested for starting that fire. And poor Emily.
Seriously though, I hope girls don't think they need to be nice to people like Emily did with Christopher (at first) or Beth Rose did with Gary and the boys. They had no business going in that night hike. Fools."

It's on OpenLibrary (https://openlibrary.org/works/OL12428...
For Kip, Anne, Beth Rose, Emily, and Molly, it’s the perfect end to their junior year. The night they’ve been waiting for—a night to wish upon a star.
Kip just got the ultimate kiss-off: Her boyfriend, Mike, suddenly wants to be “just friends.”
At the start of junior year, Anne and Conrad were Westerly High’s most popular couple. Now everything’s different, and Anne wonders if the whole school knows her secret.
Beth Rose was a perennial wallflower before she met Gary. She’s crazy about him, but he’s never once said the L-word.
Emily’s life just fell apart, and all she wants is for Matt to make the pain go away.
Molly’s furious that Con is taking Anne to the dance when she knows he really loves her. She’s about to plot the perfect revenge . . .
For five very different girls, it’s a dance they’ll always remember. Will it be a night of love—or loneliness? An ending—or a new beginning?
The Kindle editions all seem to have the obnoxious torsos-only cover images: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...
