Honestly, I like this prompt so much better than "a book published in 2024" because it gives those of us who don't really read new releases (I'm forever buried under my physical TBR stack) a lot more flexibility!
Mirrored Heavens, which is the third book in a trilogy, comes out in June 2024 so I'll be reading that one :)
Barnes and Noble has an excellent selection of nonfiction books that are slated for release in 2024 (some of them have been released, but are being released in paperback). The list is certainly coming in handy for me. I've already placed some books in my wish list.
These are the 2024 releases on my radar so far:Ash and Feather (Flame and Sparrow Duology Book 2)
A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping
Void of Endings (Final book in Faeven Saga series)
Found this list:https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
I have What Moves the Dead on my my list for a different prompt so if I like it, I will probably read the sequel What Feasts at Night for this prompt. Either that or Murder Road.
Side note: Where Sleeping Girls Lie has a beautiful cover.
Already I have a good start. Many of these have already been released, but are now coming out in paperback which is something I tend to look for depending on the book. The Earth Is All That Lasts: Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, and the Last Stand of the Great Sioux Nation - PB
Oscar Wars: A History of Hollywood in Gold, Sweat, and Tears- PB
Burn It Down: Power, Complicity, and a Call for Change in Hollywood
The Parrot and the Igloo - PB
Women Without Kids: The Revolutionary Rise of an Unsung Sisterhood - PB
The Sixth Extinction (10th Anniversary Edition): An Unnatural History - PB
The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story - PB
*****
Then here is one that is a first-time release.
Facing the Unseen: The Struggle to Center Mental Health in Medicine
Going with The Jinn Daughter by Rania Hannamiddle eastern folklore and legend mixed with magical realism and features a storytelling jinn whose job is to tell the stories of the dead
I finished an eARC of Twisted Fate by Adam Lewis. It releases in March 2024. It was absolutely amazing.
There's so many great books coming out this year so it was hard to choose, but I certainly think I'll be going with this book:
The Allure of the Multiverse: Extra Dimensions, Other Worlds, and Parallel Universes
I don't like this prompt. There are too many books that are coming out in 20
24
so I don't know what to choose! And now I find out that Nicholas Sparks has a new novel coming out in September.
Counting Miracles: A Novel
I have a book just released today translated from Ukrainian...Forgottenness, that I may use for this prompt. But I'm also interested in reading A Passage To India so it might be that one.
“The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years” - it was published in January. For me the book wasn’t interesting until literally halfway through it.
The Lies You Wrote by Brianna Labuskes came out this year. Can't say i was terribly impressed with it.
I decided to add a personal prompt to get some 2024 releases read each month. At least one of them must be released that month. After polishing off The Lies You Wrote by Brianna Labuskes for January, I've since read:Feb
Leo Vardiashvili – Hard by a Great Forest
Mar
Amy Tintera – Listen to the Lie
Apr
*Julia Alvarez – The Cemetery of Untold Stories
*Leif Enger – I Cheerfully Refuse
May
*Carys Davies – Clear
*Emiko Jean – The Return of Ellie Black
*Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan – Falling Down (short story)
*Rachel Khong – Real Americans
I'll get to two more for June:
*Morgan Talty – Fire Exit
*Catherine Mack – Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies
I have library holds (sigh...) for:
*Erik Larson – The Demon of Unrest
*Stuart Turton – The Last Murder at the End of the World
*Ruth Ware – One Perfect Couple
*Yuzuki Asako – Butter

I'm doing something similar for myself. I'm super excited to read Talty's new book! (But I'm also super excited to read all the OTHER 2024 pubs that I"ve got right now)

I started off with The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson which Google said were published in 1924, but there were so many editions of these poems, some published earlier, that I read instead So Big. That was definitely first published in 1924, and was a very enjoyable story, particularly the first half of the book.
I went with This Is the Honey , a poetry collection about Black joy, edited by Kwame Alexander. A lot of fabulous poets: Nikki Giovanni, Jericho Brown, Amanda Gorman, Clint Smith & a zillion more.http://www.lauraruthloomis.com/whats-...
I read The Ballad of Smallhope and Pennyroyal (2024) by Jodi Taylor. It's in the same universe as her Chronicles of St. Mary, but it's not one of her best. It is not a stand alone, and some parts won't make much sense if you haven't read the others.

I noticed with surprise that this year they didn't give us the perennial favorite: " a book published this year." If you, like me, love to read new publications, this is your category! 2024! If you prefer older books, then you're in luck too: 1924, 1824, 1724, 1624 ...
If you add books to the Listopia, please note the publication year.
Listopia list is Here: A Book That Came Out in a Year that Ends in 24
