23. The Other Book With The Similar Plot

Prompt 23 is closely tied to the previous one, #22. For this prompt, we want you to read the other book with the similar plot. So if Book A and Book B have similar plots, and you read Book A for prompt 22, we want you to now read Book B for prompt 23.

The point of this isn’t to feel like you’re reading the same book twice, but to look at some of the similarities and differences that naturally occur between books. Of these two, which did you like more? Were they actually similar? Or what it just surface-level similarities? Was one inspired by the other? These are all things to think about and explore while reading this book.

Click here for our Goodreads List of suggestions

Also, when viewed in the Website (not the app) you can add comments/reasons mentioning the similar book to each title you add or vote for. These can be viewed by clicking on "1 person voted" or "3 people voted" etc.

Jens (jensjot) | 5 comments The title of this forum thread ends with the word "title", not "plot" - slightly confusing.
("Books with similar titles" sounds like an cool prompt too!)

Elise Cullers (elisecullers) | 1 comments What books are similar to A Simple Wild? I was thinking of Archers voice but not sure.

Alternatively thinking about “if he had been with me” and the sequel. If those qualify for this prompt and the prior.

message 16: by Carla (new)

Carla Hanchett (lovetoknit) | 59 comments I started David Copperfield by Dickens in Nov, but didn’t get far. I wanted to compare it to Demon Coppethead by Barbara Kingsolver. I’ll finish David Copperfield since I read Demon in early 2023.

message 24: by Devika (new)

Devika (youactlikeicare) | 172 comments I read See You Yesterday and The Do Over for these challenges. They are both romances with time loops.

The Do-Over is definitely lighter than See You Yesterday which does touch upon some more serious topics. I enjoyed both books, but The Do Over slightly more.

Kelly (booklover70) | 105 comments “The Blue Castle” by L M Montgomery is a wonderfully sweet novel. I wonder if the author knew that Colleen McCullough stole the plot for her own book. I liked this version much better than the one by McCullough.

According to the notes, "Battle Royale". Or many YA dystopian books could be considered similar

Anna (annafrommontana) | 413 comments Angie wrote: "I plan to read The Hinger Games since I own a copy. Can anyone suggest which title on the similar plot list works with The Hunger Games?"

You could probably use books one and two as similar since it is a continuation of the same story

message 40: by Phil (new)

Phil | 99 comments I read Death Rocks: A DCI Ryan Mystery by LJ Ross as it had to a similar plot to Seven Sisters by Katherine Kovacic as posted in the other thread.
Death Rocks dealt with various murders that were eventually linked
to a "murder club" where villians got someone killed on their behalf.
The price of that service was to commit murder for other members of the group. The motives were for pecuniary gain, revenge & relationship ending,
