The Evening Shades by Lee Martin ⭐⭐⭐⭐.4 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Not sure which thread to post in so I'm just chancing here. I submitted my review to Amazon on publication day for the NetGalley book I read. I got an email saying they couldn't publish it as it didn't follow guidelines. I've done it exactly as I always have and this had never happened before. Has this happened to anyone else? I'd be grateful for any advice.
The Rulebreaker: The Life and Times of Barbara WaltersFive stars and almost an entire year late!

If you made even the tiniest self reference (example: "I have terrible eczema, so I appreciated the way it was referred to in the text...") Any reference to the author that might be considered personal; any vaguely triggering word--I had to fight through the back channels once to get a review posted because I had used the word "Nazi," but the book was a history of Nazi Germany!--any links you included to anything else. Or it might just be the weather. I've gotten pretty good at working around most of their restrictions, but every now and then, it still happens to me, too.
Donna thank you so much for replying!!! It's the first time ever it's happened to me. Does that mean I won't ever get to post the review of that book? I've gone back over my review and there's not a single thing I can see that would cause it not to be published. I contacted them and talked to them online but so far no changes.
Teresa wrote: "Donna thank you so much for replying!!! It's the first time ever it's happened to me. Does that mean I won't ever get to post the review of that book? I've gone back over my review and there's not ..."In order to post it, you'd have to be able to figure out how they want it modified, which is sometimes daunting. If you can, do; if you can't, it isn't the end of the world. You can post the next one there. And of course, there are other retail sites where your offensive (ha) review will be entirely welcome.
When this happens to me, I read over my review to see if I can find the passage or passages that might be drawing the ire of their censor. If I can find it, I go back and fix it and try again. If I can't, I say, "Oh well. I tried." and I move on to the next one. I'm assuming you have some other places you are posting, apart from GR and Amazon...?

If so, it's almost guaranteed to be the word "Nazi." A human censor would have common sense and understand that the term is not being used as a slur here, but rather as a factual description, but the flags are done by computer, with certain objectionable words automatically preventing your review from posting. You will either have to talk to an actual person at Amazon to get it overridden, or else give up on this one and post it at BN, Powell's, or some other retail site. You have my deepest sympathy; it's beyond frustrating.

I've gone back over my review and there's not ..."It's very frustrating when this happens. What Donna said is spot on. You just have to censor your review until it loses all signs of a soul. Amazon bots like bot-like reviews, so stick to basic feedback and cut out all personal references. Good luck!
PS: If it is the same review that Donna linked, cut out the words 'nazi' and 'hell'.

I contacted Amazon which was a complete waste of time.!! Literally got no help. I asked them to point me in the direction they were opposed to, got nothing. A standard answer and got that twice!

The fact they published the one you have highlighted here and not the other amazes me! I got absolutely zero help when I contacted Amazon.

Teresa wrote: "It's called Tough Times on Coronation Close. There's absolutely nothing I can see that's the problem."I just read the review. My suggestion would be to cut out the first sentence. I have noticed that Amazon bots penalise any reference to earlier experiences, either in the same series or other books by the same author. No idea why they do that!
If you want to be further on the safe side, just delete everything before "This book didn't grab me..." before you paste it on Amazon.

Thanks Rosh. I'll take a look at that.
