That's so fun! It's been ages since I read the first one (right when it came out I think?) but I liked it a lot! Guess now I need to figure out where to get the sequel (I don't have audible at the moment)

Keli | 1319 comments Would you all call this green or blue? The Villa by Rachel Hawkins
I know there is TinEye, but I find it's sometimes unreliable. I mean it never sees white, just shades of grey🤨

Oof, that's a tough one! I think it leans slightly more blue than green but I'm happy to let myself be conviced otherwise

Oo..."

I'm afraid I'm with you on this - more blue than green. But then again I feel like it's public knowledge by now that I majorly struggle with teal-ish covers and usually lean the "wrong" way lmao.

I love this cover so so much!!

message 112: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I will err on the side of caution. I have plenty if other books with V titles and green covers. Voyager (Outlander, #3) by Diana Gabaldon springs to mind. It's been so long since I started this series, I'm juat not sure I can or want to pick it back up. I really enjoyed thr first book.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Just a quick question:

If we read a memoir/biography/autobiography that DOES have characters like The Glass Castle, because it is non-fiction we can't use the character names--right?

I think we'll be fine with the covers, we only need 5 green ones in total after all :) I'm definitely more concerned about all those Vs!

I believe in the past there were exceptions for memoirs etc., but the rules here clearly say no characters for nonfiction so I'm afraid you're right :(

OK...thanks Judy! I just wanted to clarify and make sure I was clear on that before I posted something on the SS incorrectly.

I have a lot of non-fiction --ghost stories, auto/biographies etc-- coming up that I checked out from the library for Halloween and other challenges that I will be reading this month that may or may not work here😓 Glad I re-read all the rules😂!

message 117: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments Hello everyone! SO sorry - it's been a bit wild here and I only got a little time this afternoon to check on things. Should all be calmer now (let's hope) but you know how life goes

I've started Divine Rivals and have The Ex Hex as a buddy read starting from tomorrow :D I've only found one book that fits the bonus so far but hoping more appear as we go on

Welcome Sanz! Lovely to have you :D

message 118: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Christene - can you double-check the edition you've shelved for Madison Square Murders? The one on your shelf has 299 pages (kindle edition) while the one in the spreadsheet is 287 (paperback).

Corrected sorry about that

message 120: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments No worries, thanks for sorting that out! :)

message 121: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Yeah I think we need to be extra careful about which edition of our finished reads end up on our shelves this time around.
Saturday night I definitely used the link from the our tracking ss to log Veronika Decides to Die (the audio) as 'currently reading' but when I updated it to finished last night on the Home page it had switched to the default edition for some reason. Luckily it was easy to catch for me as the audio I was listening to had a very different cover, but this is definitely something we need to keep an eye on as a team.

message 122: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Ugh that's so annoying! But at least Goodreads fixed the default edition problems we had at the end of TT, that was hell trying to find the right one

GR keeps doing that to me :( I'll go look for the actual version I have but it jumps to a default one and I don't cop until after I've completed the book

It just happened again to one of my current reads ugh. Fingers crossed it's only a glitch for the both of us and nobody else is effected by it, but

@everybody please do double check to make sure the correct edition is shelved once you've logged your book Read!!

message 125: by Robin (Saturndoo) (last edited Oct 09, 2023 08:32PM) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments It's happening to me too! The audiobooks that I just read and shelved got reverted to either the default edition or an ebook edition. It was easy for me to catch too because I don't read many ebooks and the page counts were more than what an audiobook normally has😂 But I'm trying to double check everything...I'm adding it to Read shelf, checking it THEN putting it on my Wheel Shelf as I'm adding it to SS🤞that I don't miss anything!

I really really hate to be saying this so early into the challenge already but we're in need of several U's !!

Got some recs for U books, authors, narrators? Shoot!

message 127: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I have one on the ss now. Will to continue to hunt for more. The Unhoneymooners series is a quick read. Lisa Unger, the author has quite a few books. Ugly Love by CoHo can be an option too.

message 128: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments And if anyone who needs a book (audio and ebook) that is not available in their libraries or not subscribed to any of the reading services, I can try to look for it, just let me know. :)

message 129: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I have The Undetectables and Under One Roof(or Ali Hazelwoods Under One Roof) I'm going to try get to one of them over the next few days and will be starting Under Locke later today

I was in training all day yesterday and then had both bank and dentist app after (luckily I do get to keep my tooth! The stress of that worry was a lot lol)

message 130: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments That's great news, Aoife!

message 131: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I'm going to pick up the sequel to Unwritten Rules (bless series named after the first book!)

Just spent a moment going through past challenges and also found these:

- Undead and Unwed series - I didn't really enjoy the first book much so I'd rather not continue, but it might be up someone else's speed!
- Over the Woodward Wall series
- Ursula K. Le Guin
- all the Discworld books featuring Angua von Uberwald

Judy | 4065 comments Christene, can you please add The Only One Left to your shelf? Thanks!

message 135: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments I have a few U titles on my to-read shelf but unfortunately no access to any of them which is why I've focused on quick V reads for now instead of reading what I actually wanted to read to finish my popsugar challenge lel. fingers crossed I'll get through some of those next round then x)

message 136: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I finished one U book as I've been stuck in bed today... I thought I'd be fine but I did finally catch covid too after both of my parents have been more or less sick for the past week 🫠 the headache is killing me but otherwise it could be worse

I'm trying to finish up my Cleaning Out the TBR Closet challenge so I really should try to read the one book on there that works for this week's word... but the writing is so small and I'm trying not to wear my glasses because they make the headache worse

and then I recently told myself I'd read all the books from this extremely questionable sports romance list Goodreads posted lmao, I'm vaguely regretting it but at least it gives me a pool of books to hunt for letters in (it's this one, in case anyone is interested https://www.goodreads.com/blog/show/2...)

message 137: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments For anyone who fancies mystery thrillers, Undone is from the Cora Shields series. All books start with 'U'. I'll try the first book..

dang, hope you're feeling better soon, Judy! Try to get some rest, the books can wait!

Most of the books I still want/need/plan to read for this year's popsugar will work for the TBR Closet too thankfully - now I just need to get to them haha.
