The Solitary Sparrow (The Margaret Chronicles, #1) by Lorraine Norwood
It takes some time to get into this indie novel, and it has some flaws as well, but overall, it does offer an interesting plot.

Chris | 552 comments Just finished The Four Seasons: A Novel of Vivaldi's Venice by Laura Corona. Her 2008 debut novel set in Venice in the early 18th century. It follows the lives of 2 sisters who were abandoned to be raised in the Ospedale della Pieta which was famous for its musicians. Maddelena excels at the violin and is tutored at one point by Vivaldi; her sister Chiaretta develops a beautiful voice. Wonderful peek at Venice.

Even though the storyline of a female American journalist reporting on WWII events from London felt somewhat predictable, I still enjoyed this read.

Cheryl A | 1054 comments I'm a little late to the "book a day" party, but I think I figured it out!! Why it took so long to realize that I could listen to books while crocheting and sewing, I'll never know. Just finished Murder at Morrington Hall - a cute little historical cozy - and it only took one day. Listened while crafting, read a print copy while eating and taking breaks. It helps when the narrator is good - tried it on the next library book, but the narration isn't quite to my liking, so I'll stick to print on that one.

I had no idea that The Cold Cold Ground was set in the time and place where Adrian McKinty grew up - Belfast during The Troubles. It's the first of his Detective Sean Duffy series. I read book 6 and wanted to see where Duffy started. Glad I did.
