Jennifer W | 1822 comments I read Firefly: Legacy Edition Book One by Zack Whedon. I really liked it, but you need to have watched the show before reading the book.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 265 comments I've read two that fit for this prompt this month.

Title: Shards of Earth - 3*
Author: Adrian Tchaikovsky
Would you recommend this book? Yes, but it is a bit of a chonker (500+pg). The worldbuilding is great, and most of the characters are likeable, but it is long and quite heavy in places (it took about a month to get through in and among other books). This is the one I've used for the prompt.

However, if anyone wants another idea, I'd recommend:

Title: Translation State - 4*
Author: Ann Leckie
Would you recommend this book? Definitely. It's still not a short read (~425pg), but the pacing is much better (it only took me three sittings), and it's much more about the three POV characters than the overarching world view.

Rachel Anne (rakados) | 34 comments Hi everyone!

I just finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

This book has been on my TBR list for quite some time, so I am thrilled I finally got to sit down and read it.

I would absolutely recommend this book. I have read The Martian and Artemis and I thought they were both great, but Project Hail Mary was even better.

The concept was so unique, and the story was so well told. The main character Ryland, and each of the characters he "remembers" as his amnesia fades evolve wonderfully. The other main character he meets...even cooler! Without spoiling, just have to say, one of the best sci-fi books I have ever read, and overall one of the best sci-fi tales I have experienced in any medium!

Author: Becky Chambers
Would you recommend this book? Yes! I have even recommended it to reader friends who avoid sci-fi. I've discovered that I don't hate sci-fi. I just need a lot of science - preferably biology, but every scientific discipline is very welcome - along with my fiction!

I also read this one, and had not seen the show. I agree that I missed something.
