Scavenger Hunt XIV

Duration: April 1st to June 30th, 2015

•This “Challenge” works in conjunction with the other challenges you may participate in during this time frame.

•While you are fulfilling the requirements of your other challenges, be on the lookout for the following items - they may be on the cover or mentioned in the book. Most items are specific, but if in doubt about an item – just ask!

•You may use a book to fulfill multiple items (you do not have to read 50 books for this challenge...do not worry!)

•When you find one of the items, list the Book Title and Author (or link the cover), date it, & rate it. Then specify where the item is found within the book. For audiobooks try to put the chapter if possible. If not, then at least let us know you got it from an audiobook.

•Books that are used must be read during the period of this challenge, the challenge does not start until 4/1/15, but you can get your lists together early. Good Luck & Happy Reading! ☺

Cait S Paris, would this work for "throw rug"?

...while he covered Annabelle's face and chest with the only thing he could find, a small rug.

It's a rug and apparently small enough to be thrown lol

message 14: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Yeah Cait, I'll take that. A throw rug, to me, is any kind of rug that isn't attached to your floor or a mat in the bathroom.

Is that someone's name? If so, I'd have to say no since it's so early in this round. Unless you get desperate. So save that for the end and if you don't find mulch anywhere else, you can use it at the end.

message 32: by Cait S (new)

Cait S I went into this one thinking mulch might be one that took me a while to find and I have literally found it in every single book I have read so far this month. Why does that not happen more often?! lol

message 33: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments hahaha nice Cait. Wouldn't that be great if it did? But what fun would that be? I'm thinking that one will be tough for me though.

That was me with the "snowshoes" last time. I think I found it in four books.

Does that count?

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Yep. That works BC!

message 37: by Alana (new)

Alana (alockley) Does it have to specifically say "postage stamp" or "news report" or can it be a stamp that was put on a piece of mail and a news story?

message 38: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Both of those would work Alana.

lol

Jonquil | 699 comments It was 11:30 Sunday night and I was listening to a book on tape to distract myself from the fact that I'm driving around at 11:30 at night and the love interest mentions the ChapStick website. And I start yelling "ChapStick, ChapStick, OMG, ChapStick." And suddenly the cars that have been pacing me for miles start to decelerate, and I'm alone on the road, chair dancing about ChapStick.

Oh man. The books have it out for you this round!

message 45: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I need a group opinion. Would y'all consider Oscar Wilde, John D. Rockefeller, or William Randolph Hearst as celebrities? One thing to keep in mind, the book is set in the 1920's.

Thanks!

message 46: by Alana (new)

Alana (alockley) Yes, all of those were celebrities in that time. Rockefeller and Hearst were the Mark Cubin, Bill Gates or Donald Trump of their times. And Oscar Wilde was a crazy author, that is definitely a celebrity.

message 47: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Most definitely.

message 48: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1036 comments @Paris ~ snow shoes and roller skates were both tough. Congrats.

@Jonquil ~ I am envious, I don't think I will ever find chapstick (not to mention cherry lip gloss, boutonniere, mulch, applesauce and fire hydrant). This seems like a tough list.

message 49: by Cait S (new)

Cait S Marla, if desperate times call for it, read ANY book that I have listed on mine so far. Mulch has been in absolutely all of them, it's insane.

It is a tough list though! I just intensely read the prom scenes from Perks of Being a Wallflower hoping that someone would mention a boutonniere lol No dice.

message 50: by Alana (new)

Alana (alockley) I found applesauce in the last place I would have expected to find it! In a dinner scene with Alex Cross' family in Cross My Heart.
