Check out that bookcover! It's subtle and fun. Misty 💀
Nora: I can't put UFOs on my resume.

Or not. I got excited for nada. 😆🙈
Alex Kane is great! May he write lots of stories.
This is the first one where he didn't... I'm kinda glad... shows Corrie & Nora can stand on their own...
That was kind of the point of this one... (view spoiler)

Time line wise, Pendergast has a light connection to both of them. Neither Nora or Corrie were ever 100% reliant on Pendergast. He is more of a fulcrum that aimed them towards more independence in their career fields.

Agreed... but the first 2 books did this thing where he came in and showed off for like 5 pages at the end, using his deductive skills "all the way to the very end"...
I had a feeling it might not be your favorite... I had my problems with it through the middle, but rode the high of the end...
And the denouement definitely left me with questions, since I'm sure this'll never really be revisited, and they'll just move on to the next episodic book...

They suck at fighting scenes, realistic use of modern combat techniques or equipment, current politics and stuff. Pretty bad at crafting mysterious mysteries. 🙃 They have series & standalones written together and solo for crime, thriller, etc and those books suuuuuuuck. Read a bunch with Audible Plus and library loans. 😆
One scene I really liked was near the beginning, the defused robbery was a nice humane touch and hammered politics.

1-6 was done by Luke Daniels.
Just did a little experiment with audio speeds with 7.
So, if you don't pay too much attention, Eric and Luke have very similar "narrator" voice. Dove doesn’t have Daniels vocalization skills for different character voices.
For a change in narrators, this has to be one of the cleanest and least noticeable. Luke D is still best, but it was fun to check out.

Ch2 End: 😆 Bonding
Ch5: OMG, the origin(?) Of Crocodile Ray 🤣🤣🤣
Ch6: Free Dottie!
I tend to slow down most books that are new series or standalone, for the the first couple chapters or the whole first book, to learn the setting/characters/etc...

Only reason why I listened to Dragon Heist from start is because I fell asleep while listening. So that worked out for me. 🤗

Birdie: Having just the kind of non-relationship I want with someone I have no inclination to be nice to. Fun and mutual distrust.
🤣🤣🤣
How do we feel about Dottie singing? 🤣🤣🤣

WOO! What a fun story! Totally want more books about the crew.

Jumping in on Dragon Heist and loving it. Definitely reminds me of the cooky humor from the Andrea Vernon series. Something is pinging my memory... something Southern or down-on-luck & humory, but I can't pinpoint it. Probably not White Trash Warlock--that didn't have much humor. Might be Stephanie Plum--but that's not Southern. Through Chapter 6 now--(view spoiler)
Through Chapter 13--reminding me a lot of Dungeons & Dragons (the movie)--humor-wise and getting-the-band-together, but funnier, and set in the modern South... (view spoiler)

🤣🤣🤣
Yah! HOURS!

Can't go flying around "hanging"!

Finished Dragon Heist and loved it--unexpected heart squeeze with the reveal (very guessable, but still heart-squeeze). Would love to read more stories with this crew, in this world...

Definitely think Kane left it open for more books to happen in Dragon Heist world. 🥰
IIRC, it was like a Nat 20 Charisma check to convert the enemy bird to be an ally... and all it wanted in exchange was some clothing...

Someone ripped off the LN and made a book 1 Kindle. What a crappy thing to do.

Unfortunately, there's 1 rip off copy of the LN listing on GR + 1 plagiarized Kindle with some of the chapters.
Both have some random English name as author. 🙄
I'm in ch31 and I like the FL. She's a hardworking orphan that died young at 20 in modern times. Transmigrated into the fat, spoiled bully Qiao Mei in the past. Mei means pretty. Irony. 😆 Mei is 18 and has been spoiled rotten by her Grandfather. Drama happens, etc.
Best part has to do with modern Mei's personality is great. She doesn’t mind working hard, enjoys gardening/farming, cooking and bunch of other crafty activities.
Then there's the magical jade that absorbs energy, purifies it and returns it to world in general or can be directed to a plant, etc.
Mei would be a fun character for me to use in Settlement Portal Challenge. 😉😊
Good reading day...
Riding the high of Unkindest Tide & the last chunk of The Tyranny of Faith... Empire of the Wolf has been so good... signed up for the BR in December, based on the blurb, with very little expectations... totally new author/etc...
Now I have a bit of a book hangover... might just wait to start my next book until after I sleep tonight...

Not on KU or Audible Plus.
Took audiobook break yesterday and listened to music. 🎶🎵🎶
Empire of the Wolf is a fantasy trilogy with a strong mystery / legal thriller element…
First book has a full-on trial with a jury in it…
Things escalate in the 2nd book… fair bit of magic, supernatural, and conspiracies…

And 3rd/final book will be out in April!

I just used my Audiobooks.com credits, since there wasn't a way to make it cheap enough on Audible... might have been a mistake... I was originally tricked by the early Black Friday sale, that they weren't going to do a real Black Friday sitewide sale... it might have been cheap enough then to be worth...
I'll probably just use an Audible credit for #3, as a new release...

I bought too many during the sales. Need to read a good chunk of the books I already own. 😆🥸🤗
I hear ya... it's part of the reason I do so many re-reads... if I was buying 500 new books every year, I'd probably go broke...

Amen to that. I have 81 titles TBR on Chirp and Audible
and I keep buying!!

Lots of decent mini-arcs and plot progression. Mei would be a good option for my Settlement character. I'm in ch530, estimated 1600 pages. 🤗
