Finally did my taxes... 90 minutes of work I put off for 2-3 months, every other year... I did them on April 5th last year... and I think I wasn't done until almost May the year before, because state government had put a bunch of extra layers of protection in because of increased fraud...

The AI running the dungeon has a bit of a foot fetish... Carl starts getting achievements and lootbox rewards that incentivize him staying barefoot and in boxers throughout the dungeon... and it does this stereotypical aroused voice when reading the popups regarding anything foot related... you'll see...

Hahahaha, that reminds me a bit of Omniscient Reader Viewpoint (a manwha) with the constellations pushing the main character to interact with another character (male) in a "flirty" way.

At some point, the other character is paralyzed by a poison, and the MC has to give him the antidote. He then receives a LOT of donations for each spoon he feeds him x)

So far, so good. The setting is very reminiscent of Omniscient Reader Viewpoint and more generally of the manwhas with constellations/star-streaming.

I'm waiting for Donut to somehow level up/get upgraded, become sentient and then roast our main character like the entitled, spoiled princess cat that she is. Carl better protect her with his life!

Ok, the author knows what the people want and has no problem giving it to them!

Princess Donut, may she stays eternally fluffy, is even better than I imagined. I love how snarky, haughty yet impulsive she is.

Carl still has no pants and no shoes, and I'm pretty sure he'll stay that way. If aliens are even remotely like humans, that will get him donations and subscriptions hahaha.

The IA with the foot fetish is hilarious. Didn't even pretend to be chill and gave a toe ring right away.

I'm very worried all the old people are going to die in a gruesome way... I hope they can survive to the point where they can change race & find some way to be more resistant.

The way to the second level is cleared, and Carl & Donut are getting interviewed. I hope Princess Donut gets all the followers she deserves :) Carl will probably have some weirdos that will NOT give him pants and shoes ^_^

The group barely survived the rage elemental attack after Jack pissed on a wall and triggered the punishment thingy. I really respect Carl and the people sticking with the elderly 'cause I definitely wouldn't. I'm not that nice or good a person.... I'd stick with and protect my family and my best friend (plus my cat if I had one), and that's it. (I may have trust issues....)

I finished An End to All Tails today. It ties together all three series nicely, answering all the question about what's going on in the world and why. While the ending itself was a bit rushed, I liked where all the characters ended up and found it overall a satisfying read.

Heh! It's funny 'cause I got a good friend of mine into anime recently. We were watching the last couple episodes of Frieren and chatting on whatsapp to exchange impressions, and his main reaction was "Huuuum... Good episodes, but why the feet? It was a bit weird". I rewatched to figure out what the hell he was talking about and yes, there it was, shots angled to include the overly-well animated feet of an elf. I somehow didn't notice/selectively ignored it xD

That was so much fun! The whole book was predictable, but in a good way. Like I mentioned before, the author knows its audience and the beats the story has to hit to satisfy it. An example would be:
- the end of chapter 11: "I tossed the dynamite into the room, throwing it as hard as I could. I turned and I ran. I prayed it wouldn't blow when it hit the ground"
- me: it's going to blow when it hits the ground
- first sentence of chapter 12: "It blew when it hit the ground."
- me, giggling like an unhinged gremlin: BOOM HAHAHAHAHA!

I was so happy when Donut chose the obviously-a-baby-dinosaur-chicken :) Somehow, I immediately thought of those giant murder chicken from Australia:

I feel you... I have been on and off sick/unwell for a while now. These past couple weeks, I went on the roller-coaster off horrible migraine -> can't sleep 'cause pain -> trigger insomnia where I get 2h of sleep a night AT BEST -> crash down in a weird position a week later 'cause sleep deprived -> sleep like the dead for 16 hours straight -> horrible neck and back pain 'cause 16h in weird position -> miss the last couple steps of the stairs 'cause I can't move my head -> now has horrible neck and back pain AND a twisted ankle -> doesn't clean apartment properly 'cause pain -> too much dust, triggers allergies -> allergies trigger migraine.

Honestly, I think there is a System in our world like in LitRPG, and it decided to switch my life to hard mode as soon as I hit 30 lol.

I agree, the author hits those story beats perfectly. Plus the near perfect comedy timing and the narrator's voice for the characters... if there is one series I would absolutely recommend audio for over other formats it is this one.

Yup, I agree, Carl being a Primal is going to be important, especially since no-one has ever seen the dungeon past the 13th level. I love the tidbits of worldbuilding we get. Ancient alien civilization whose appearance is unknown that somewhat disappeared? Yes, please.

I think Mongo will get at Jurassic Park size. I can't remember, can pets like Mongo get weird skills and spells? It would be so funny if he gets one that let him resize, from T-Rex size to tiny murder ball.

I don't remember but I apparently attacked a clown as a child lol. I was at a circus with my family, and we went to the clown spectacle. The clown needed a volunteer to come to the stage for their next bit, and my father volunteered me. He forced me to go to the stage, and when the clown went to take my hand, I kicked him in the leg while crying and yelling "don't eat me!", then ran away 😂

I love the weird automaton cloning spell Donus got, and how Mongo is so happy to play with his doubles. I really like Mongo in general, how he's always screeching, running in circles and jumping up and down. So cute, in a ugly murder chicken way 💖

We can already see the dynamics developing between Donut, Carl and Mordecai, with Donut being her impulsive naive yet bloodthirsty self, Mordecai looking to Carl to temper her only to be "betrayed" by Carl being even crazier 'cause he's a good boy that wants to save everyone.

I keep thinking of the teen with the doggos choosing a weird race. When I listened to it, I immediately thought "good on you, kid". The book doesn't seem to go there (at least not for the crawlers....), but... Yeah. Being a woman in the apocalypse isn't good. Being a teenage girl is worse.

I don't know what I would choose if asked right now. I probably wouldn't remain human if another race gave me better benefits and a not-too-different form (don't want to have to learn how to move weird limbs in a dungeon).

But teenage/early-twenties me? The young woman that got harassed in public transport on a daily basis, catcalled, once stalked, roofied (yay for female bartender saving my ass), got told in a professional meeting to "shut up and look pretty 'cause that's why women are hired in this field" (construction) and lost count of how many times guys have told her being mixed race (European/Asian) is perfect 'cause "Asian woman are submissive yet freaks in the sheets"..... Yeah. Teenage/early-twenties me would have considered transforming into a monster a pro and given up her humanity in a heartbeat.

Plus, you can potentially be a dragon. A DRAGON. Fuck opposable thumbs honestly, give me wings, claws and the ability to breathe fire and I'm golden.

I vaguely remember reading a PNR that you wanted to try out (I think Diana was there too). Something about...weredinosaurs ? That book singlehandedly killed any desire for exploration in the PNR genre lol.

Yeah, the audio is really stellar so far for DCC. I had to pause at some point 'cause the first "BOSS BATTLE!" sent me into an inexplicable laughing fit haha.
