I write stories for the geeky at heart — meaty mash-ups of sci-fi, fantasy, suspense, and romance, with no apology for the latter. I live where it rains nine months of the year. And I have a strange obsession with gingers (down to my freaky orange cat).

I have published sci-fi romance (including RWA RITA-nominated GHOST PLANET) with Tor Books and erotic fairy tales with Penguin Random House. Currently I have a fantasy historical romance trilogy in the works with Blackstone Publishing.

Waiting for inspiration is a good way to spend your whole life thinking, "I'm going to write a book some day." Don't wait for inspiration. Sit down at the computer every day. When you're inspired, write a lot! When you're not inspired, write a lot! Rinse, repeat. (less)

“I have a heart-shaped hole. Like an empty bird's next, it rests among marigold-hued ruffles above the topmost hook of my corset.
The hole was not left by something removed, but for something anticipated.”
Sharon Lynn Fisher, A Heart for Copper

“He held out the pendant in the palm of his hand.
"Happy birthday, Copper," he whispered.”
Sharon Lynn Fisher, A Heart for Copper

“What sort of work do you do?"
Lifting her skirts with one hand, still holding the owl in the other, she started for the cottage. "Quickening. Citizens of this spacetime call it clockwork magic."

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Albert Einstein

“Calvin said, "Do you know that this is the first time I've seen you without your glasses?"

"I'm blind as a bat without them. I'm near-sighted, like father."

"Well, you know what, you've got dream-boat eyes," Calvin said. "Listen, you go right on wearing your glasses. I don't think I want anybody else to see what gorgeous eyes you have.”
Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time

“First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not. Habit will help you finish and polish your stories. Inspiration won't. Habit is persistence in practice.”
