Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph or Sandra) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

I'm Rosina and live in Canada. Great to see Debbie again. Marisa nice to meet you. I have a very active work and social life and reading is my relaxation and happy place.

I would prefer not to be captain this round, busy with doing an audit at work till the end of November.

Review:
Enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery, sixth in "Southern Sweet Tea Witches." A nice find in kindle unlimited and I also like other series by author. Six books in, the main character, Pepper Dunn, has more angst and insecuirty than she should have (I have little patience with angst). She was eyerolling-ly trusting of the big bad proven awful in previous books. I'm okay with slow burn or even clean romance, but I think this book needed more romance. I do enjoy the series; I put off this book until needed for BINGO since I don't enjoy plots like synopsis noted where time stands still or loops like Groundhog's Day. Overall, I rate this one average with plenty of action and fast paced. I'll continue the series. Hopefully less angst and less trusting in future books. Pepper outsmarted the bad guy, but is way too trusting.

Review: #17 in "Starry Hollow Witches" paranormal cozy mystery series. Series is still going strong. I'm still enjoying this world and the main characters. No surprises or spoilers in this one; it seems more like an episode (if this were a tv series) than a full part of series progression. As synopsis mentions, there is a marriage proposal, but not really anything else essential to storyline progression.

Review: I wasnt sure what to expect from this read. I knew it was a popular book last year and I went in blind. I try hard to read books that are fantasy but usually cast them aside as they are just too much for my brain to figure out.
I was pleasantly surprised with this read. Definitely is a cozy read. The MC is Viv who is retiring from being an adventurer of sorts. She is an Orc and is wanting a more peaceful life. She had saved her money over the years and is ready to start out on this different type of adventure.
I liked how all the secondary characters were ones that you root for and want the best for. There were some villans but they were not too viscious or unlikeable.
The story starts with Viv finding a place to start her coffee shop in a city that she likes but that have never had gnomish coffee.
There are many renovations that need to be done after she bought a livery building. The characters come in as needed. A carpenter, a baker, an assistant, a musician. There are many different types of beings - succubus, rattkin, gnomes, elf, fey, a dire-cat.
This is a quick read and nice slow pace, a great read for a lazy weekend read. Characters I really enoyed were Thimble the rattkin baker and Amity the dire cat.
I will source out the new one as I enoyed the writing style and pace.

Spirits and Sourdough (A Magical Bakery Mystery, #10) by Bailey Cates

Review

This book has two threads: The murder itself, isolated in the book, and a long thread, the recovery of Conell (not saying more, spoilers). I've liked the mystery itself, how it evolves, the end, absurd but sadly human, and how all of the characters are ready to help the others. A good feeling after reading the book, but a sad feeling too. I hope there will be more books in the series.

Review: #1 in "Cambrio Springs" paranormal romance series. Well written. A better developed worldbuilding than I was expecting in that you got a sense of the history of the town and the residents, even pulled in local mythologies.

Definitely a series that is firmly in the "paranormal romance" genre with each HEA book to be following a different couple's romance.

I read this in one sitting and it gripped me the entire time. Liked the main character and even the mystery element. But after finishing, without some of the paranormal elements, I felt I could have been reading any of the romances I read decades ago with a widowed settler with children relocating to a new town or returning to an old one--which while a compliment to the atmosphere author created for the town made it less interesting for me.

The romance was fine, but the hero was a bit of wish fulfillment for the MC right down to adoring her kids. The town/society punishing their own (basically murder) with neighboring law enforcement aware, restrictive rules and measures to protect the secrecy was creepy even though not unusual for pnr/uf genre books. Almost a small cult town feel.

So, overall a well-written, original story with interesting elements. But not a series I'm likely to continue even free in kindle unlimited. Next books are romances of side characters that didn't engage my interest. Not enough "urban" to warrant calling it "urban fantasy" -- the small rural southwestern U.S. town could have been set in any time period. I suspect the murder victim may have been the most interesting character.

Everything was there for this to become a new favorite series, but just not into it.

Oh my goodness I do love me some shifters. This story kept my attention from the beginning. I enjoyed the writing style and the story line. A bunch of shifters I think 16 if memory serves, member of the Dallas SWAT team.
THere is lots of action, this is more of a romantic suspense story. Gage is the commander of SWAT and the story opens with a crime boss son being killed by the SWAT. Mackenzie is a journalist who is doing a story on the SWAT as she was told they used performance enhancing drugs and she wants to find out the truth. Gage and Mackenzie are attracted to each other right away. I thought it was a good start to a series and I will continue on.

Review:
Oh my goodness what a long winded snoozefest this was. Over 50% was just a tad boring for me, just soooooo drawn out. I am use to reading SK or DK or RL for horror and this just does not measure up. Definitely wanted more action or something to make me want to keep reading. The last third of the story once it picked up was quite good and very descriptive.
Margot is inheriting the family winery. She is going home for her parents funerals and hasnt seen them since she was quite young. She was sent away and raised by her grandmother. The land is cursed and the house is haunted.
At the end I was still left wanting to know more of the backstory. I wanted to know about Margot’s parents, and their experiences, as well as the rest of the Hull family
