Christopher Conlon (goodreadscomchristopherconlon) | 530 comments The Coming of Cthugha by John Glasby. I can easily visualize this Cthulhu Mythos tale as a mid-1960s horror film from Hammer Studios or Amicus. Lots of fun so far.

message 75: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Conlon (goodreadscomchristopherconlon) | 530 comments The Coming of Cthugha by John Glasby is a kind of B-movie version of Lovecraft’s Mythos (or rather August Derleth’s reinterpretation of Lovecraft’s Mythos). Lovecraft purists should probably stay away from it, but I really enjoyed this novel. And it’s the first of a trilogy—I’m into the second one, Dawn of the Old Ones, now.

I've read:

The Woman in Cabin 10
In a Dark, Dark Wood
The Lying Game

They were all middle of the road for me, not very memorable but you may feel differently so I'd say you could probably check out any of them. I have also thought about trying The Death of Mrs. Westaway.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. It was so different from The Handmaid’s Tale, and I think made even better if you've seen the series, on which many of the characters are based. Nice relationship between the author and both sources.

Christopher Conlon (goodreadscomchristopherconlon) | 530 comments Dawn of the Old Ones (The Dark Armageddon Trilogy Book 2) by John Glasby Dawn of the Old Ones by John Glasby, Book Two of his Dark Armageddon trilogy, is enjoyable pulp fiction that wouldn’t have been out of place in a 1940s magazine like Weird Tales. It ain’t Lovecraft, but it kept me turning the pages (or rather pressing the Next Page button on my Kindle).
Next up, the finale…
