The Boleyn Inheritance (The Tudor Court, #3) by Philippa Gregory by Philippa Gregory (The Tudor Court #3)

Finished 4/15/15
Rating: ★★★★
Review:

I read this book a few years ago and just re-read it because it worked for two challenges. I liked it though. It reminded me of when I was in a Philippa Gregory phase, reading all the books in this series. I like reading about Henry VIII because he's so freaking crazy. This book was about all the ladies who got his wrath after Anne Boleyn...when he was all psycho and fat with a nasty open wound. Anne of Cleeves is the one you feel bad for, because she really didn't have a choice. At least Henry just ruined her life but didn't kill her. The other ladies are just plain stupid. Obviously, this is fiction but very well done.

Dead Heat (Alpha & Omega, #4) by Patricia Briggs

Read: Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs
Series: Alpha & Omega Book #3
Date: 4/15/2015
Rating: *****
Review: I'm not giving spoilers, all I'll say is that I've been looking forward to the next book in this series and I loved it. I love the Omega wolf idea and that she has this "Valium" effect on other werewolves. It's very intriguing!

I just had to go and look when you mentioned this, it looks interesting ( I went to Amazon and looked inside)
The names don't seem weird to me all, though they are very different from Danish names, we have close links to Iceland and see Icelandic names relatively often.
I might have to look at this book depending what you end up thinking about it.

Review:

I gave this book 4 stars because it was very well written and I appreciate the amount of research that went into it. It is a fictional account of an actual woman who was convicted of murder in Iceland in the 1800's. The author took the story of these murders and created her own story about the protagonist, making her a likeable character although she was rumored to be a "witch." I found the story interesting but not extremely compelling. It was readable and a nice change of pace.

★★★. It's not you, it's me. seriously, I am not in the mood for this dystopian book though it was well written. Something about this story reminded that it reminded me of Spartacus.

Cherished was ★★★★. Blessed was ★★. I have never been able to connect to Griffin & Jim and I don't like the way the author is trying to force them on me. I only care about Matt and Evan, and theirs...It was nice to see them thinking about marriage. I applaud Evan for dealing with his mother in law the way he does. I have book 6 and will read it tomorrow.

Review:

I read this series many years ago and loved it so much, it inspired me to read more mysteries and thrillers. I decided to re-read some of the earlier books because I truly can't remember them! (which is kind of scary honestly.) I still enjoyed this book but didn't find it AS enthralling as I did previously, probably because I have read so many good thrillers since that time. I feel that the ending was kind of a let down, because the author used a cheap trick on the reader, giving the MC a voice which was incongruent to her true role in the book. I still have high hopes for the rest of the series, because I remember this one was never one of my favorites.

Review:
I like the story and the struggle Jerimiah has with himself after being threatened, which is what pulls this book up to 3 stars. I did not like the ending. I guess the author wants the readers to decide what those last few lines mean but I like the end of a standalone book to be neat or at least give the answers to who the bad guy was but this didn't.
