Hercule Poirot's Silent Night
by Sophie HannahThe latest in Hannah's recreation of the Poirot mysteries. Nice to visit again with Hercule but without Hastings, Inspector Japp or Miss Lemon. I mostly enjoyed it even though the solution came rather out of left field. Was the author cheating? I rather think yes. 3 stars.
Thirteen Hours
is a strong police procedural set in Cape Town. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Last Guest House by Caroline Mitchell is a pretty creepy psychological suspense set in an isolated guest house on the tenth anniversary of a cold case mass killing.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

What a wild pair these disreputable, scruffy Irishmen are, waiting in Algeciras, Spain, for the Night Boat to Tangier, looking for one's daughter, Dilly, who took off for the continent three years ago. Terrific Irish lilt to the sound of them as they search.

Think Fast, Mr. Peters
by Stuart KaminskyToby Peters #13. It's 1942 in Hollywood and Toby is hired by his friend and office-mate dentist Shelly Minck to find Shelly's wife who has run away with Peter Lorre. Really? Well, it turns out there are lots of guys who sort-of look like Peter Lorre. And pretty soon one of them is shot dead but Toby's on the case. Another light and very enjoyable entry in the series. I liked it a lot, 4 stars.
Smaller is Better: Using Small Autonomous Teams to Drive the Future of Enterprise

I'm glad you said that, Nancy! I didn't realise there was a new one, but I've just found it on NetGalley and had to "wish for it". Maybe I'll get lucky. It says it's coming out on July 9th. Fingers crossed. 😊
The Heart in Winter
Hannah Rose Thomas, a humanitarian activist and artist, has created a beautiful, moving tribute to the women who are always the victims in wars. The stories in Tears of Gold: Portraits of Yazidi, Rohingya, and Nigerian Women should go around the world.
My review of Tears of Gold with several of their haunting photographs
Not only did I enjoy (as expected) The Last Devil to Die, British author Richard Osman's fourth outing with his Thursday Murder Club, but I was impressed with how sensitively he handled some very moving scenes. Wonderful!
My review of The Last Devil to Die
I was less than impressed with The Missing Witness
. Maybe because it didn’t work well as a standalone. My three star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished the pulp crime classic
