Happy Friday!

Hope you're all enjoying The Final Girl Support Group. I am enjoying all the posts and reviews.

Even though it's still November, let’s chat about our December pick. Instead of our usual rule of going for a book that’s been around for a year, let’s switch it up. This time, how about we make a list of the best books we've all read this year? Then, we can vote on which one to read in December. No need to worry about the 12-month rule this time.

So, spill the beans - what's the absolute best book you read this year? Nominate a book in the comments.

Let’s gather the top picks and decide on our next read for December!

Susan | 11 comments My absolute favorite this year is REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt. Instantly one of my all time favorite books!
But it has been a good reading year for me so if I can mention a few other top books for me this year. I would include SAVING EMMA by Allen Eskens, ASK FOR ANDREA by Noelle W. Ihli, I AM PILGRIM by Terry Hayes, LOOK CLOSER by David Ellis, EIGHT PERFECT MURDERS by Peter Swanson, THE LOOP by Ben Oliver. And I just listened to the audio book for my favorite Christmas book MR. DICKENS AND HIS CAROL. Okay, I'm done and even though I didn't keep it at just one, I did name my one absolute favorite for the year as requested. Looking forward to seeing the titles posted here!

Here are few others:

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
The Light Between Oceans by LM Stedman
The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff

message 12: by Anne (new)

Anne I’ve read several that I gave 5stars, but Octavia Butler has wowed me the most:
Bloodchild and Other Stories Bloodchild and Other Stories by Octavia E. Butler

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve arrived late to the wonderful writing of Octavia Butler. I loved these stories and essays, and find her writing to be truly superb. These stories touched me in a variety of ways and made me stop and think, though I couldn’t wait to get to the next one. I’ve read a couple of others by Butler and will definitely be working my way through the rest of her work.

Lady J. Raquelle | 9 comments I have two books that I read this year that were absolutely incredible. "The Pale Blue Eye" by Louis Bayard and :This Is How You Lose the Time War" by Max Gladstone. I think the latter would be a great December read because the book is made up of letters to and from the two main characters.

message 28: by ROBYN (new)

ROBYN MARKOW “The Hummingbird’s Daughter-Luis Alberto Urrea

“Shrines Of Gaiety”- Kate Atkinson

The Second Life Of Miriellle West-Amanda
Skenandore

Spare-Prince Harry( & ghostwritten by someone
whose name I’ll have to look up👍) Tbh, I found it overlong & over-written by it still was a fascinating glimpse into the British Royal Family. That & I think Harry seems like a relatable awa overall likable person (No hate replies please as I won’t answer them anyway)

Dance Of The Dolls( Forgot the name of the author but will give it to anyone who enjoys reading about Balllet & Thrillers since it’s both )

One of my all-time favorites! 💜

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 136 comments My favorite book I've read this year is actually the first one I read this year. Amazing atmosphere and character building in this book. It's a cross between a thriller for figuring out where a missing person has gone and a horror for the creepy atmosphere:

Bone White by Ronald Malfi

Kaitlyn Ewoldt (kaitlyn_ewoldt) | 50 comments So many favorites! Below are a few nominations:

Night Will Find You

Also if you love historical novels I highly recommend The Porcelain Maker it was just released last week but was so amazingly great, tragic, and heart warming. I listened to the audiobook since I received it as an ARC. It's also a debut!

This is going to be a long poll :)

I will set it up tomorrow and try to include at least 1 suggestion from each person who responded.

Thanks for all the suggestions----sounds like people had a good reading year.
