📚 Just Finished: The Book of Lost Hours
by Hayley Gelfuso (ARC)This book completely stole my breath. I read it in one sitting, couldn’t eat, drink, or even blink till I turned the last page. It's an emotional, time-bending story set across the 1940s and 1960s, following two unforgettable women navigating love, loss, and memory in a world unlike any I've read before.
If you enjoy books like The Midnight Library or The Ministry of Time, this one needs to be on your radar.
Releases August 26, 2025!
📝 I’ve shared my full (spoiler-free!) review on my blog. Check it out here, in case interested, but not required. The book speaks for itself, doesn't need my words.

Six Crimson CranesFive stars
A colorful and exciting fantasy with cheerful and resourceful heroes, who have tons of adventures but always appreciate a good meal :)
I just finished William
Mason Coile
I rated it 5 stars. It's a demented robot story but it reads like a ghost / haunted house story. It's gory and twisted. Has a surprise ending too..
Nana: Romance - Two Stars.Peças Escolhidas 1: Quando Nós, os Mortos, Despertarmos / John Gabriel Borkman / O Pequeno Eyolf / O Construtor Solness - Five Stars.
The Glass Menagerie
Tennessee Williams
I found it both disturbing and sad yet I rated it 5 stars.
Poor Laura suffers a lot in here. But it's an easy to read play.
I have spoiler free reviews too.
📚 Recently read A Most Puzzling Murder
by Bianca Marais and I need to talk about it!I’m a sucker for mysteries that do something a little different, and this one hit the sweet spot between cozy, clever, and completely unputdownable.
If you love solving clues alongside the characters, this might just be your next obsession. It’s smart, funny, and even a little interactive — yes, you can actually email for clues and unlock bonus stories. How fun is that?
I’ve shared more of my thoughts (and strong opinions!) in my full review here:

I just finished two books...Joanna BrichettoThis Is How a Robin Drinks: Essays on Urban Nature
I rated it 3 stars. This is a bunch of individual essays of the author's personnel experience with nature. Not all of these tales kept my attention and so my mind was wondering to other things. The book certainly taught me a few things but I also often felt that I couldn't relate to it. Maybe because it was in Tennessee and I am in Wisconsin.
Ten Sleep
Nicholas Belardes
I actually preferred the nature descriptions in this horror story! The environment is a huge part of the plot in here and some chapters were even from the viewpoint of various animals. But this is a western horror ghost type novel. Very original.
I rated it 5 stars.
I also got attached to some of the characters too.
The book has a ecology theme too.
But it's bloody and gory as well.
I finished The No-End House
Jeremy BatesI rated it 3 stars. It has a lot of adventure in it and some unexpected environments too. But there is a scene in there that I had a hard time accepting so it goofed up my belief in what was going on.
I write reviews that are spoiler free. Check out my review.
I just finished a very twisty mystery cop story set in England. I rated it 5 stars. This is the fourth book I read in this series and definitely one of the best. The truth at the end had me gasping! All the Rage
Cara Hunter
This was so good I read the whole thing in less than 24 hours and it's a very thick book!
Peças Escolhidas vol 2: Hedda Gabler, A dama do mar, Romersholm, O pato selvagem by Henrik Ibsen
Five Stars.
Hello everyone!I’m excited to share that I’ve recently published my debut novel, A Love Beyond Memory, under the pen name Moreanu Noir. If you’re into emotional, character-driven romance with a touch of mystery, I’d love for you to check it out!
I’d truly appreciate your thoughts or a quick review if you get the chance. 💙
Thanks and happy reading!
This morning I finished The Hunger of the Gods
John Gwynne
I rated it 4 stars. The numerous subplots really keeps the story moving. Action, blood, sword fights and strange creatures galore. And the gods of course.
I read The Prince's Poisoned Vow by Hailey Turner, gave it 3 but it's more of a 3.8. Review: The Prince’s Poisoned Vow is a political fantasy where intrigue takes center stage—deceptions, shifting alliances, and courtly machinations drive the story forward. The world-building is compelling, blending celestial deities with steampunk-inspired mechanics, creating a magic system that feels fresh and inventive. While the setting and characters are well-crafted, I found myself wanting deeper exploration of both—perhaps due to the multiple POVs and intersecting storylines spreading the focus a bit thin.
That said, the plot remains engaging, even if some twists are predictable. One of the book’s strongest aspects is its seamless LGBTQ+ representation, which feels natural and refreshing. The mix of divine magic and mechanical innovation gives the story a unique edge, toeing the line between fantasy and magical realism.
If you enjoy political scheming, diverse characters, and creative world-building, this is a satisfying read—just don’t expect the depth of a doorstopper epic. A solid choice for fans of intrigue-driven fantasy with a twist.
Powerless and powerful and they were both AMAZING. I loved development of the characters and I gave it 5 stars out of 5💜
I finished Ruffian: A Racetrack Romance
William Nack
I gave it 5 stars. I learned some new things from it too but it's a somewhat sad memoir.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which I rated 3/5 stars, a bit of a disappointment tbh. I was hoping for more murder/true crime and less "here's randos who live in Savannah."
I have finished 3 books today! Shroud
Adrian Tchaikovsky
I rated this 5 stars. It's an intense survival story on an alien world with a toxic atmosphere. And the alien is truly alien.
Three Dollar Mule
Clyde Robert Bulla
5 stars!
A fun children's book about how an animal doesn't have to look perfect in order to be useful. Nor does it need to be some expensive breed like a thoroughbred. A mule is just fine.
Gliff
Ali Smith
4 stars
This is one of those dystopian stories set in a near future where AI, wearables and proper ID is required. And it follows 2 homeless children as they try to live in that society. The main character is 13 year old Briar and his sister Rose is 11. They meet a grey gelding that Rose named Gliff.
The Heir by Keira Cass. Rated it 3.5⭐️ because the main character is kinda frustrating with her actions and thought processes, making her less likable than the main character in the original trilogy, and she had her flaws too, but still less frustrating. It's irritating that Goodreads doesn't allow half-star ability when ratings
