I read Bad Boy Brawly Brown by Walter Mosley It is book 7 in the Easy Rawlins series. Easy is an unofficial PI in the LA black community. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Set in 1963 LA.
Alice wrote: "I finished The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter by Hazel Gayner Good dual time period book set in 1838 and 1938. Depicts importance of the Lighthouse keeper"I loved this book!

The Solitary Sparrow by Lorraine Norwood
It takes some time to get into this indie novel, and it has some flaws as well, but overall, it does offer an interesting plot.

Just finished The Four Seasons: A Novel of Vivaldi's Venice by Laura Corona. Her 2008 debut novel set in Venice in the early 18th century. It follows the lives of 2 sisters who were abandoned to be raised in the Ospedale della Pieta which was famous for its musicians. Maddelena excels at the violin and is tutored at one point by Vivaldi; her sister Chiaretta develops a beautiful voice. Wonderful peek at Venice.
I read The Women of the Copper Country by Mary Doria Russell It is story of a 1913 copper miners strike in Michigan, I rated 4.5 stars rounded down. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Vā: Stories by Women of the Moana by various Polynesian woman writers.

Finished Goodnight from London by Jennifer Robson. Rated 3 stars. Read on Libby Kindle while listening on Libby Audio. Excellent audio narration by Saskia Maarleveld. She's one of my favorite voice narratorsEven though the storyline of a female American journalist reporting on WWII events from London felt somewhat predictable, I still enjoyed this read.
I read The Bishop’s Villa by Sacha Naspini It is historical fiction, set in a small village in WWII Italy. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
In my opinion something to avoid:The Royal Enigma: Modern Heart, Medieval Love
by Eliane Kensingtonmy 1 star very very short review:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Beyond Ivy Walls by Rachel Fordham
A charming old-world clean romance. I don't often pick up romance books, but make an exception for a few authors. Rachel Fordham is one of them.

A Gentleman of Dubious Reputation
by Grace BurrowesHere is my 4 full stars review :

The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer
While this is getting mixed reviews, it actually worked pretty well for me. Don't expect a faithful Narnia retelling. Great for portal fantasy lovers.

Finished Arabella by Georgette Heyer. Rated 3 stars. Delightful Regency romance published in 1949 in the style of Jane Austen.
I generally prefer reading to listening, but audio done well can add a lot to a story. WWII - Churchill (not really him, of course)Darkness Visible by Arvind Ethan David is like a full-blown radio play, part of Audible's Earworm series of short stories. Very entertaining.
My review of Darkness Visible
I am not alone in saying that C.S. Harris never disappoints and never misses a beat in the action, history, and human stories of England in the early 1800s. Who Slays the Wicked is terrific.
My review of Who Slays The Wicked
I'm a little late to the "book a day" party, but I think I figured it out!! Why it took so long to realize that I could listen to books while crocheting and sewing, I'll never know. Just finished Murder at Morrington Hall - a cute little historical cozy - and it only took one day. Listened while crafting, read a print copy while eating and taking breaks. It helps when the narrator is good - tried it on the next library book, but the narration isn't quite to my liking, so I'll stick to print on that one.

My 3 stars review : https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Murder in Punch Lane by Jane Sullivan
With such a stunning cover and title, I expected far more from this Aussie murder mystery based on true facts. it wasn't bad, but it certainly could have done better.

I enjoyed Percival Everett's reimagining of the slave Jim as James, fleeing to freedom on the mighty Mississippi with Huckleberry Finn. I think Mark Twain might have enjoyed it, too.
My review of James
Just added

Somewhat more modern history, although it began many generations ago.I had no idea that The Cold Cold Ground was set in the time and place where Adrian McKinty grew up - Belfast during The Troubles. It's the first of his Detective Sean Duffy series. I read book 6 and wanted to see where Duffy started. Glad I did.
My Review of The Cold Cold Ground
