Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2461 comments I found STRAWBERRY lip gloss ... no cherry ... so far ...

message 52: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments @Alana - yay! I just keep thinking of the Walking Dead episode where they had applesauce :D

@Cait - I will look at your books LOL. I just had a black tie dance in Masquerade and no boutonniere either.

message 53: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Thanks for the ruling Alana and Cait. I thought so, but since it's my list, I'm a lot harder on myself.

I always like to try to make the lists difficult, but then I participate too, so when I'm trying to find these items, I'm cursing myself. lol

Marla - Applesauce is on this list because of that Walking Dead episode. ;-)

BC - I keep expecting to find a bunch of different flavored lip glosses, but I haven't even found those yet.

message 54: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments LOL Paris, it is karma that you can't finish your own list...cuz you make us all crazy :D

Applesauce ~ too funny ~ LOVE Walking Dead

Lip Gloss ~ closest I've got is "shiny lips" they didn't even mention the product or cosmetic

message 55: by Cait S (new)

Cait S I love that the list is challenging, Paris! It makes the hunt actually last the whole three months. If it were easy and we were all done Month 1 and just sat around for the next two, that would be a total bummer. Personally for the first 2 months I just read whatever and let fate find the words. The last month I put a little more effort into reading the kinds of books that I think will hold the words I need. The last two WEEKS is desperation mode where I start stalking everyone else's lists lol

message 56: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments LOL Cait! I just read whatever and happen upon the words I need, which is probably why I am always left with a stray word or two.

I should apply your example Cait, then maybe I would actually finish sometime.

message 57: by Cait S (new)

Cait S It would literally drive me insane if I left a list unfinished. I came so close to not finishing last time because of mistletoe and tarot cards that I was like in panic mode over it lol Leaving a list or a challenge unfinished is like.... NOPE. Can't do it lol

message 58: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Cait, you crack me up. I've done every single one of these and have only finished the list once. I always want to read what others have read to find my missing items, but there are so many books I have to read, that I just can't and then my list is left unfinished. At least I find them later..even if it doesn't count, it still makes me feel better. lol

message 59: by Cait S (new)

Cait S I can't help it! It's a serious problem lol

Alana (alockley) Me again! I'm so OCD sometimes, would you take these?

Chaise lounge: "I head to one of the lounges by the window." (she sits on it)

Throw rug: "...to the little rug beside my bed."

message 62: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2461 comments re: Item # 17
We might have better luck finding this item if we have it spelled correctly

chaise LONGUE (pronounced like LONG)

message 63: by Cait S (new)

Cait S I am starting to get seriously frustrated by how many people carry LIPSTICK in their purse but not CHAPSTICK. Every time someone drops a purse or digs through someone's bag I'm sitting here like come on come on come on--

message 64: by Cait S (last edited Apr 25, 2015 06:51PM) (new)

Cait S You guys.

I just stumbled on "cherry lip gloss" totally randomly and I am freaking out. This is the best day ever.

message 65: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Alana, I'll accept the throw rug option, but the chaise lounge or longue depending on the type of book you read (I've only ever seen it in modern books as lounge, BC, but I bet it's found in historicals correctly spelled), I would only accept that if they either say chaise OR describe the lounges to the point where it's without a doubt shaped like a chaise.

message 66: by Alana (new)

Alana (alockley) Would "ears of corn" count for "corn on the cobb"?

message 67: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Alana wrote: "Would "ears of corn" count for "corn on the cobb"?"

Will you take 'DUVET'?

message 72: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Yes BC I'll accept that.

message 73: by Cait S (new)

Cait S This might be a long shot, but would this work for boutonniere?

"He wears a small flower in a buttonhole on his jacket..."

message 74: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments Cait wrote: "This might be a long shot, but would this work for boutonniere?

Please say yes, cuz I had that too.

message 75: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Or if that sentence doesn't work, what about this one?

"He stares at the waterfall, stroking the petals of a fresh flower that he's pinned to his jacket."

Please, please tell me one of these works lol *crosses fingers*

message 76: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments No, the first one! LOL

message 77: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Both of those will work ladies. lol

I have never been so excited in my entire life lol Including the births of my children (sorry guys)

message 83: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments I still have 10 left and 5 bonus left...with 8 days to go, this is my worse showing to date!

*sighs heavily*

message 84: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Marla, it goes until the end of June. You have over a month left :)

message 85: by Marla (new)

 Marla | 1036 comments *brightens*...thanks!

I think I need to take a page out of some other people's method and target my reading to find some of these items.

Now, instead of depression, I have a mission.

message 86: by Cait S (new)

Cait S It really does help. I'm down to my last 3 words. Two of them are in the next book I'm reading and one I need to hunt down yet. Black belt is proving harder than I thought it would be.

I really like the surprise aspect of it, like not knowing you're going to find a word and all of a sudden THERE IT IS! But when I get down to like the final five and they are really uncommon words (lei for example) the quote function on goodreads and the "Look inside" on amazon are my best friends lol

message 87: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments Yup, those 2 things were part of my plan.

message 88: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Picked up a random book yesterday for another challenge and just found an entire chapter where the characters are making applesauce!! :D

This has been a really tough round. Extra rewarding lol

message 89: by Book Concierge (last edited May 24, 2015 07:11AM) (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2461 comments I haven't had any luck finding mulch but I did find:
"... mound some humus around those rose trees..."

Would that count?

By the way ... I also found SNOWSHOES if anyone is still looking - Red Sky at Morning

I was hoping to find "yew" in that book but while he mentions pinon, spruce, juniper, and cedar ... no yew. S I G H

message 90: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Mulch and humus are so close that I will except that BC.

That's one of the words I'm having a difficult time finding too.

Cait S I'm FINISHED! Woohoo!

Completed- post 5

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2461 comments Question re 10.Lei

This part of the book is set in Tahiti ...
"The people draped numberless strands of flowers around his neck; the flowers hung heavily upon him, like chains."

Would that count?

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Ended this round with 35 regular items and 9 bonus. Not bad.

message 96: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments Congrats Cait!

Life got really crazy, so I could never concentrate on these words like I wanted to.

Ended the round with 28 items and 6 bonus items. This may be my worse showing ever.

message 97: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2461 comments I ended the round with 37/40 regular items found (missing: Chapstick, Black Belt and Cherry Lip Gloss - though I DID find Strawberry lip gloss ...)

Also found all 10 of the bonus items.

This is definitely my poorest showing. I think I've found all the items in the last 3 or 4 hunts.

message 98: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I couldn't find black belt either BC...until the first book I read this round and there it was. So annoying. Cherry Lip Gloss was a difficult one too. I think that one came from Jenne.

message 99: by Cait S (new)

Cait S That was a really tough round! Good job everyone!
