Teams have been posted. Spreadsheets are in your threads. All that we need is for everyone to check in and start throwing water balloons (aka read lots of books!).

It's not too late to sign up. As long as I can keep the teams relatively even, I will keep adding people to teams. Keep an eye on these announcements because I may ask for more players to keep the teams even.

📢 REBOOT! Weekly Author Appreciation Thread – Your Invitation to the Bookish Roundtable!
(AKA: Let’s turn this quiet corner of LT into the lively library salon it deserves to be!)

The Backstory:
We launched this thread May 3rd with icons like Octavia Butler and Jane Austen… and let’s just say, it’s been cozy

(read:
).

But June’s lineup deserves better—so we’re hitting refresh and need YOUR voice to make it sing!

So......
✨ We're inviting you to be part of shaping this thread’s legacy from the ground up.

📚 June’s All-Star Roster:
• June 1–7: Toni Morrison (Bring your hot takes on Beloved or The Bluest Eye)
• June 8–14: Haruki Murakami (Cats! Jazz! Existential dread!)
• June 15–21: Ursula K. Le Guin (Earthsea lovers, assemble!)
• June 22–28: Ocean Vuong (Tissues required)
• June 29–July 5: N.K. Jemisin (Let’s argue about The Fifth Season again)

🤝 Zero pressure: Comment once, or claim a week as your fave!
🍵 Low-Stakes Fun: Think of it like a book club, but with zero homework and all the opinions.

How to Save This Thread (and Our Sanity):
1. Crash the Toni Morrison thread (https://www.librarything.com/topic/37...).

2. Not on LibraryThing? No prob!
• Lurk as a guest (no account needed).
• Make an account... you never have enough book accounts.. am i right?

3. Request an author below—we’ll add them to July!

The Goal: 10+ comments by June 7th. Let’s make this the thread everyone regrets sleeping on.

(P.S. If this fails, next month’s author is The Oxford English Dictionary… and nobody wants that.)

Open-Ended
Team & Individual Challenge

Replacement players needed

We need some replacement players for the D&D challenge. Please note that some changes have been made to the challenge.

Change 1: Check-ins will be done a minimum of once a week (more often if I have time). Please keep in mind that this is time-consuming and takes a lot of time for me to update. These are NOT preplanned tasks.

Change 2: is the formatting of the tasks. The opening task for each quest has a choice of a spell-out, regular tasks, and a story task. You may use any tools, like ChatGPT or any tool you can find online, to assist with the story task. The following tasks will NOT have story tasks. You will only see that in the opening quests. If it has a letter after the number, there will be no story task (quest 2, but not 2A or 2B).

Signups are still open for solo players & full teams only.

📢 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! 📢

After a good discussion between the mods, we have decided to shut down our sister site Booked For Life over at Library Thing due to the lack of activity and engagement it has received since we created it. BFL was originally created in October when there was talk about GR meeting its end. We wanted a place that our members could migrate to if the worst was to happen. However, this does not seem to be relevant anymore. If worries about this arise in the future, we may re-open BFL.

This is what we believe will be best for this community as we will be able to give HOB our full attention. The mod team always tries to make decisions based on what we think is best for our members, so we would love to hear your opinion on this matter. Feel free to post any thoughts or questions in this thread. 🥰

The ongoing challenges and engagement threads from BFL are currently being moved over to HOB.

Happy reading as always,
~ your HOB mod team ~ ❤️

The wikis are down again. Due to that AND the decision to step away from BFL for now, I have decided to post spreadsheets in the marathons that currently have wikis in them. Once the wiki comes back up, I will move all the books into the spreadsheets, and we will move forward with the new spreadsheets. I know that marathons like 26 that have been using the wiki for a while may be affected for a day or so (after the wiki comes back up) while we wait for the books to be moved over, but please be patient.
