Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9985 comments Plenty of twists and red herrings in J.P. Pomare's latest, 17 Years Later, and the narrators really bring the audio to life. 5★s

Unbecoming Emma by Kelly Byrne
A decent indie magical realism novel. Not my kind of writing style, though I love the genre.

The Trial of Mrs. Rhinelander by Denny S. Bryce
A book based on the actual Rhinelander vs. Rhinelander case in 1925 in the USA. Would have worked better for me if it actually focussed more on the legal proceedings than staying put on the outside of the courtroom.

PattyMacDotComma | 3310 comments Zadie Smith's 'New Yorker' story The Embassy of Cambodia, is about neither an embassy nor Cambodia, but about Fatou, a young Ivory Coast woman living near the embassy in England, a scary place for someone like her to be right now, I imagine.

Not The Same River by W.A. Polf
A good short story collection for those who like slice-of-life writing. I am not a fan of that style.

The Wicked Lady by Elena Collins
A dual-timeline novel with the historical part focussing on an actual 17th century woman who was a highway robber. Worth a read for her story.
